Seems Dembélé was just a massive Perez fan, as he was 17 at the time of those tweets playing for Rennes U18s Marca apparently reported on it first: https://amp.marca.com/futbol/balon-oro/2025/09/23/dembele-fan-ayoze-perez-jugador.html They end their article by stating that "The new Ballon d'Or winner certainly has a, specific, taste." which, to me, makes it feel like the correct question to ask Dembélé after he won the Ballon d'Or wasn't any of the obvious "normal" ones about how it felt and so on, it should've been this: (safety )

I'd assume that'd be because it's the one that broke our 70 year trophy dry spell?

Six players left and none have picked Man City so far, which inevitably will mean six Man City picks this round against Burnley. Will either be a complete non-event of a week, or @Groundhog63 will get his #rollover

Sigurdsson was a weird one given he ended up being cleared of all charges in the end. If it wasn't for what type of case it was I'd have imagined Everton would've tried going the legal route to get compensation after the fact, but given the type of case it was I can understand Everton deciding to just say "it is what it is" about any financial losses the case might've given them rather than go to court and fight it out given the fact it'd mean even more fairly negative press for them That type of legal issue seems like a nightmare for a public person to have to go through if they actually were innocent of the charges, which it does seem like Sigurdsson actually was (given the fact his wife stayed with him and supported him throughout, as well as his friends and extended family also doing so – even CAA (his agency) stuck by him, which is extremely odd for CAA as they might be most averse to negative PR among all the major international agencies...). Guy just had his entire career ripped away from him for no real* reason and when he finally got cleared of the charges, two years on, he'd find himself in a situation where he's been released by his club and having had to impact his family through having to live under false identities in a government safe house for the two years the investigation would end up taking. Given that he was cleared of the charges, you'd imagine he'd be entitled to compensation for the duress cause him and his family, as well as for lost income, right? Guess again, 'cause apparently you're not entitled to any compensation if falsely accused of being a paedo, the only course of action those accused and cleared of that has after being cleared would be a civil suit against the accuser(s) for damages – which, for theoretically innocent people, seems like a very harsh extra penalty for them to endure after potentially having already lived through one or more traumatic years before they were cleared of the charges * If he was guilty then of course he should have his career ripped away, in those circumstances it'd have been for very valid reasons!

Never trust Wikipedia's stats for anything: 🏟️ ⚽️ 🅰️ 🟡/🔴 ⏱️ That said, his total amount of minutes only add up to 85 full 90 minute matches

Head of the Isreal FA on Friday: “I’m surprised we’re still part of international tournaments. In many aspects, this is a miracle. Historically, countries have been suspended for much less.” Whilst saying what we all already know, he's kinda, at the same time, full-on admitting they're doing war crimes and getting away with it

If I'd have gotten £1 for every near-record breaking transfer signing for Chelsea that end up getting banned for drug use, I'd have £2 and not know if any other club in one of the top European leagues since the start of the 90s have even had one big-money transfer banned for drugs

He's facing a four year ban from professional football, guy has to do something with productive during that time I reckon

TIL essentially this, except the on-field ref has to decide if the encroaching player could have had "considerable effect" on the keeper's ability to concentrate about the penalty kick by encroaching, or if they had no effect on the keeper's concentration. Also only comes into play if the penalty is scored, if it is saved or missed the encroachment will be adjudged to not have effected the keeper's concentration. then the encroachment doesn't matter.

He's been good for Molde and Man Utd, two clubs he knows deeply. But he was absolute shit for Cardiff and Besiktas, which has me believing he's a good manager if he manages a club he's familiar with and knows how to approach managing before getting the gig in the first place. Granted, both the clubs he did shit for aren't clubs that are known to be easy for anyone to manage 1.79 PPG across all clubs (471 matches) isn't a shabby PPG total at all, though.

Why'd you hound out the third most successful manager in your club's history if you all loved him so much, then? FWIW, I don't necessarily think OGS is a very good manager per se. I do however 100% believe he was a fairly perfect fit to manage the club Man Utd had became under Fergie given how everything he does has been influenced by Fergie, one way or the other In my opinion Man Utd is one of those clubs that need someone to run it that "knows the club" and how it's meant to be run to achieve success, any and all outsiders coming in with new ideas and visions that aren't continuations/evolutions of pre-existing ideals/club identity will always end up failing. Fergie turned Man Utd into a mythological beast in a sense, which means you essentially need a Bishop who's a devout follower of the Gospel of Fergie rather than a "Manager". Not sure I managed to explain my thoughts well there, ah well it is what it is

Out of curiosity, @Froggy; are you still inclined to defend Amorim or have you finally started to see what everyone else is seeing? In particular after his recent interview where he stated he'd "never" alter his tactics for any player or club? The last time you had a permanent manager with a worse win percentage at the helm was in 1931, man... Also, I find it amusing how Man Utd fans seemingly trash talk OGS when his league PPG is the third highest of all time for a Man Utd manager. You replaced OGS's 1.81 league PPG with Ten Hag's 1.72 league PPG and then brought in Amorim's stunning 0.97 league PPG For clarity, Fergie had a league PPG of 2.16, Mourinho a league PPG of 1.89 (then OGS) with Van Gaal following in third with 1.79 league PPG. League PPG rather obviously excludes "PPG" for european fixtures and national cup fixtures, which if included would likely see some minor fluctuations for everyone.

One of my niche pet peeves is how ex-managers apparently can't go watch football matches in person just because they want to watch a match like the rest of us. They always have to be present "for a reason", for some reason Granted, there's of course time's when the timing would be all wrong – like if a manager at one of the clubs playing is known to be under pressure and similar as if they weren't actually in the mix to replace that manager it'd be kind of poor taste by them to attend as they'll know it'd do nothing but put their colleague under even more pressure from fans/media. But when they're unemployed, and perhaps even have been unemployed for some time – they should be allowed to be seen at a match without having any other reason for being there than "wanting to watch the match", imo.

25 years on, Jose has returned to the club that gave him his first gig as manager.
