  1. I can see Hull beating Stoke and I wouldn't be surprised if the Mackems turn over Everton at home. I've a feeling we'll need 7 pts. Minimum. we only need one of them to fuck up though, assuming we beat 'boro as that will send them down i'd say there's a greater likelihood of one of those sets of results going in our favour than against us everything comes down to tonight - win and i reckon we'll take 4 points from fulham & 'boro in some combination and we'll stay up - the confidence will flood back to them i reckon, at home at least don't win it's more or less over
  2. You should try listening to the Icelandic ones. It's just like commentary for the blind, a 100% accurate commentary of what is happening at any given time. "Martins passes down to Owen, Owen gets the ball, Owen turns and crosses over to Gutierrez, Gutierrez runs with the ball and shoots way over." *camera turns to fans* "There we have some Newcastle fans singing" *camera turns to the goalkeeper* "Here comes Van Der Saar, the Man U goalkeeper, and he kicks the ball upfield" etc. you never have any analysis of any kind. Listening to Sky commentators is like listening to Gods compared to the Icelandic ones. I actually know a family of die hard Man U fans that always watches the footy muted and honestly I can't blame them. Some of my favorite words of wisdom this season: "No no no, if you are going to shoot from that range you'll have to go much closer" Yorke is preparing to come on as a sub and the commentator, having nothing useful to say, goes "Dwight Yorke is coming on, he sure knows his way around the ladies" Then everyone of them is biased as f***. The other day we had a Liverpool fan commentating a Liverpool game so in the warm-up he goes "Oh, I hope we get to hear You Never Walk Alone, that magnificent song" then of course a minute later they play it "Ok people, turn up the volume on your televisions because here it comes" , then for the whole time they were playing it he didn't utter a word, probably leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed hugging a Liverpool scarf. The Icelandic MOTD is even worse. Like everyone in the studio agreed that the penalty given in the Man U - Tottenham game was probably the right decision The Norwegian MOTD for both the Norwegian league, and the Premier League, are actually quite enjoyable. With the exception of two-three biased people from time to time. Some of the pundits actually know football as well. One of South Korea's most frequently heard casters is a Sunderland fan for some God forsaken reason. The giddiness in his voice is audible whenever we get a bad result. what channel, MBC ESPN? stupid question i suppose 'cause isn't all the football on that channel? my korean ain't so good as to have noticed his bias i must say
  3. just looked at hull and the mackems remaining games, both of them will be lucky to get more than another point the rest of this season - especially the mackems 2 wins might be enough for us...starting tonight remain on 9, will revise tomorrow either way
  4. would you support the appointment of Allardyce again then, to run the club on a smaller budget, like you did the last time ? Or do you think he should be looking for someone who has won the title 4 times with 2 different clubs and 3 manager of the year awards ? Serious question, because we still really don't know what your criteria is for appointing managers ? and nobody cares either, because he doesn't have anything to do with appointing them
  5. but can't expensive football just borrow more money from, err....ah aaaaaaaaaand we're off!
  6. I think it was more the high profile he had, and the fact the manager didn't seem to know why he was there that was the problem. I was and am far from sure about Milne's role, but so long as the manager knows what's going on, why they're there and most importantly wants them there then there shouldn't be an issue. This is really the crux of the issue. If the guy's name wasn't Dennis Wise honestly nobody would have cared about him. Completely disagree with that. He never talked to the media, was barely visible in public, just went on with his job quietly, which was probably precisely what Ashley wanted him to do. If he was just another random Spanish bloke like Jimenez or Vertre nowhere near the same amount of vitriol would have been aimed at him. have to agree with this, the vitriol thrown at wise defied logic as far as i'm aware there's still no "evidence" that he did anything other than he was employed to do - if mike ashley instructed him to overrule keegan on transfers then fair enough, if he did that off his own back he deserves stick but should never have gotten away with it had he done it anyway looking at the budget constraints in place i still maintain a decent job was done, wise & team never made the budget they presumably just had to work within it
  7. magic, my new word of the day! gotta huge meeting at work in an hour and i'm gonna try and work in
  8. Not really, we'd certainly suffer from a huge drop in revenue but we're in a far better position than 3/4 of the Premiership as we do have an owner (currently) willing to bankroll the club. West Ham (37%) & Portsmouth (31%) would certainly suffer with a drop in revenue of that amount since both are already experiencing financial problems with no new funding likely to appear any time soon. The biggest impact for us is likely to be the impact the drop in revenue has on other team's transfer spending. We're relying on buyers coming in for much of the dead wood here. i meant if we went down primarily as i said later even if 37% don't renew that doesn't mean we'll be 37% down on gates, just more matchday stuff will be sold
  9. i reckon season ticket sales will drop across the board this season with match day tickets being taken if teams are any good the faithful will always be around but there'll always be flotsam& jetsam that go up and down with the times especially times like these
  10. It not just here and I wonder if people are falling out of love with football a little bit. definately, only thing that's galvanised me this season is shearer - i was utterly despondent before he came in i have blind faith he's gonna be some shining light of honesty at the club and will restore our pride if nothing else, if he turns out to be another clueless arsehole giving contracts to the duffs and smiths of this world i'll be devastated
  11. any truth in that you can stick a fork in us 'cause we'll be done

Did a quality job last time he was in this division. very true, and then....
  16. I think a football brain is exactly what he HAS got and what other midfielders that we have preferred are missing. Really? I beg to disagree. Plus he feels that he has to take every free kick and corner and you know that he will either hit the first man or sky the ball over the bar. Whereas Ryan Taylor and Duff are providing superb dead ball delivieries? I realise we are attempting to polish turds here but seeing as a collection of turds is all we have to choose from we probably need to look at each option carefully. If you don't like geremi as an option you can make a case for an alternative who will provide more? Calm down dear. I would prefer to see our midfield line up as Jonas, Guthrie, Barton, Lovenkrands if they are all fit on monday. I'd prefer to go for 4-3-3 if we have the fit personnel up front. Do you think Viduka will manage 90 minutes? I would hope so, and would go with 4-3-3 if Viduka could last more than 45 mins but I am not sure he will. I'd start it with Dukes up there, get Carrol on and into his position if he can't last. Owen's been useless of late in a 442 and I think Oba would struggle in that formation without the Dukes. Got to try and take advantage of what those two can offer us, and it has to be 433 even if the Duke can only play 45-60mins per game imo. right on, might as well start with our best even if they don't last i can't see any mileage in keeping our powder dry at this stage of proceedings, shit or bust basically
  17. your avatar is the first time i've seen a mock up with red numbers and it's sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet definately getting one now, somehow http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/avs/avatar_262.png yeah, its canny like... it's fucking superb is what it is - someone should really send this to the club somehow before they actually start selling so they see how uber cool it is think i'll get long sleeves and all, mint
