Ramos sacked; Harry Redknapp takes over at Spurs
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to Menace's topic in Football
It would make sense. Harry is fantastic at operating on a budget anyway. Great at finding obscure talent. I am amazed he would leave Portsmouth though. By the way, Sky Sports are carrying some story about Mourinho being in talks with United, that doesn't even make sense. -
Ramos sacked; Harry Redknapp takes over at Spurs

By the way...what do they er...plan to do now. They have no sporting director, no manager, and have fired their two first team coaches. I mean unless they have something lined up, that seems awfully drastic. -
Ramos sacked; Harry Redknapp takes over at Spurs

Holy s***. Amazed at the way things have turned at that club. Really bet Ramos rues leaving Sevilla who are a better club anyway. You'd think they'd have let them play tommorrow though. I actually feel bad for Ramos. The real problem is Comolli. Ever since Comolli replaced Arnesen, things have started to go badly for Spurs. -
f*** off man. This current Sunderland team would have raped some of sides put out in the last few years of Shepard's reign.
-
I don't think any of our current strikers will be here next year except maybe Alan Smith. Owen is gone for sure. This is Shola's last stand. I have an inkling that Martins is tired of this and will probaly want to go. Viduka should f*** off and play in the A-League, and Xisco didn't really sign up for all of this.
-
Why are we slating Kinnear like this after three games in a very tough situation? I think he is decent and should stay until the end of the season. We need stability more than anything else. Fans are so fickle and angry all the time. Probaly the same idiots who thought Keegan was useless last year after a string of useless results. Once we get this new owner, we will have had 3 different owners and 4 different managers in about 2 and a quarter seasons. That is insane. You think the fans would at least give people a chance ffs.
-
You think our strike force is week this year? Really? You must have missed Roeder's season at the helm, when we were regulatly starting Sibierski and Dyer next to Martins (Who was thrown into the deep end in an incredible way). Sorry but while on paper the quality looked poor, think you'll find they did a job, these boys simply aren't. Our last 5 goals, 1 striker 1 midfielder 1 defender scoring, thats piss poor, Martins needs to pull his finger out, watching them today it seemed like they were more concerned about getting away in time for his birthday. I'm sorry but I think you are wrong on that front mate. In the league that year we only had two players score five or more goals Oba (11) and Dyer (5). I think that squad is easily the worst of this decade. Besides Dyer, there is not one play gone from that side that we miss. At this point in that season Martins had scored once, and a crippled Ameobi (As opposed to the somewhat fit looking one now) was our main goal scorer.
-
I have to agree. I thought Oba did very well in the matches he had been able to play this season, but his performance today was the worst I have seen from him since his first two or three here, when he was the only striker we had. Really awful. Ameobi was alright. But even if both of them had played well, we still wouldn't have scored from open play (unless Oba or Ameobi did something sublime) because our midfield just provided nothing, at all. There really weren't any good passing movements from the center and our wide men provided very little. I thought Butt and Guthrie also did a terrible job moving the ball forward from defence. I always felt like we were right back under pressue after our midfielders received the ball. This is why we need Barton starting every match.

I wouldn't be surprised if Barcelona finish third or fourth this year again. Like a better version of Arsenal, they just seem too shaky for me.

it's a bit like international football then, this DOF system. the coach isnt in charge of what players he has at his disposal so can't tailor a plan and go and get people specifically for it. instead, he has to make do with what he is given, no matter how unbalanced or incomplete, in the same way england had to make do without a left winger for over a decade. No not really. Not at all.

Does Xisco's situation bear similarities with that of Jose Enrique?
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to a topic in Football
Injured IIRC The club never mention him, he might as well not exist. Another inspired signing. Sign unknown foreigners, forcing out the current manager in the process, then bring in an old school English manager who is never going to pick them anyway? Genius. What the f*** does this have to do with the player being injured? It's amazing how people like you can insert opinions about the board in threads that have nothing to with it. -
Should be more pissed off that his star player went missing for the majority of the game. Wish some of our star players would go missing like Robinho did on Monday. Got his side the penalty and made the assist. Read it again. Oh well fair enough yeah, he drifted out of the game when we were on top, but he was still productive.

awful dirty mackems v Newcastle United, Saturday 25th October

When I was checking to see if he was fit for Man City on the BBC, he wasn't listed in that squad either. I'm thinking it's just a continuation of the same mistake by the BBC. -

Would it not be better to stick with the 4-4-2 rather than just randomly change to a completely new system for such a big game? Im not sure I've seen any team play that system tbh. Is uppose we sort of did when we play tino as a right wingback. That system doesn't even make sense. Surely this "DM" would be better employed as a defender? Regardless...he would probaly end up playing in defense anyway as there are two box to box midfielders in front of him. -
I'k just confused by QPR in general. If they are so deadset on promotion why haven't they invested more in the team? They have the funds. It seems like they have had all the negative effects of a massive cash injection without actually having a massive cash injection. However, Dowie was considered a bad appointment by most anyway, maybe it is an Avram Grant situation, and they have someone lined up already. Maybe Dowie was just keeping the seat warm.

