The same goes for Colo, Barton and Nolan. Colo, yes. I honestly believe Barton and Nolan (as well as Smith, Harper, Butt and of course Shola) wanted to stay and wanted to put things right. In case of Enrique, I think if a good bid had come in he would have gone.

Sooo, last day of a very good betting-season. The CL final next week will probably just turn out to be the highlight of it, though. Bets for today: 1 € on Liverpool NUFC Stoke Man City Spurs Everton - Chelsea (draw) Fulham - Arsenal (draw) Man U - Blackpool (draw) Returns around 1500€. 99 € on us to win returns just over 200€. Edit: Also now have 10 € on Blackpool (to draw), Stoke/draw, Spurs. Returns about 100€

January 2008: "All I can say is that he's an international"

I'd like us to try something like that: Krul Simpson Williamson/NewCB Coloccini New LB Barton Tiote Ben Arfa Nolan Jonas New St Ben Arfa would be able to drift in and could score goals while Barton still could go on the wing at times and get his crosses in. Nolan would still have his goal scoring position and Jonas and Tiote can do what they did this season.

What a cheap watch that is

Good I can laugh about losing 20 € after winning quite much in the Europa League final. If he had wanted to win, he would have too. Of course he would have. That's why I was laughing.

What would Rio do with his life without Twitter? Noooo!!! Wasn't it just getting funny with Michael Owen on twitter?

Shola was absolutely bloody abysmal that day. I vividly remember everyone in the SU bar constantly laughing at him then cheering when he was subbed off for Shearer. Wasn't Boumsong captain that day till Shearer came on? The game before he signed? I wouldnt have thought so Boum was indeed captain that day. 9 months or so after signing. Knew it.

Me neither, which is why I definitely don't want him coming here any time soon. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by his time here. Most of my prejudice against him stems from everything he's ever said and done before and after that time, but during it he seemed pretty bold in ripping up plans that were going wrong, which surprised me - didn't show Owen unwarranted loyalty, experimented with tactics. He seemed to be making more right moves than I expected - if he'd kept that rate up and been given a handful more games to work with I think he would have kept us up, at least. Some people have extremely short memories. He dropped him didn't he? It was Hughton that originally dropped Owen, and Shearer re-instated him the minute he took over. After a few games, he realised his mistake and dropped him again. In fairness, I think it was a genuine error of judgement about Owen's contribution. It wasn't about being loyal to a mate. Tbf Owen looked like he cared in Shearer's first game against Chelsea. As did everyone till Chelsea scored that goal. But Owen really did try to make things happen.

proud of the lads.

His reaction towards the ref right after the goal was great.

He's just lacking experience. Even Harper looked very much a poorer goalkeeper after replacing Given in 2008/2009 than he did this season. Playing regular first-team football for a goalkeeper is so important. Krul has shown what a good shot stopper he is but dominating the box needs to be learnt and will be learnt by playing games.

Allright then. Could be on his way to us after all.
