This is just completely random, but what would your reactions be if we reached the UEFA cup finals and the venue ended up being the Stadium of Light? Just checked the wiki page and it's a four-star stadia so it's not impossible. CoMS is also a four-star and it held the finals this year.

Switzerland really? A one man attack of Alexander Frei coupled with a back four headlined by Phillippe Senderos doesn't seem particularly frightening to me. They've got some decent players and are tactically very sound but to me they're just not good enough. Good point about Russia though. Never bet against a Guus Hiddink team. The Euro is in Austria/Switzerland, so I think they can play better than normaly... think about Japan in 2002. Almost nobody said before that they would go through the group stage... Many successful modern institutions run on deficit spending. Any of the big 4 going under is just about as likely as the United States of America going bankrupt due to their ginormous national debt. ie, it's not impossible, but not damn likely any time soon. The difference being top football clubs can't start wars. If Spurs keep fucking around with our transfers, we just might get around to disproving that

I think the dutch are much weaker than they look. A lot of their first team squad plays in the Dutch or German leagues, and remains unproven at the top level. They also lack any "flair" superstars that can really impose themselves on the game. (I suppose Van Persie being the closest thing...) Similar problem with the Germans. A lot of their players are shit/unproven otuside of the Bundesliga, and some of their mainstays have been in shockingly bad form even within their domestic leagues lately.

Young and Bentley wouldnt have played They were both called up and capped during the qualifying stages and Capello has had them in his squads. Surely based on recent form they'd be up for consideration if England was picking a team for Euros.

Honestly I don't know where this talk saying he won't come to us becuase he'd walk straight into the Real/Arsenal/Liverpool first team is coming from. He's a 22 year old playing in a mediocre league who hasn't had a single outstanding game against good opposition yet. Like I said, I see him as having about the same stature as Huntelaar or Berbatov/Eduardo prior to their moves to England. It's a bit of stretch but if he wants consistent first team football in a top tier league aren't us/Spurs/Everton/Villa about as good as he's going to get? Fair enough if he prefers slowly breaking into a CL squad, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility that we could get him.
