He's rather unstable, can very from International star to a sunday league player in the same match. But he's been rather consistent for Rosenborg in the Norwegian league as of late, and I have no doubt he can become a star for any Premier League side with some proper match training at premier league level and the proper guidance.

I'd sign Andreas Sørgård Olsen, he's looked class for his second division club in Norway this season and today he put up quite a performance against Norwegian top division side Vålerenga. He's got speed, apparently skill and he's still young meaning he could probably become rather good with the right coaching. And the fact that he's in such a low division in Norway means we could prolly get him for nothing and throw him out without any hassle if he couldn't prove good enough. And Rosenborg's Per Ciljan Skjelbred and Daniel Braaten I'd reckon would be good signings as well. And Bjørn Helge Riise, brother of John Arne Riise. Anyways, that's just my biased nationalistic opinion on players as It'd be the happiest day of my life if a Norwegian player put on the black and white shirt I do quite like when obscure players are signed and turn out to be class superstar players though, so yeah... I'm actually not too happy with big million signings as I'd rather have the club "create" players that would become players other big clubs would throw money at us for. I reckon that's the way we have to go this summer anyways as the already big and known players would prolly not sign for a non-europe club before we become an in-europe club.

Some horrid, horrid kits here. Just... How anyone could design kits like these is beyond me. Don't they have eyes? And I think someone should start a "Best kits in football history" thread as well. I'd do it myself but I don't have 100 posts like.

It's a givernment conspiracy! On a serious note though, I'm glad he's here. I feel he'll be a valuable asset.

If Arsenal paid us a few million quid and was responsible for his wages I'd say we'd take him. Other than that, no, not even on a free.

Based on the Norway - Malta game I'd rather see us sign Bjørn Helge Riise tbh.

Trond Sollied :WHO? what a joke!!!! One of the most promising managers in the world at current mind you. http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/club=2610/coach.html Trond Sollied Tuesday, 1 August 2006 Date of birth: 29 April 1959 Nationality: Norwegian Coaching career: FK Bodø/Glimt, Rosenborg BK, KAA Gent, Club Brugge KV, Olympiacos CFP Trond Sollied is a Norwegian coach with the happy knack of winning titles in whatever country he has worked in. He took over at Olympiacos CFP in the summer of 2005 after a particularly successful spell with Club Brugge KV and continued his winning ways in Athens, leading Olympiacos to the league and cup double in his first season in charge. Sollied enjoyed a relatively successful playing career, turning out for various clubs including Vålerenga IF, Rosenborg BK and FK Bodø/Glimt as well as winning 15 caps and scoring once for Norway. He began his coaching career at Bodø/Glimt in 1992 and, as player-coach, he led them to a Norwegian first division title, a second-placed finish in the top flight and third place in 1995. He was dismissed in 1996 after a dispute with the club's board and joined Rosenborg as assistant coach to Nils Arne Eggen. Rosenborg won the title that year and again in 1998 after Sollied had replaced Eggen as coach. He subsequently moved to Belgium and after a brief spell at KAA Gent joined Club Brugge KV in the summer of 2000. His coaching philosophy of a physical approach and strong team spirit proved successful with two Belgian league titles in 2003 and 2005 and two cup successes in 2002 and 2004. He left the Belgian club in somewhat acrimonious circumstances in June 2005 before promptly taking over at Olympiacos. Despite a successful first season on the domestic front, Olympiacos were unable to make an impression in the UEFA Champions League. Also apparently ranked 9th of "top ten managers" by UEFA some while ago. http://www.aftenposten.no/english/sports/article1412744.ece I'm not going against the obvious though, I can't honestly thinking any other man than Big Sam getting the job. I'm just saying that I'd rather see Sollied in that position.

Nuneaton Borough's crest at least like. Not Leicester City's that's for sure.

cracking player! how old? 25-ish, me thinks. I'd like him in Newcastle, though his performance does vary from world class to miserable from match to match.
-
Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Per_Ciljan_Skjelbred Pretty much says it all tbh. He even has CL experience at his young age, and was offered a junior contract with Liverpool at one point, but turned them down.

Now, I dunno if there's loads of similar threads beyond the first page, and I honestly can't be arsed to check it out. So sorry if I'm repeating a topic. The question is simply, which players would you like to see sign for Newcastle before next season, regardless of whoever gets appointed to manger? Though, keep it realistic as to which players you'd want. And not ramble on about players we'd prolly never see on the Newcastle side until we'd be a top-four team. Personally, I don't really have a special opinion on which players I'd like to see. Though I would like it if we brought in some young great potentials as well as some already well known names. Per Ciljan Skjelbred on the Newcastle team I wouldn't mind tbh. Though he'd prolly need one or two more years of experience before getting a first-team spot.

