exactly - imo he survived on the coaching he had from inter when he arrived (or his wits) and ever since has slowly been dragged down with us; it's no surprise so it surprises me to find people finding it surprising if martins had spent the last 3 years with a better coaching team and a group of players on the way up rather than down he'd be a different player for example he'd thrive at villa with the game they play and the obvious quality coaching they have

to be fair martins is about the LAST reason we're disintegrating in my opinion, i put it down to the butt's, smith's & duff's of this world who HAVE come through footballing academies martins will be better and more effective in a better team, end of story - we saw that under KK so i'm not sure why anyone is really arguing about it now

Drogba is a battering ram type, albeit with a lot more to his game, Heskey, Carew, a latter day Shearer, Shefki Kuqi if you want to bring it down a few levels why on earth would you consider Carroll a battering ram? he's big, challenges defenders and wins headers against them and from the little i (and everyone else) have seen he throws himself about up front not sure what you're using as a definition for battering ram like mate

Well Big Al may do it differently instead of relying on those bunch of losers few more weeks at the club maybe he would but i reckon he'll not have time to take in what ranger can do while he's trying to fathom a successful recipe for success with the shower of shite he's got to take charge of

a battering ram like carroll (no one's saying he's a great player) or a xisco to try and hold up the play and allow the midfield to join and/or bring owen into the game is a must imo as i say stick with the top two from saturday we'll go down i reckon Spot on. The only mistake has been that Ameobi was given the role of battering ram earlier in the season and thus that tactic didn't pay off as much as it could had. We'd really ought to put Carroll in there. I wouldn't have a problem with playing two small statured strikers, if they'd be intelligent in their movement and quick. Martins is really f***** useless. He can only run straight forward and Owen just lacks the engine and aggression for the type of movement that is needed up front. Lovenkrands has been pretty good with his movement up front and despite lacking fitness seemed to know what he was doing. His performances actually showed how poor the two, Martins and Owen, have been all season. agree with the lack of movement but as i said in a post elsewhere i also think a large part of that comes down to our diabolical midfield...if they were providing better balls to the front, MORE INTELLIGENT BALLS, then oba & owen would be able to improve themselves look at it from their pov at the moment as 2 small strikers....what kind of pass are you likely to get in our team? ;D post of the year! i agree fwiw poor choice of words, granted!

well i meant on here obviously but what's he said like? missed that He said Stoke deserve to go down because of our brand of football and that Newcastle deserve to stay up because of their “magnificent, long-suffering fans” Lets just say he ain't been winning any friends in Stoke! Apparently on Talkshite they even had a 2hr phone in on the subject where him and Ray Houghton were trying to defend these opinions and were made to look very very stupid indeed. jesus our football has been a fuckin disgrace this season load of shite anyways, doesn't matter a toss about quality of football - noone has a right to be in the league or out of it as we're proving so consistently this season

ooh! common sense alert i was thinking this morning that we should show oba and jonas a video of villa to teach them how to work the channels and the space between CB's & FB's as they did it wonderfully yesterday against manyoo then i thought what's the fucking point? barry, petrov, shorey & young were playing accurate passes, pinpoint into space at times butt, nolan, r taylor & enrique playing the same passes? forget it
