  1. That's basically how I've seen football for years. There's nothing particularly noteworthy or remarkable about Liverpool winning the league, the only remarkable thing is that they managed 30 years without winning it.
  2. I’d love to know what the recruitment process is like for pundits. How does Shola get a look in? Is there a producer sitting in a booth going “oh Ameobi is on fire, this is gold, get him booked up again!”
  3. I think no and it will drag on for a while yet.

They didn’t have the money to take over that club though, they came across as sincere in the documentary but essentially they are gamblers. I thought that story had been rubbished / played down? Either way, I did find them both very sincere and appeared on the surface at least to hold the club’s best interests at heart. I don't even mean that story, a generous estimate of Donald Stewart's wealth would have been around £8m. The club was losing far more than that per year and they seemed to be looking for investors almost immediately after buying the club.

  6. I'm not surprised that's what he thinks, journalists these days seem to live on twitter and genuinely see it as representative of the general population.
  7. The Zidane link was just clickbait.
  8. My gut feeling is that certain clubs are putting a lot of pressure on the premier league, and the premier league may be looking for excuses to prevent the takeover and keep those clubs on-side. They have to be wary of pissing them all off. We don't really know wtf is happening though and I'm a pessimist when it comes to football.
  9. It’s possible that there will never be a vaccine for this.

I wouldn't celebrate them going bust, that wouldn't be classy. I would just watch with satisfaction.
  11. I wonder what Guardiola thinks about the way Walker is carrying on, given his own experiences in the last couple of months. I wouldn't be surprised if they bin him.
  12. That Simon Chadwick doesn't know anything, when the Saudi's were first linked a long time ago he completely dismissed the idea because it didn't fit in with his own theory about their investment strategy. The man is out of the loop on a subject that he trades on being an expert in.
  13. I’d be surprised if Rafa wasn’t first choice and I expect he will want the job, and given he hasn’t ruled himself out I’ve no reason to change my mind. The lack of media talk means nothing.
  14. I think it's become pretty clear that the season isn't going to be concluded, the premier league are just going to argue about it for a few weeks so that the problems are drummed into peoples heads before it's made official.
  15. This was always my response with Pardew, no one seemed to want the fucker at their club but they thought Newcastle should keep him.

I’ve been watching the Sunderland death show and I’ve got to say it’s fantastic, if I wasn’t a Newcastle fan I would be full of sympathy for them. These shows only really work when they’re full of tragedy and dysfunction and they struck gold with Sunderland. Not filming a 3rd season seems like a poor decision.
  17. The fit and proper persons test isn't about preventing bad people from owning clubs, it's about preventing financially dubious people from taking over clubs and destroying them. I doubt it would be legal to try and prevent the sale of a club based on the politics of the people buying, unless the government was leading the way, and they can't say "you can invest in anything you want lads, apart from football clubs".
  18. I fully believe that Rafa with a good transfer budget and control over transfers would get us competing with the best of the rest after 2/3 seasons. Obviously things can change quickly but right now there are only 2 top teams in the league. Arsenal are on a downward trajectory, it could be the same for Spurs, Man Utd are handcuffed to Solskjaer so they’re not competing with the top 2 any time soon, and who knows how Lampard will work out at Chelsea. Leicester and Wolves are good examples of what a wise transfer policy will get you, and Everton is a good example of what not to do. The top 6 isn’t the unbreakable elite group that some would like us to believe.
  19. My dream would be a sky punditry team of Sam, Souness, and Bellamy sat there watching us win the league.
  20. What a weird fantasy team. All that investment and Manquillo in at RB.
  21. I’m sure there’s a huge keeper fuck up in every game I watch these days.
  22. Just turned over and saw it. How long has Waddle had that going on?
  23. That’s a shocking decision, Fred pushed him into the player.
