  1. Christ man if I was basing my opinion on who had the best squad...I would have picked Milan to win. I do think Spurs will improve quite a bit. They have some very good players, but the club has been in constant chaos the past two seasons. And I don't see why the likes of Roman Pavlyuchenko, Bent, Dos Santos, Bentley, or whichever striker they buy in Jan. (You know they will) can't score an important goal. Last year the winning goal was scored by Igor Denisov, who is inferior to all the players above. Crucial goals for Rangers came from Claude Darcheville (fat midget) and Steven Whittaker. Last year Getafe were about a minute away from the semi finals against Munich despite finishing about three points off relegation at year's end. Yet they almost were in UEFA cup again this year because they also managed to get to Copa del Rey final. Funny that a team that I believe is quite talented, and being led by a man who has won this competition twice has a chance to shock people and win. They are my pick to win. Stop crying about it please. Why don't you select who will win. We can debate the merit of the selections in May.
  2. Carrick-18.6 million Obi-16 million Mascherano-18.6 million Fellaini-15 million It's the going rate.
  3. Is it not good that Inter are buying, or is it not good that the other teams are selling? Only reason the whole Aquilani thing has come up is because Roma doesnt have a pure attacker when Totti is gone, they have to consider their options. Can people just realize that sometimes it isnt a big conspiracy behind all big club transfers? Roma choses to sell, just like they did when they let Mancini go. No one said it was a conspiracy. I'm just know that Mancini was one of Roma's best players last seasom...same with Aquilani. I don't mind them selling the player, but selling the player to the team your chasing seems like a bad idea to me. I guess they are alright as long as they replace him with quality...they need a top class striker too. Menez, Baptista, and Okaka aren't going to win them the scudetto. Wilson Palacios and Valencia are much more likely to end up at the likes of Tottenham, Villa, or Everton, or a decent team in Spain, then at Manchester United. However, Palacios is better than Scholes (who is completely and totally past it and a n shadow of the player he was) and maybe Anderson (Who is talented, but has hasn't matured or found the correct poistion for himself yet.)
  4. What is to say they will continue to be s***? I really do think they are going to get better...as teams do every season. I understand people here hate Spurs, but it is ridiculous to make a judgement on a team's entire season at the beginning of October!
  5. Why do you think its a joke?...because they are bottom after seven games? Stupid way of thinking. The UEFA Cup final is in March. ...May even
  6. It's not good when Inter are buying the best players from the team that's been their nearest rival for the past two seasons.
  7. Marseille are much stronger than PSV. The squad they have is very talented, and in my opinion has improved even with the losses of Nasri and Ribery. There is alot of fire power with Mamadou Niang, Baky Kone, Ziani, Ben Arfa, and of course thunderbolt Taiwo. Also they have Cheyrou and Cana who are solid and in Mandanda they have a career who can produce the spectacular (And occasionally the ridiculous). Also they are undefeated in Ligue 1 this season. Forgive me if I am overhyping them...but they are kind of my second team. I watch them every week, and they have certainly have more talent and a greater team spirit this year under Eric Gerets. (And they also have Tyrone Mears . I think AC Milan will face the same fate as Munich last year. Their team of global stars will run into a talented and much hungrier side that is looking for its first piece of glory. Milan will not be up to the task.
  8. This competition has ALOT of quality teams this year. I mean compare the quality of this one to the year Boro and Sevilla made the final. Anyway, I think the title will either go to Tottenham or Zenit St. Petersburg...I would also look for whoever come third in the Liverpool, Marseille, PSV, Atletico CL group.
  9. That's a class interview!....How the hell do you become unsettled after less than half a season?
  10. Reports from Nigeria are indicating that Michael Adenuga is a large part of the Nigerian consortium looking to take over Newcastle. He is a telecommunications mogul that owns Globacom. This company sponsors the Nigerian national team as well as the Nigerian Premier League. Adenuga is real money though, and considering that others are also actively involved, it seems like there would certainly be enough money for transfers and things like that.
  11. Gravesen?....we already have the slowest midfield in the league.
  12. Christ man!! Really! We ought to keep Barton at this point also. And also N'Zog will never be anything else than average sorry.
  13. We haven't sunk this low. There is no reason to bring back Carr. There was no reason to bring back Bernard or Srnicek. It's just pointless. There are other players available. Who are fitter younger and better. This is just laziness.
  14. We buy strikers every summer anyway. Really I can't remember the last time we didn't buy a striker or two over the summer. It is amazing how many big name strikers we have bought in....only for the majority to fail.
  15. BBc quotes 12 million dollars which is somewhere around 6.5 million pounds.
  16. Yep, he left like last week. It's a shame....he was quite an entertaining player. Although that club does seem to have had some decent players. In fact I think they own Karate.
  17. I really don't mind dissent, and I don't see why there are ideas of such harsh punishments. A yellow card is fine. midds...what you are proposing is stupid and gimmicy. Allowing teams to place freekicks wherever they want....that would be insane. Dissent is far from the biggest problem in football, and frankly as long as the referees have some control over the match dissent should not be a problem. Yellow cards aren't insignificant...if a player steps too far over the line....fine book him. End of story. Unfortunately, referees are generally poor now it seems
  18. Ya he plays for Al Jazira. He is far too yong to be wasting time in the UAE. Surely he could have gotten bigmoney elsewhere.
  19. Babayaro is still unemployed and I think he will be fine that way until he realises he is low on funds for his daily trips to the strip clubs and brothels. Maybe he will look for a club then. Shame he wasted his talent because he was a lazy idiot.
  20. IT is seriously depressing looking at Nicky Butt compared to the other holding midfielders in the Premiership not to mention the rest of the footballing world. I mean watching Carrick, Mikel, and Hargreaves effortlessly intercept the ball and spray picture perfect passes to attacking players, or watching Essien and Mascherano getting in the way of everything and providing that extra drive. I mean can't we get in players with at least some of these atrributes. Hell we could even take Zokora off of Spurs hands. He may be a bit s***, but at least he will run around put some effort in, and DO SOMETHING, unlike Butt who just loses the ball and then makes ridiculous tackles.
  21. Barring the ACN Martins has probally been the most available player since his arrival. He recovered from all his other injuries very quickly tbh.
  22. That's because he's built a squad, like Dennis Wise was apparently employed to do. No I won't bother if that's ok with you. Right ok then. Lets try it. Take RB LB 2 centre midfielders one winger and 2 strikers which is what we are currently missing (I'll consider 1 if you don't see Viduka as first team). So thats, Young, Shorey, Reo-Coker, Barry Young Agbonglohor/Carew. Meaning this leaves you with the following villa team. Friedel. Cuellar Laursen Davies Bouma Routeledge Sidwell Petrov Gardner Harewood Milner Not quite top 6 team now is it. As is the same with most, look at how much ball riding Man Utd got when Tevez and Ronaldo weren't there. The team you have quoted would still pee all over our so-called 'second' team...O'Neill is a very good manager who has bought good players - Milner included...Get over it, I would have LOVED to have O'Neill at SJP, yes, even in front of KK. I would have bet every last penny I have that MON at SJP with a similar board to the one he has a Villa, would have been just as successful as he has been at Villa - even though they had some good young players(like Agbonlahor)when he joined them. Don't think that would do anything in the situation Newcastle is in. Hell I think Chelsea might struggle without a manager or owner.
