If the fans can't get behind an appointment like this then they need to give their heads a shake. We aren't going to get Mourinho and they're rightfully avoiding Shearer - who is still mates with a number of the players, it's too soon for him.

As great as Lippi and Van Gaal would be they aren't realistic IMO. Martin Jol would be the best choice, he plays good football, finished 9th 5th and 5th with Spurs, very narrowly missing out on top 4, and has the experiance of managing a club similar to ours in terms of money and ambition. Personally i don't see why people would consider Mark Hughes a better option.

Sven is doing fantastic considering he had to almost build a squad from scratch when he arrived. And City in full flow are very impressive, i can't say the same for any other non-top 4 team.

There's only one winner there, Sven. None of the rest will lose as they will float up and down midtable and be hailed as great managers purely because they're British.

Where does all this Shearer stuff come from? Is it just the press, or is there really that many people that want him?

You've got to ignore it. Newcastle can't do right by most of these people and the club and fans will be slagged off no matter what, even if we break the top 4 and become a force we'll be slagged off for spending money etc. You've especially got to try and ignore what fans of other clubs say aswell, football fans are generally angry little fuckers and they treat football like a war, using every situation to try and get one over "the enemy". You can't take what these people say seriously.

I put him in the same boat as Shearer, he has little to no experiance. Also i wonder how much of Germanys success was down to the assistant(and current coach) Low. Klinsmann left and their form has carried on under him.

There's a couple of better options out there, but i would definitaly take him over Redknapp, Hughes etc. He plays football the right way and did well to get Spurs to 5th twice in a row.

We're supposed to know our place. Personally i think Tottenham and Newcastle generally have attitudes to be admired, both have proper ambition, and that's what sport is about. I hate these people that are happy with mediocrity.

Diarra, our midfield needs to be the priority IMO. It's our biggest weakness. Having said that i would be over the moon with Laursen.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he left in the summer, if Villa don't give him what he wants then he won't have any bother finding a club that will. The sad thing is it will probably be someone like Chelsea again. Gits.

How on earth is Owen still world class? He wouldn't even get in a top 20 of strikers. Too generous to Smith, Butt, and Cacapa aswell IMO.

Kazenga looked like a decent technical player, i'd like to see more of him this season.
