You can essentially liken it to watching a movie on mute, I guess. Or without a proper sound design, just using the shitty raw set takes.

As a television viewer, it doesn't matter if there's an audience at the stadium or not, it's all just still football, so I understand where Conjo is coming from. For the players, it'll matter, which in turn will have an effect on the quality the television viewer gets to experience, so I also understand where Sewelly is coming from.

It's perfectly comparable. The club is privately owned, we consume the product its workers put out. It's a company that produces entertainment, which in turn people pay money to watch - and perhaps also pay money to buy merch.

Norwegian press is cool, was a story today about how PIF has bought into Facebook, Disney and Boeing. Then they went into how they're trying to buy us, and how there's tons of protest but none whatsoever with the other buy-ins. Then went into how a lot of Norwegian commentators have been critical to the Newcastle deal, but said nothing when PIF bought into Equinor (Norwegian state owned company).

In more hypocrisy, we were fine with bin laden and the likes when he was kicking the soviets arses with the Mujadeen in Afghanistan. âCrack on Ossy bonny lad. Up the goonersâ Kaizero[/member] worked with Bin Laden. True story. A Bin Laden. Not the Bin Laden. I'm knee deep with the Saudis these days anyhow. My only moral is the dollar.

Hertha Berlin from my time living there. Dortmund because Haaland.

Can you elaborate? It's information through work related deals for my own projects waiting on signatures, so can't elaborate beyond me not being worried one iota that is. Sorry if it's not helpful, but either way I'm still a stranger on the Internet so in the grand scheme of things it won't help any worries anyway
-
Kanji[/member] knows my reasoning for believing this, but there's literally no reason whatsoever to worry.

The PL checks possibly taking four weeks, then calculating from when the news broke.
-
I mean, planning on multiple fronts is fairly common. They'll be waiting for the PL checks to be finished so it'll be official, but you'd imagine they'll be confident enough in that happening to actually be working on their investment so they'll not have to catch up once they've been handed the keys. It would be a lot weirder if they were not ready to roll from day one.

Our banana kit is perhaps my favourite of the recent era.

UEFA has stated that the leagues are to nominate their qualifying teams based on sporting merit, i.e. if they cancel the league and keep the current standings for who wins the league, the same would go for the teams qualifying for Europe. UEFA holds the right to disagree with the teams put forward by the national FAs in the event they obviously did not qualify on sporting merit.
-
How long are you allotting for all the lawsuits? I read the Dutch league might overturn their decision to cancel the season due to the lawsuits clubs are bringing.

I mean, imagine if by pure law of averages, HTT ends up being correct with his 3pm bullshit. We'd never live it down

Thankfully the bubble is going to burst and big time imo. Are the numbers for League Two meant to be high? Genuine question, wages aren't comparable between country due to currency differences and so on, but half of the League Two numbers look like less than minimum wage over here, which made me genuinely interested in the level of average wage in the UK vs strength of currency/buying power. Or is it meant to showcase the difference between players and the rest of the staff? That's what I assumed from Collymore's tweet, but the article having the headline "the eye watering sums spent across the EFL" felt like they meant all of it.

The FA (or probably FIFA) should be looking to change the rules regarding registration to get around the contracts quagmire - perhaps a player canât transfer his league registration until his old clubâs season has finished. FIFA already likely to state a footballing contracts purpose is "until the end of the season", not June 30th, so players will have to see out their seasons should their respective leagues run over June 30th. The FA's issue however is that British employment law counteracts FIFAs interpretation, so players in England can challenge FIFAs ruling and likely leave on a free on June 30th anyhow.

They're objecting at the Saudis getting a chance to "clean" their international reputation using sports, which in itself is fair enough. However, if they don't join the rest of the world there's no reason for them to do anything better either. There's no guarantee they'll improve conditions within their country and culture, but the chances are surely better now they want to make their economy not dependent on oil, and therefore them being dependent on being a part of the rest of the world and be on good terms.
-
Beyond voting for a government that could condemn the nation and not work with them on trade and other issues, there's not much to do with the Saudis having their fingers in almost every pie these days. As Kanji says, the heightened scrutiny they might be under if they own a successful football club might be a positive with regards to pushing their culture into this century. The nation being more isolated rather than a part of a more global society would be much more negative for its people. On a personal note, I have no issue with working with Saudis.

Your point being? Two points: - The NY Times journalists who won a Pulitzer for their investigation in state funded terrorism know about Saudi Arabia. The analysts at the Department of Treasury in the US know about SA. This guy does not. - Do you boycott petrol too? Of course he does...he knows it from the NY Times journalists (and other sources). He is the Chief Sports writer for The Guardian ffs. You and I know enough about Saudi Arabia anyway to make an informed choice. I have no control over boycotting petrol. If I could buy ethical petrol I would. I will continue to boycott NUFC. Buy an electric car if you care so much May well do the next time we change car. Was Saudi Arabia a drastically different country last time you bought a car? Fair point but I think you're stretching your argument a little. I think there's a difference between essential car use and voluntarily paying to watch a team directly funded by the SA regime. Why? you are providing them with money and you have a choice not to by getting an electric car. Both fundamentally have the same benefit to Saudi Arabia by either buying petrol or spending money with the club. Edit: I for one will continue to consume petrol and spend money with the club. I do not have a choice whether to drive or not*. I may buy an electric car next time out...bloody expensive last time I looked. I do have a choice about putting money into NUFC. *I actually cycle to work and it's the Mrs who drives the car so she is funding the beheaders not me. Generally cheaper. Than a five year old Mondeo? Used cars But yes, if you're talking used cars petrol cars lose value quicker than electric and would thus be cheaper - for the up front price. Though the money saved on not buying petrol would change the final calculation regardless, and depending on the laws and regulations in the UK being similar to what I'm used to (Norway) you'd also save on not paying tolls, cheaper taxes, insurance and other expenses.
