i'll retract this bit: "and being outplayed in most games on their home turf" and make the point that we can't outplay teams on our home turf often enough more often than not when i see home games nowadays the away team is playing the better football

show me a team that's ever managed to maintain their place by eeking out wins when performing poorly and being outplayed in most games on their home turf it can be sustained for a while, but it always catches teams up if pardew doesn't change to better exploit the talent he has at his disposal then it'll catch him / us up sooner rather than, i guarantee it

fair enough, i'd be interested to know what you've in pardew that makes you so sure he's willing, capable or even feels the need to address it?

ridiculous? righto, it's nothing of the sort, it's being able to watch football objectively and apply the knowledge and experience i have from watching for nearly 30 years and applying it to what i see from pardew....as much as sky would have you believe otherwise not much changes in football which is why i quote alpal: the bit in bold i've quoted 'cause this is exactly where i am right now, i believe i know which way it's going to go with pardew as i've seen it over the years and been saying it here for weeks, over the course of a season his tactics aren't changing or improving, teams have worked us out, prior to yesterday we'd drawn 2 home games and by all accounts we were pretty close to that again yesterday with the away team again playing the better football, is anything inaccurate with that assessment? the point is that we're a razor's edge from the wins being defeats and don't have a coherent style of play to fall back on when results aren't there, nor a plan b in any way shape or form by the way, the bit i didn't highlight from alpal was the bit i don't necessarily agree with, we're not at the point of being able to beat the top 6 yet or rather expect to beat them would be a better way to put it

Krul GK Coloccini CB Santon LB Williamson CB Perch RB Cabaye CM Guthrie CM Ben Arfa RW Gutierrez LW Cisse ST Ba ST changed one player, looks a pretty "balanced" 4-4-2 to me, again Ferguson is fit and available (apparently) but not worthy of a place on the bench plenty of options if he decides to pick someone else capable of playing wide naturally, such as jonas at FB for the extra attacking threat and energy then said winger could start instead defend him all you want, he's got options that he isn't using and then using the lack of options he has in his defence

his quotes about balance fucked me off reading them this morning, pick the players at your disposal who'll balance the team then you smarmy cunt
  7. if there's remotely any truth in that the fact they're even in europe is a joke man, when do the rules come into effect?

first half attack cisse ba hba midfield of cabaye perch guthrie defence of jonas colo willo simpson second half a few changes went back to 442 and then 4411 sholas ended up playing as right wing did pretty well actually and gosling was playing behind BA. and, again i'm led to believe, depsite all those changes we never really managed to get the ball down and play nor dominate norwich, norwich i'm just not on board with pards like, great we're 6th but what alpal said is pretty much on the money

everything else aside (i couldn't see the game here) was he playing a CM of perch & guthrie/gosling and cabaye in a wide area, with jonas at FB? that's what i was told by a lad listening on the radio surely none of that can be right?
  10. hm, don't know about that myself...they were excellent defenders, looking at it the other way were barton or beresford good enough to make the manyoo or arsenal defences of that era? i'm not so sure
  11. limited in what respect?
  12. what tmonkey said, on the money

where i thought pardew was an upgrade on hughton was he came in and we started to win the "winnable" games at home that hughton hadn't been, unfortunately a lot of the criticism pardew is facing (however much that may be) has started creeping in as results and performances at home have faltered also results are ultimately everything, people will put up with shit football if they walk out of the ground with the team picking up 3 points and a healthy position in the table, pretty simple really 1. good football + results = win 2. bad football + results = approval 3. bad football + no results = unacceptable 4. good football + no results = not approved but kudos points for aesthetics pardew is currently at #2 with danger signs pointing to a shift to number 3# or a move towards #1 if he starts selecting the right players and changes his tactics all up to him really

bit keegan-esque really, take away celtic he's not really achieved a great deal more than keegan did in his day either but similar in their ability to motivate and get teams playing imo O'Neill's teams have never played football as good as what Keegan got some of his teams playing. not in dispute but they're similar managers in the respect that they can motivate and get more out of players but neither were ever able to push on to the next level...remember MoN being talked about for manyoo? he's a way off that just now isn't he? still time for him mind, he's young enough

draw please, energy sapping replay and out on penalties would be win-win for us
  17. god, that season with keegan and relegation i wouldn't even class it like a bad dream, it was more like a bad trip or hallucinations you'd have from from catching a fever or something - to think it actually happened in real life it was like they were trying to put the club into the doldrums on purpose regardless of the cost to the club or ashley...
  18. Did he drop him for it? putting everything together i'm not sure ben arfa has been dropped for not tracking back. So why was he dropped then in favor of the likes of Obertan and Raylor? did he ever start consistently enough to consider himself dropped?
  19. don't say shit like that out loud man

    Papiss Cissé

“What I do know is that in training, his finishing is a huge asset. The problem that we’ve got at the moment is that we’re not creating enough chances for him. “We’re not getting him in a position [to score]. So there’s no point in him being on the pitch if we’re not able to dominate the game and create chances where he can bring out what’s best in him. you don't say play ben arfa, ba & cisse and let them play football then you fucking buffoon - it'll work itself out
