Agree. No doubt the team he got in his 8 games here was absolutely shocking, but for me there's also no doubt that he was the same. Loved him as a player and that's how I'll always remember him - scoring goals for us in the number 9 shirt. Maybe he'll prove me wrong at some point and still become a good manager.

I don't agree. The position Barton plays in is far more important in my opinion. You can get away with having an average full back, not so much with someone in Bartons position. Also Barton's seems to be really important for the squad with his mentality/attitude at times (for example against Arsenal where he looked like being on a one-man-mission at times)

If they offered him a new contract he'd sign it with his Owen blood if they wouldn't give him a pen I suppose. He's desperate to stay imo.

Stekelenburg will probably be their nr.1 for a few years still, but hopefully Krul can get into the Holland squad on a regular basis. Really pleased for him and I hope he can become our nr.1 next season, but that depends on the last two games of this season and his pre-season. I think whatever will happen in the last 2 games, he's done well (over the season) considering that this was the first time that he had to play many games in a season and considering it was his first PL season. Also, he's young and only will improve which should get him ahead of Harper. Would be happy with Krul as Nr. 1 and Harper as back up in case Krul gets injured.

Can't believe the season is (almost) over again. Doesn't feel too long ago that we had the summer in that a certain Andy Carroll was given the number 9 shirt and the Ben Arfa signing-drama happened... Chris Hughton was talking about 'this good group of lads' in 'this very tough Barclays Premier League' and we were starting the season looking quite hopeless against Man Utd just a week before beating Villa 6-0. Went by so so fast. Then again, I'm already looking forward (I know I'm optimistic) to the summer and next season.

He's won something. Job done, he must be delighted. Same as Owen. Aye. Our former 'super-stars' are really doing a great job.
