I agree that it's great from a sentimental standpoint, but let's not forget that one Matty Pattison was a full South Africa international, and South Africa is a far more competetive international squad than Congo is. I personally don't understand what all the Lua Lua raving is about. He's got potential yes, but he's done absolutely nothing of note for the few hours he's been on the pitch for the first team. In the mean time, Milner has single handedly saved us from relegation and he's still a shit player with no future just because he's not running the 100m in 10 seconds.
-
Neither I nor anybody else here believes that he was the best appointment, or that he's a true world-class manager. But like everyone else, I love the man to bits and just can't bring myself to be hostile towards him, even when he makes some surely shocking decisions. From an empirical standpoint, I think he'll do better at better once he gets used to the job and his managerial skills sharpen back up to where they used to be. Hopefully he'll also get a boost from being able to sign his own players in the summer. So summary, I don't think he was the best appointment, but I just love him so much so I don't really care. He deserves his chance to stabilize us and take us places again.

looks like one who enjoys going forward just as much as staying back. Still a lot of niggly deficiencies in his game that need to be worked out. But he's strong, pretty fast, and looking loaded with potential. Look forward to seeing him develop.

If you think Viduka is lazy... Well, guess what.

because Geremi's crossing was so much better? No because I think we should stick to 433 and if Milner comes back KK might be tempted to go back to 442. Or might put him in right forward or something, keeping one of the 3 strikers out. The fact that we played one half of a decent preformance against a fellow relegation threatened side does not imply that 4-3-3>4-4-2. Keegan played that way today more out of necessity than out of desire. We'll be back to 4-4-2 for Fulham. Besides, Martins was nominally on the left wing for most of the match anyway.
-
In the first half we were too worried about getting beaten to try and win it, the second half was more relaxed, the second half performance and point gained tonight will change the way we approach the Fulham game. Just like the preformance against Blackburn changed the way we approached the Liverpool game? This team has been way too hit and miss this year for me to trust their ability to turn the corner off one good preformance.
-
Let's not get too overconfident. We were absolutely s*** in the first half today and we were always good in spells under Keegan. Its the fact that we don't have any consistency that's hurting us. If we show up in Some patches of Bolton/Middlesbrough/first 20 minutes vs ManU/Blackburn/2nd half today etc. mode we will win this. If not, it's going to be quite the challenge. Hardly three points in the bag. Bullard and McBride are quality.

because Geremi's crossing was so much better?

absolutely rancid preformance in the first half. Decent in the second. Staying up is going to be all about being able to play like we did in the second half consistently without having to go through 45 minute of what we did in the first. Keegan still not winning back my trust with that Martins sub. Oh well, point is a point though. I'll certainly settle for us no longer being able to drop into the zone in a single gameweek.
-
just give us a corner, Beye will do the rest. Unless, of course, Geremi belts it out of play again...
-
Keegan at least trying to console him I see. Not necessarily working though. I mean seriously, how does tha tmake sense.
-
Martins OFF!?!?:!?! WTF :/ and I was starting to feel good about this match. I would be right pissed if I was Martins now.
-
Viduka, Butt, and Barton all look knackered. Barton's been knackered since minute 1, to be fair
-
no worries, Beye header in the 93rd minute, nailed on.
-
Is it written into Geremi's contract that he's not allowed to deliver good set pieces?
-
Ridgewell literally shits in his pants when the ball comes up to Oba. Let's get one.
-
ALMOST! Amazing Oba

"at least Newcastle look like a football team again" Setanta commentator spot on for once
-
players getting some confidence now. Come on lads, lets not get too adventurous. Don't want to forget that we're still shit...
-
Wouldn't it be nice if we weren't the team to collapse in the second half for once?
-
HOLY FUCK. K Michael, I'm sorry about everything I said. You're forgiven. THANK GOD

Our defense is yet to fulfill our quota of 10
-
Owen again somehow manages to pinpoint the keeper with his shot. ' Dress a man in a keeper's uniform and Owen could probably hit him from fifty yards out.
-
no changes. God help us.

Relegation - will we or won't we? *NO FIXTURE LISTS PLEASE*

The impression I get from our first half v. Brum is that if we do avoid the drop, it will be because of sheer luck (pulling of a couple robberies like Blackburn did against us) and not by our own industry. The players are lost, and Keegan is clueless. Unfortunately, a change in manager won't help anything right now. There's no way for us to drag ourselves out of this. It's down to God now.
