  1. oh God, amazing. I love Turkey. Love the country, love the people, love their footy. Best game of the tourney so far.
  2. what a pass from Sabri. Looking canny today. If Turkey do come back today, this just might be Arda's star turn.

    Arda Turan?

Not necessarily a good thing, since it could scupper his move to Fener.
  4. General moaning about how s*** things were here and how playing in midfield was going to hinder his international prospects (even though KK hadn't played him yet). Anyhow, that wasn't why I had come to post here... Anyone else think Rozehnal looked excellent yesterday? He was very comfortable on the ball, and defended in a very composed manner, making no noticeable errors. You can see why he was highly-rated pre Newcastle. Obviously Premier League football is a different kettle and fish and made him look like a complete mess, but was that thanks to the Allardyce style? Perhaps a team that focuse more on attack than defence would suit his obvious ability. Its a tough call, but I hope that Keegan is watching. I think he's got quality, but it seems the best Premiership attacking players are either just too strong or just too fast for him. Was very good against the turks, but they were a pretty small/slow bunch. Probably would have had a future as a squad player if he didn't go mouth off to the media like an idiot. I don't think Keegan will ever forgive him for that.
  5. "journos" like that should be writing fiction full time. Or is that already their job description? not that I don't think Advocaat is brilliant, would have been chuffed if we had gotten him before Keegan came in.
  6. Can't understand why Hughes would prefer City over Chelsea. If he snubbed them for any other club I would just think he didn't want a crazy fucker like Roman as a boss, but City...
  7. Injury-prone former big 4 player who's career has been on a downward spiral for a couple of years. http://kr.goal.com/resultsimg/3985.jpghttp://www.4thegame.com/media/00/03/45/celestine_babayaro.jpghttp://sameoldshearer.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/duff.jpghttp://www.4thegame.com/media/00/04/07/alan_smith.jpg Who knows, it could still work out! ...Right?
  8. SOLD! I'd class myself as a Milner fan and I really think he's a key part of our squad. ...Whatever. SOLD!

    Arda Turan?

Does satilik degil mean "for sale"? No, it means "Spurs player"

    Duff to Mackems?

I think we can all agree that when we beat Tottenham to Duff for a paltry 5 million pounds, everyone here thought it was a damn good piece of business. At least, I know I did. Didn't turn out that way, but I don't think it's fair to knock the decision-making capabilities of the previous regime based on the Duff buy... We've got dozens of better examples if we want to do that.
  11. If he's that good why are 'shiteholes like Portsmouth' his best option? that's what i'd like to know Get real pls. As stated in my previous posts, Pompey is obviously a better proposition. If we are to compete for players with the likes of Spurs and Pompey, we will lose out as we are a lesser club. We are only big because of our crowd. It also these statements saying Portsmouth are shiteholes that make us butt of jokes for our constant delusion that we are great. Sad but true..but have accepted this fact long time ago. Btw, as revealed in an interview Utaka in France, he rejected us even though we offer higher wages cos he wants regular football but he did add, Portsmouth is a rising club while us yes he did say specifically in French, that we are a club going nowhere. Jesus, get a grip. There's a reason I'm not on the forum that much this time of the year. This is it. Pompey's been higher up the table from us for exactly two years, before which they barely avoided relegation for three seasons. We have a larger fanbase. We have more money. I can imagine there are rational reasons that some players would choose Portsmouth over Newcastle. But you seem to believe the likes of Everton, Spurs, Villa, and Pompey are like fucking Man United in terms of competing with us for players. All this "boo hoo hoo we won't get jack shit this summer because we're a FUCKING HOPELESS CLUB" talk has got to stop.
  12. mackems.gif So Martin Jol, what can you tell us about this lad?
  13. zzZZzZZzzZz I'm Korean and even I don't care.
  14. it's on the telly here so I suppose I'll watch it. Badly need a footy fix... (European leagues in off season, domestic league in summer break) I don't think I've ever watched an entertaining England match though. Hopefully the Americans coming out like they've got something to prove will make it competetive.
  15. Man, I don't think I should. You look at where the club was then, and where it's been since. You're asking me to experience all that for the first time over the course of a few days. That thumbs up smiley should have a knife in it. I think you should get them, also the Newcastle history dvd to see the TRUE glory days of NUFC........Ah the 1950's......... I've only read Fifty Years of Hurt. It pretty much caught me up to speed with present day, but in my mind, there is this huge gap between Keegan's first stint as manager (I've seen highlights of a few matches on TV) and when I actually started supporting the team. I've never seen any of the Robson era, and nothing of the managers that followed him. There's a few good videos on youtube, Robson era compilations (Tooj's in particular) but you've probably seen them anyway. The 4th and 3rd seasons were class. You planning on attending a game next season? It's going to be a big deal getting over there, I don't want to fly over and catch a Derby type of game. Season after next is my target. I've flown over from Boston to Newcastle twice now, once for Man City 2006/2007 and once for Liverpool 2007/2008. Somehow I walked away without throwing myself off level 7 both times.
  16. So all we have to do is make it a bit bigger and we get a star sounds kindergarten-ish to me.. Thing is the club would rather put away teams in shit dressing rooms rather than be eligible for hosting the Champions League finals.
  17. Something to do with hotel facilities? Thought it was the dressing rooms & floodlights I think it was because our away dressing room doesn't have the same facilities our home one does.
  18. No Park, not even on the bench. Sort it out Ferguson you fucker! Go Chelsea, I suppose
  19. Will need a lot more than one good signing to get up to their past standards.
  20. This is just completely random, but what would your reactions be if we reached the UEFA cup finals and the venue ended up being the Stadium of Light? Just checked the wiki page and it's a four-star stadia so it's not impossible. CoMS is also a four-star and it held the finals this year.
  21. Announcing their first signing of the summer: Shola Ameobi.
  22. Do we have any choice but to sack him? He'll be out for six months yeah, but the psychological effect prison time will have on him plus the fitness he'll lose from not training regularly will probably irreparably damage his worth as a footballer. It's not as if he was a world-beater to begin with. Hopefully there's some get out clause in his contract we can exploit.
  23. can't happen (i think) due to the way the draw has worked out. I thought all combos could happen (not sure like) because the half of the draw you would go into is affected by whether you come 1st or 2nd. They're both s**** like, which could get in the way. git your wall chart out. Czech Republic, Switzerland, Turkey, Poland, Austria, Romania, Greece, Sweden are the only ones without a prayer really. Yeah, that's half the field but still it looks like a relatively wide open tourney
  24. Switzerland really? A one man attack of Alexander Frei coupled with a back four headlined by Phillippe Senderos doesn't seem particularly frightening to me. They've got some decent players and are tactically very sound but to me they're just not good enough. Good point about Russia though. Never bet against a Guus Hiddink team. The Euro is in Austria/Switzerland, so I think they can play better than normaly... think about Japan in 2002. Almost nobody said before that they would go through the group stage... Japan didn't win the World Cup mate. Aye, and they didn't even do better than the other co-host