Even if this is only just another "New Manager- lolwtfbbq?" thread among the many. I have to say I do support the idea of a foreign manager rather than Big Sam. My favourite would have been Trond Sollied, as he practically never changes his view on playing attacking football. And I would love an attacking Newcastle side rather than a Newcastle focusing on long passes, hoping that the ball ends with a player in black and white. Though I can't really think of any other manager being appointed than Big Sam after all this media focus on him.
-
I'm dissapointed, I don't think he's a bad manager mind. But I just think we could have gotten someone better. I still think Trond Sollied would have been the man for the job, would have loved to see what he could do with Newcastle.

http://gfx.dagbladet.no/pub/artikkel/4/44/443/443118/trsoll.jpg Couldn't have said it better myself. Though I can't honestly say I'd be anything else than shocked if it doesn't end up being Big Sam as our new manager. Personally I don't really think that much about any of the options.

I visited Newcastle last year, but that was to visit some friends of mine, and it was unfortunately during the summer so I didn't get a chance to attend a game. But yeah, I've never really noticed that Newcastle was a greatly supported team in Norway. Though, I do come from a rather small town so the variation of football fans probably isn't too great. Good to see that there's loads of us scandinavians supporting the team, I've always felt kinda left alone since I didn't really know about anyone else in my town, or country, supporting the team. But then came ze Internet, and here I am now Makes me feel warm inside.

lol was going to be my reply but you finished reading it first As for Daniel Braaten, aye he looks fast direct and very handy but youtube is up there with FM to be honest. Used to be class on FM on the one before he moved to Rosenborg. Always was my first buy. Daniel Braaten isnt even a starter i Rosenborg. He only play 15 min, the rest he goes around watching the rest playing footy. The game against Real Madrid, was the best game of his career. What was the rosenborg excuse for him, he was using so much strength when he runned, that he got to much or to little oxygen in his legs. Thats why he didnt work so much For Per Cilijan Skjelbreid, he was a good player before his injury. But it seems like it has scared the living shit out of him. I would rather we bought his mate, dunno his name. But i bet u know, as it seems that u are a RBK fan. If I was to choose someone to come here from the Norwegian Tipperlia, it would be on of these; Koren, Mifsund, Hæstad, Strømstad , Grindheim or Bjørn Helge Riise. "I would rather we bought his mate, dunno his name." Michael Kleppe Jamtfall? And as for the other names, I agree in all but Bjørn Helge Riise. He's already been trying his luck outside the Norwegian borders. And returned to Norway rather a failure. He's impressed in Lillestrøm though, and he could prolly live long on being John Arne Riise's brother. Hæstad and Strømstad haven't been as impressive this season as last though, but could probably make a fearsome midfield duo on any team. As seen in Norwegian International games versus rather greater opponents. Koren and Mifsund, yeah. Good players, but them as well I wouldn't think would fit in with the English game. Grindheim on the other hand, though he too not being as impressive this season as the last. He would probably manage to adjust to the Premier League in a matter of weeks, if not days. As for Skjelbred. Yeah, he's been down after his injury. But that's what happens to most players I presume. I do belive though, that he will still become a great player, over time. If he gets the right guidance and training that is. Ah well, that ends my rant this time about the Norwegian players =P

I'd throw in Per Ciljan Skjelbred in the mix of talents in the Norwegian Tippeliga. That kid got a great future.
-
Owen. Was between him and Parker but Owens rather great history made me choose him above Parker. Though I have my doubts about Owen ever coming back as people knew him before his injury.
-
xD I dug my own topic's grave with that one, didn't I? Naturally I ment 'a player that would not be a big name signing' =P
-
What "unkown" player would I like to see in black and white? I was asking myself that question the other day, tired from all the "which big name should we buy" discussions as I was. Why waste too much money on big name signings when we could get some non-expensive talents and possibly create even bigger stars than the ones we could buy for unmentionable amounts of pounds? What about all the "undiscovered" non-expensive-to-buy talents out there? So I decided to actually make a discussion thread about just that. What "unknown" footballer would you be pleased to see sign for the club? I myself have long been convinced that a footballer for the Norwegian side Rosenborg could do great for us, I've witnessed his skills with the ball first hand as I've attended a few of Rosenborgs games. Including one against Real Madrid, in which Daniel Braaten made a great effort and single-handed almost defeated the opposition. I've added two "mixed" vids of him in action. And by playing with footballers as Roberto Carlos I'd say he's already proven that he could deal with a level of intencity like the one in the premiership. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGbDXIdasrc Though, I wouldn't want to be the only one going on about unkown talents. So I repeat my previous question: What unkown footballer do you think would do great? Feel free to state your opinion and discuss about players mentioned, if anyone have heard or seen enough of them to make up an opinon about them that is =P
