When's the last time bad news about NUFC turned out to be not true.

This was my immediate thought That seems the most likely scenario to me as well. More likely than the thought that someone is close enough to buying the clubs that he can already be calling the shots anyway...

I just remembered how he expressed his interest about our national team manager job about a year before the 2006 WC. He was in the running till the end but the FA decided against it because they were worried about his health. (We ended up with Advocaat) In the end I think it was a good decision because his health did start deteriorating rapidly after that, but I can't help but wonder how beautiful it would have been if one of my sporting heroes had been able to manage my national team and take us to glory.
