  1. I generally agree, as long as we don't end up with a Souness situation where we piss off our best players for the sake of the manager's ego. Not saying that will happen with Shearer, but sometimes you need to handle unhappy or disruptive players for the good of results. The best players aren't always the nicest ones. ...'piss off our best players'... What a catastrophic loss THAT would be - NOT.. I reckon that by 'our best players' you are referring largely to Martins and the rest of the under-achievers who, regrettably, are allowed to wear the B & W shirt... As far as I am concerned, this lot haven't got one solitary reason why they SHOULDN'T be 'pissed off', and Shearer can do what he likes with ANY of them - even if they ALL wanted a transfer at the season's end, I would back Shearer to sign replacements who would be better. They are being PAID HANDSOMELY to give 100% in the club's cause and I would rather Shearer got rid of anyone who doesn't because they don't deserve ONE PENNY of the club's(or fans')hard-earned cash. Some of these so-called footballers are in for a rude awakening over the next year or so.... i agree 100% with this post merlin, i wish i had a drum to bang i agree with what you say that much it's why i want him to stay as manager, tear these losers apart and replace them with hungry players that will fight for the shirt
  2. you scoff but the man is somehow still in a job!! absolutely staggering, maybe he's a hypnotist or something
  3. Even though he's shite, he provided the assist for our only goal. He's a waste of space but probably one of the few players who can actually supply something from midfield, even if it is only once a game. he's a wretch of a player, i'd rather see the management team set up a gameplan and formation that might afford us the chance to play together as a team than rely on a piece of quality from someone who offers nothing else on the pitch trying to think if any of our relegation rivals play someone so ineffective so often and i can't and by the way i think you're being very generous with "once a game" for duff, once a month if he's lucky
  4. no excuse for duff, i just can't get my head around why people are saying this now, beggars belief - he offers NOTHING man my choice of players to play for us in midfield would be: barton> guthrie> jonas> nolan>owen (AM)> butt> [close call now] raylor> duff> a turd> smith the only way duff should be near the team is if we couldn't field a 3 or 4 man midfield from anyone before him on that list and we can so he shouldn't
  5. bet he's kicking himself now his best mate shearer is there like, especially if he takes the job on after may or i suppose he might just hire someone to kick him for about a grand a day with the wages he's likely on now

    Dowie

Hell's teeth. Encouraging stuff from Dowie. he's just spouting platitudes, i know that dude i just want to see some signs from them that they're fully getting to grips with our current problems before talking about the future - if they turn it around on the pitch then all well and good, 'til then they've got 1 point from 2 games - shut the f*** up 'til that increases significantly spouted all sorts of s**** too, he barely improved a single thing though harsh but fair imo ^ load of bollocks. thats just my opinion though. care to expand? though not

