  1. Must've been an interesting experience for Smith, seeing his team of the past playing his team of the future.
  2. I hoped he was just trying to keep the squad's confidence up. Might not be far from the truth if we're talking about 3 players worth 20m+ who would seriously improve the quality of the squad. We're not really short on numbers, just quality.

    Abdoulaye Faye

seems to have gotten a bit less interested since Big Sam left to be honest.
  4. alan smith aswel If you think Alan is bad, wait till you meet his evil twin brother Alam
  5. Would be crazy to get into Europe after the season we've had, but certainly wouldn't say no to it. Well, at least we know what we have to do if we want to stay up on the disciplinary table. No Alam Smith!
  6. The thing about the current formation is that it's very much tailor made to our current situation (three quality strikers with different strengths and weaknesses + no reliable options on thie wing) While I'm sure Keegan will continue to line up the players in a way that suits what our squad looks like at a given moment, I highly doubt our formation will look exactly like this in the long term considering that our squad will change considerably over the summer.
  7. Thirty-one years old, so not a long-term option. I guess as a reliable competitor/backup to Enrique for 1~2 years it might work out, but he's not coming off Spurs' bench just to sit on ours. Last I heard he's going back to PSV in the summer. Shaem what's been done to him at Spurs, went in as arguably one of the best left-backs in Europe, but Jol decides he needs to do everything humanly possible to keep him out of the squad and starts buying two fullbacks every transfer window. Then Ramos comes in, and in his first window, he buys three To add insult to injury, he sticks a midfielder from the reserves in at left back ahead of all of them. Would've had a much better career if he took the move to AS Roma when he was offered. As it is he wasted his best years with the ungrateful cockney mackems.
  8. Truth. No, he really is that bad. He's like a headless chicken on amphetamines. Nope. Everyone knows we're the sole employer of drugged-up headless chickens in the Prem.
  9. Well, I end up plugging a Korean player on here every window so.... http://news.joins.com/component/htmlphoto_mmdata/200802/htm_2008021716201660006010-001.JPG thoughts? Nepotism aside, I honestly think he's one of the most underrated players in the Premiership. Has the best work rate in the league, lots of pace, decent vision and technique. Would start regularly for any team outside of the top 4. Can't really score but that should be less of a problem if we play him as the winger in a 4-4-2 or as a box-to-box CM. See him playing in the centre of the pitch for the national team all the time and he's fucking mint when a team's built around him. Nani's pretty much pushed him out of the ManU XI completely. Ferguson rates him highly as a squad player but would probably let him go for decent money. Never gonna be a world-beater, but a very good player who's probabaly available on the cheap. I'd have a go.
  10. Can any onlooking Tottenham fan tell me why exactly they're playing a reservist midfielder at LB when they probably now have something like 15 players who could play that position? O'Hara was truly Babayaro-esque today. Not that I'm complaining mind.
  11. Enrique himself isn't exactly at a ripe old age... Wouldn't mind him deputizing for Bridge for a year or two, although I'm not sure how happy he'd be with the idea. As for Lennon, he's certainly not an appreciable upgrade over Milner. Wouldn't mind having both as options but if we're ditching Milner I'd like us to go for a significantly better replacement.
  12. Surely we can put this one to rest now. Congrats everyone, it's been a nightmare couple of months but we got through it and hopefully better times are ahead. Roll on next season!
  13. Comedy defending Can't string together two passes No pace on the counterattack at all Keeper beaten easily from range. AGAIN! So familar... Yet somehow... different.
  14. If he's any good he'll probably get a game for the first team, man. Better than Alan Smith I'm sure.
  15. ....no, it's not what you think http://nufcblog.com/2008/03/28/transfer-news/newcastle-after-11-year-old-american-whiz/ ...Amazing, does the club actually have a U-13 team this lad can play in?
  16. I agree that it's great from a sentimental standpoint, but let's not forget that one Matty Pattison was a full South Africa international, and South Africa is a far more competetive international squad than Congo is. I personally don't understand what all the Lua Lua raving is about. He's got potential yes, but he's done absolutely nothing of note for the few hours he's been on the pitch for the first team. In the mean time, Milner has single handedly saved us from relegation and he's still a s*** player with no future just because he's not running the 100m in 10 seconds. What a f****** awful post. "for the few hours he's been on the pitch" mackems.gif saddest thing ever when cheeky fuckers think they're being witty when they're actually making no sense at all. "singlehanded" was a bit of an exaggeration but nobody can deny that the gist of my post is true. Taking the self-deprecation thing a bit too far there. making my own point for me

  20. Neither I nor anybody else here believes that he was the best appointment, or that he's a true world-class manager. But like everyone else, I love the man to bits and just can't bring myself to be hostile towards him, even when he makes some surely shocking decisions. From an empirical standpoint, I think he'll do better at better once he gets used to the job and his managerial skills sharpen back up to where they used to be. Hopefully he'll also get a boost from being able to sign his own players in the summer. So summary, I don't think he was the best appointment, but I just love him so much so I don't really care. He deserves his chance to stabilize us and take us places again.
  21. looks like one who enjoys going forward just as much as staying back. Still a lot of niggly deficiencies in his game that need to be worked out. But he's strong, pretty fast, and looking loaded with potential. Look forward to seeing him develop.
  22. If you think Viduka is lazy... Well, guess what.
  23. because Geremi's crossing was so much better? No because I think we should stick to 433 and if Milner comes back KK might be tempted to go back to 442. Or might put him in right forward or something, keeping one of the 3 strikers out. The fact that we played one half of a decent preformance against a fellow relegation threatened side does not imply that 4-3-3>4-4-2. Keegan played that way today more out of necessity than out of desire. We'll be back to 4-4-2 for Fulham. Besides, Martins was nominally on the left wing for most of the match anyway.