Will the DOF structure get two clubs relegated in one season?
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to Parky's topic in Football
how exactly had the DOF system been working well for spurs? they finished 11th last season, 1 place above us. From my knowlegde, the DOF system has been in effect at Spurs since 2004, when Jol and Frank Arsenen were brought in. Comolli replaced Arsenen when he f***** off to Chelsea. In 2004-2005 they finished midtable. In 2005-2006 they finished an agonizing fifth after they swung low at the sweet Marriot. They finished fifth the next season also. Obviously in the last two years things have gone completely insane. However, one cannot discount the fact that they still won a major domestic honour last season and are competing UEFA Cup for another year. everton have done better in that time with much less investment. they had limited success (5th place isn't really a success but whatever) but a good system will give consistent improvement. the fact that they have gone completely insane over the last couple of years should be a clue that the system is not working. Everton are not lighting up the place this year but whatever. I don't see how you can say the system isn't working now based on a season and eight games, when three seasons differ with this but ok. Everton have done alright for themselves but even they have struggled. Do not forget that they also had a 17th place and 11th place finish during the regime of Moyes. What is to say Spurs cannot do what Everton did a comeback with a vengeance next season. Even stil, Everton have realised they will have to invest if they want to keep up. That is why they have splased 12 million on Yakubu and 15 million on Felliani. Even Villa have spent a vey large sum of money. yawn. All the clubs with a DOF are at the bottom of the league, while all the clubs at the top have a manager who runs everything to do with the playing side. End of. You know I don't mean to offend you sir, but you really do come off as an idiot sometimes. So, according to the this particular league table in October of this season, you can draw that all DOF's are bad and all traditional British managerial systems are good. Good on you. You have proven that you have the logic and reasoning of a young child. You cannot dismiss what has happened before, because what has happened in the first eight matches of a season ffs. I mean it defies common sense. How can you attribute Spurs' October league position to the DoF, but not attribute their fifth place finshes and Carling cup success. That is like me saying Keegan, despite all his earlier success is a s*** manager because he only picked up 3 points in his first eight matches here in his second spell. please tell us why the consistent trophy winning teams and champions League qualifying teams all have managers who take charge of everything to do with playing instead of babbling on like a rock-ape First off, you still haven't replied to any of my points at all. You have just gone back to your initial inane point which still defies common sense. It holds no water. I mean no club that is below M in the alphabet has finshed in the CL places since, what, 2002? That doesn't mean there is a correlation between alphabetical position, and league position. There however, might be a correlation between the massive amounts of money those clubs spend annually and their league positions. The only exception is Arsenal, who have Arsene Wenger, a manager far superior to the likes of Keegan and Jol, and the best scouting network in the entire world. Chelsea have been fluttering about between the DoF and traditional systems since Abramovich arrived there. Regardless of which system they use, Chelsea would finish near the top of the table, because of how much they can spend. -
blasphemy i tell you Do you wanna know the real reason that makes Italian football look bad? This is my waterproof evidence, and is something i have understood a long long time. Look at a PL game, then look at a Serie A game. Try to remember the quality of the program and you will understand what i meen. I speak from what i see on Canal+, they dont even send it in widescreen, its with 4:3 ratio, and the sound is horrible, the commentators is sitting in some room at home or something. Quality of production is the difference imo I've heard it all now. I mean, Roma went to Chelsea and basically played a 4-6-0 formation last night. Was horrible to watch. Roma are s*** though. 14th in the league.Teams in th vastly inferior Serie A have been having their qay with them all season. They should buy a bloody striker though.

Another thing btw, is double posting allowed on this forum? Because NE5 just had five posts in a row ffs. Couldn't he simply quote all of these things in one post? IDK, its just annoying when he responds to a post with five successive posts. -

The only chance you would have in US would be Fox Sports World. It generally shows games that are moved for tv in Englnd. However a quick check tells me it will not be on. So you could do what I have done for the last two years (hard to get digi cable at uni) and watch Setanta or Skysports through "other means". The quality is usually quite good nowadays.

In the current squad there aren't many, but I would say Oba and Cacapa might fit into this category. who are the player, owen aside, who have done anything of note in that time? It's true there aren't many, but N'Zogbia has been a massive under achiever in the last two and a half years. Strange that he's still so popular tbh. His popularity is based on what he's produced in the past and is capable of producing, in theory anyway. I like Zog but he's got an attitude problem. There are times when he looks like he can't be bothered and that's probably the reason he has been consistently over-looked by successive managers. Aye it just amazes me that Taylor has gone backwards he rightly gets hammered for it, whereas N'Zogbia has arguably gone backwards just as much, and he's still seen as the future of the club. He has the potential to be a good player, but he's done nothing to realise that potential for a good few years, & is in danger of ending up like another Ameobi, where he'll turn 27 and people will still be claiming he's due another chance. If you ask me, we need to sell N'Zogbia. He has the potential to be a good player, but he has stagnated here, and I'm not sure any thing can be done to reverse that at this club. He could use a change of scenery and we could use the funds.
