  1. We do need someone to play the role he does in the squad and I don’t think we’d be able to replace him for less than 20m
  2. Actually collective bargaining and salary caps make American sports both more profitable and more competitive. The parity among teams is on a completely different level to football. The ones being screwed over are the fans, and to an extent, the players.
  3. Honestly might be our best goal since Ben Arfa's Bolton one
  4. It is so utterly predictable that he'll have a howler in the next one and we'll have to go back to Pope again, until the cycle repeats itself.
  5. He works well in small doses but we would get very frustrated very quickly if he was playing 90 minutes every week.
  6. He really is the modern day Shola. Looks utterly silly flapping about on the pitch but sometimes it's effective.
  7. Every time we lose it feels like everything is ruined forever. Every time we win it feels like Europe is still on the table. League is so tightly packed.

To think that out of all the nonsense that happened this summer, Trafford going to City may have caused the most harm out of anything.
  9. I'm mostly chill about league position now and just want us to see us go as far as possible in CL. Hoping to see some consistency and improvement here.

Assuming he continues to do nothing this season (he could still turn it around!) it's a far worse signing than Elanga given that much of the value in the deal was supposed to be baked into his first couple of seasons with us. The injuries and lack of fitness have played a part (much like they have for Isak going in the other direction...) and he'll probably come good-ish at some point, but unlike our other signings we are bleeding value every week that he fails to perform at expected level.
  11. Think of how much that 3-2 win against Barcelona in '97 is still revered. Now imagine if it was a knockout match
  12. 10 years down the road, nobody will remember playing our third and fourth matches of the season against Chelsea. Nobody will forget an away knockout tie against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, regardless of the result. (assuming we’re not down 5-0 going in or something)
  13. I don't think he's the worst keeper ever or anything but there's really no point to spending money on a backup keeper if his loan-to-buy fee is anything more than nominal.
  14. Hard to maintain focus when you're up (checks notes) 8-1 aggregate
  15. I suspect the team and system will both have changed a decent amount next season, and he's been an effective premier league starter before. It's not ideal that he hasn't hit the ground running, but I think it's far too early to conclude that there's nothing in there to salvage.
  16. Looking forward to the Park Seung Soo hat trick. These probably aren’t too much better than what he was playing against last time he was playing professional football.
  17. I was complaining about this guy on N-O during my first year of uni. I’m 40 now and he’s still ticking. Nuts.
  18. Being in the Europa with a team that might be one of the favorites to win it will be a lot of fun.
  19. A hat trick in the return leg and he might be joint top goalscorer in the competition.
  20. I might agree with this if we weren't playing every three days for the next month or so. We could lose 5-0 and still progress. And I can't imagine any combination of our bench players and the kids losing to this lot 5-0.
  21. A Champions League knockout match is not a good time to "play the kids," regardless of what the score is.
