  1. Exact score vs. Just qualifying, no? Seems pretty straightforward.
  2. CL is nowhere near eclipsing the WC in importance in any other way than big clubs getting money from it and not from the WC. It's the biggest club football tournament, but the WC is the biggest football tournament. 109 million watched the 2009 CL finale. 700 million watched the 2010 WC finale. On topic though, Messi is no doubt up there. But as mentioned before, he'll probably not go into history Maradona/Pele style before he's performed at a WC, no matter if it's "right" or "wrong". It's pretty much the difference twenty years in the future between "Messi was a great player on one of the greatest Barcelona incarnations in history" and "Messi was a great player and was a major part in bringing the World Cup to Argentina as well as being a major player in one of the greatest Barcelona incarnations in history."
  3. Just showed my dad the image of the potential shirt and his first reaction: "You're not buying that shit, that's fucking ugly."
  4. Met a Liverpool supporter today, he was surprisingly not a cunt when we discussed Carroll. Weird experience.
  5. I like to think he won't celebrate, hopefully he'll never get a chance to prove me wrong.
  6. What bugged me more was the Norwegian commentator going on about the "using Skrtel as a human shield" during corners as if it was something brand new Liverpool had made up for Carroll. The fucker's commentated matches Carroll did the same playing for us FFS.

  8. Carroll scored the third, sadly. It does hit Kolarov first, but then takes a bounce off the back of Carroll's head. At least from what I saw in the studio replays.
  9. Watching the replay it looks like it hits Kolarov and then bounces off Carroll's head. Hard to stop right at the split second it hits the head of whoever.
  10. Thought seeing him score would make me feel hatred, but all I felt was sadness and pain.
  11. I think everybody would turn greedy tbh. Thinking about it, most of us would probably say they'd be fine with £5k a week as long as they got to play for Newcastle. But now, if the situation was different and you'd be playing for some random club, you'd look at other people's wages and go "I want more, I'm talented enough to warrant more. I don't necessarily need more, but I still want more." and etc. I'm probably just ranting, but still. I seem to recall Van Nistelroy (sp?) saying the wages he got at Man U were ridiculous, no-one needed that kind of money, and being reprimanded by Fergie/the club for saying anything at all. Personally speaking I would definitely place job satisfaction above more money; especially when we are talking at that level of income. Pretty much every working person wants a raise, even if they don't think tey do. Say you're a secretary, you don't make too much money but you're happy in your job. Then, a new company comes along and offers you a small raise to come work for them. In this scenario, you value your job satisfaction above a meagre raise and turn them down. But then, a week later, another company comes after you, a richer company. They offer you twice what you're on to do the same job, you don't really need the money because you already get by well, but it is more money. Everybody wants more money, even if you don't really need it, so you go work for the rich company instead. Decent analogy? I'd say it's pretty much the same in "silly money" professions as well, you always hunger for more dosh even if you don't have any use for it as it's the way humans are brought up, money = power.
  12. I don't think we should have fan's who creep and lurk tbh. Wormy is a god, man. 22.919 posts a day since he started posting regularily, almost Dave-esque.

    Arsenal Takeover

How loaded is Usmanov? He should blatantly sell up, buy us and toss money at us causing us to upstage Arsenal just to spite them.
  15. It's an advert. This isn't, though:

    Nile Ranger

Needs a loan move with regular matching desperately, his positioning and vision can't improve without playing matches and we can't afford to let him learn playing for us. Soggy-face said something about Walker that rings true with Ranger as well (I paraphrase) “Kyle will be back here for sure, he’s still learning and got miles to learn but he is a talent, a real prospect but we loaned him out so he can learn somewhere else and make any beginner mistakes for someone else.”
  18. If I believed we'd see any of the potential £15m I'd almost be inclined to think it may be good business given his contract situation and our lack of ambition.
  19. It was a fairly safe bet mind, and it'd gone in if the ref wasn't a blatant Lillestrøm supporter. My points stands, though. Fair enough. That said I'll see you again in the summer when there's nowt else on.

  21. Looked like it was a corner, but your right the time was out and they ref should have ended the game before the corner. Replay showed it was Kippe's thigh that knocked it out as well. Looking forward to beat you guys next Tuesday! If you do it'll be a proper crisis, worst league start since the seventies IIRC.

  23. At least this week I'd not advised it. I'm so angry right now, it's undescribable, and not because I lost a bet but because that has to be perhaps the worst refereeing I've witnessed in a football match. Fucking hell.
