Colo's got his weaknesses but the entire defensive unit - from strikers to defenders - were pretty shoddy all day long. As i've said earlier, i cannot for the life of me understand why we didn't drop a yard or so back, when it was clear within the opening encounters that we might get skinned by a long ball or a counter-attack. Their second goal was a contribution of the two, on-rushing forward makes a good run and receives a good ball. It was only gonna need to happen once. Kinnear always seems to play a very compressed formation with a very very high line. It's cost us some points imo.

That's what i mean. If Ashley is serious, then doing some of these things - or atleast attempting to do them, would have been first on his agenda. Appoint a Chairman who will settle the fans down, dismantle or atleast dilute the structure as it clearly isn't popular with the majority of managers, and maybe - just maybe - look around to see if there are better managerial candidates. He's disgustingly strong, absolutely crazy physical strength. For that reason alone I think he'll make it in the Premiership as a utility player at the very least even if he only improves marginally. If he can be coached into being a "smarter" target-man, improves his poor technique, and gets into the grove of Premiership first-team football... Who knows? Could turn out to be a pretty good player one day.

I don't disagree with the fine. If would start getting out of hand pretty soon if you let players display political messages at matches. You wouldn't want a Toon striker celebrating his goal by lifting up his shirt and flashing the words "Vote Labour!" Would you?