    Dowie

nothing like running before you can walk eh?
  9. Calm down princess. He fucked off when we really needed him, just 5 more months of his life is all the club wanted. Coward. touche
  10. can't believe people put it down to cowardice, i really can't
  11. Because he was breaking into places.
  12. just to pour some cold piss on this carroll scored 2 goals in the reserves and shearer played shola instead of him next game edgar got a game through injury only as far as i can see and carroll came on against stoke 'cause shola was on the brink of being arrested he was so bad what i want to see is shearer recognise that duff, smith, butt & shola are simply fucking terrible and THEY are the ones who should only be played as a last resort - a great manager will find a solution, i hope he can 'cause i've said all along if our future remains in the hands of said "established" players we'll go down and i stand by that does anyone truly believe shearer will take owen off and give ranger a run out 'cause he's performing in the reserves? i'm so sick of reactive management at NUFC - it's time for some proactivity man ffs instead of giving the first teamers a "red hot poker" by threatening their place take the fucking place from them first and make them fight for it, alls half of them care about is money anyways so maybe they'd make an effort if appearance fees came under question play the bairns man If this was two months ago I'd agree with you 100% but you have to factor in the situation we are in. Not many people would chuck a bunch of kids into a relegation battle where one bad result could be a disaster. Shearer might be playing youngsters because he's got no choice but I get the impression both he and Dowie are very keen on pushing the development of the kids much quicker than previously. nah, just not buying it Tron - he's supposed to have been watching us all season then why are shola and duff anywhere near the team? i'll reiterate, a great manager would find a way to make things work; no-one is saying replace the whole team with bairns but you root out the problem areas and and identify your flaws then weed them out, that's what a manager is paid for he's had options for change since arriving in my opinion, he just hasn't exercised those options yet
  13. throw this in for a few of you out there: "he's one for the future" (Keegan, K) WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP just kidding lads
  14. actually you don't, you give one fact repeated ad nauseam - the rest is your opinion tarted up as fact through the smoke and mirror act of condescension between yourself & JJ7 there were facts and opinions, i'll enlighten you: FS was a big part [fnar] of the European qualifications (facts) but he also ran out of ideas (strong conjecture/opinion) and the club was nearly bankrupt/in a dire financial situation (fact) what's so hard about it for you? you quote the Euro qualifications and JJ7 says: "Yep, then he lost the plot, made too many mistakes and nearly bankrupted the club" he's not contradicting you, you can surely understand that? he's referring to 2 different points in time man then you reply and tell him to repost his rubbish in 5 years!!! you remind me of billy pilgrim dude, totally shot to f*** through all the time travelling you've done so you can't work out simple linear facts and events anymore Good points. Im not biting here, honestly as its just a general point, but there are very few people in business or politics or whatever who are always good. Most people usually start to fail and make mistakes in the end. Look at Hitler who performed miricles at the start, Thatcher, Brooks Mileson, Peter Ridsdale, Doug Ellis etc..... Even if Freddy had won us the league for three seasons between 1997 and 2000, you can't just stick with them when they continue to make mistake after mistake. absolutely agree, and it's a balance thing we'd tipped the scales under FS, and as a PLC in my opinion, but we got very unlucky with who bought us out - as has been said countless times the ashley period being an abject failure to date does not validate the later years of FS & the PLC

    Hillsborough

there was a very good article in one of the broadsheets about kenny dalglish and the effect it had on him, i was pretty young at the time so it made interesting reading indeed, basically broke the man

  18. not a snowballs chance in hell someone wouldn't buy them out of liverpool mind same for man u if it came to it
  19. the ground for me as someone else said already, everything about it best ground in the country by a fucking mile, i even love the fact we can't build on the east stand maaaaaaaaaaaaaan i fuckin miss SJP
  20. said this earlier in the thread: nolan/butt vs palacios/jenas!!! wake up screaming in the night when that creeps into my mind
  21. He did buy us some canny players though that were the spine of the team for a good few years. true. I'm still mentally scarred with the names of Franck Dumas Stephane Guivarc'h. Not to mention the bizarre decisions to sign the ageing Stuart Pearce, John Barnes and Ian Rush. and disco des, my personal favourite
  22. Dodgy grammar aside, it's great to hear of Shearer bringing in some order. He never settled for anything but the best as a player and I hope that carries through to his management. Obviously he should know from both the Robson and Souness eras that a fine balance is required. honestly, what modern day manager worth his salt wouldn't impose rules on his players? the current generation of footballers have to be the biggest set of wankers and layabouts ever, who on gods earth would let them get on with it themselves? Evidently Joe Kinnear and Chris Hughton, our management duo for 90% of this season. Edit - ah, I spot the 'modern day' and 'manager' bits in there. yip
  23. would modric even get spurs young player of the year nomination? Yeah, he has had a really good season. Should watch them sometime and see for yourself. dude, spurs have been a waste of space for most of the season, how the f*** was modric any good? earlier in the year there was talk of modric being sold he was that abject picked up since redknapp fair enough He picked up around October so has played well for most of the season - the start of the year he was poor, he was too weak for CM but since moving to LM and then the arrival of Palacios he takes up more advanced positions, given more freedom and his performances have been worthy of that list imo. His and Lennons performances are probably the main reason they have a shot at 7th. madness to put him on a player of the year list man
