  1. Howay. It moves away from him mid-flight. Enyeama would've had that. His only weakness seems to be corners hit directly towards him, so I think he would, tbh. The ball moved a decent bit at the end, but it was still not very far at all from his starting position, or what his starting position should have been.
  2. This referee will produce a ludicrous yellow for time wasting at the end of this, but I'm sure we won;t see it before then.
  3. 8-12 million pound is about what you would expect for a right back that is not a youth and in all probability wants to leave. I never expected him to stay past the WC after Cabaye left, tbh. It is a shop window for him.
  4. I think some of these referees are scared to make strong disciplinary decisions towards the players, now that we are in knockouts. Studs to the knee is an orange in all honesty and some players are repeatedly making fouls and being petulant. No cards.
  5. I agree, I think the European teams left in the tournament have shown a bit more than the South American big guns. Argentina play too slowly and Brazil are playing long ball when it's not natural to their game. Columbia are the exception, they've been the best team from that part of the world IMO. Don't see what Belgium have shown. They were average in the group and struggled to beat USA They flattered to deceive in the groups but were impressive last night imo, created a ton of chances. From an attacking perspective, Argentina haven't shown that sort of penetrative quality yet - imo it's mostly been hopeful give and go's just outside the penalty area that lead to nothing more often than not. Probably because basically every team Argentina has played as stuck 10 men in the box, while Belgium will be aware of Argentina's threat they will try and take the game to them. This is not true, tbf. Bosnia and Nigeria both attacked them fairly aggressively and they struggled defensively in those matches. Both styles have given them trouble thus far. The only consistent has been brilliance from Messi. I think that his brilliance will be enough to get them from the final. For some reason, I still foresee Argentina-Brasil at Maracana. also, Belgium created an absurd amount of decent chances last match. The first one coming 40 seconds in. They didn't stop coming for the next 110 minutes.
  6. There is definitely an element of that. Take the January where we bought a few was purely as Pardew had us struggling so we had to buy them. Same this season, he will have given Ashley a load of excuses about needing players Of course, and who would have guessed we'd struggle after such a brilliant summer window... Revisionism. Anyone who claims that they foresaw potential relegation after finishing fifth and having little turnover is revising history also. Fwiw, I genuinely believe we would have brought Debuchy anyway and targeted the other players purchased in that window over the next summer----when they were cheaper.
  7. Definitely has the tools, with great pace and physicality. Does need to learn the game a bit, though. Seemed to be caught too far up the pich a few times in the second half for no particular reason. Just a matter of positioning. My dislike for the US is temporary, tbh. Good luck to you (and Jamaica/Haiti) in your journeys to beat CRC and Mexico in the next Copa Oro.
  8. Guy is seriously vexed! All I said was that I was pleased Belgium won. Abeg man, calm down.
  9. I still cannot watch Gyan do his rubbish azonto against Naija from 2010 ACN. I never will. Don't be vexed, man. We've both made second round and acquitted ourselves alright. Try to be happy, unlike myself.
  10. I won't talk too much because this is a player I've only seen in the European competitions, but he has always stood out as a decent talent. I'm fairly excited to see what he can accomplish here. His brother must have enjoyed something about the place because I doubt he'd move without making that call to him first.
  11. No split loyalties. The US ref should have dashed France at least one red card, so in my bitterness I withdrew all support from that country. Also, I don't like the US side tbh. I think they can play decent football, but choose to just park the bus every match against decent teams until they are scored against (when they revert to decent football) .Belgium will give Argentina more problems. Bosnia threatened them with skillful passing, and Nigeria breached them twice easily with space and movement, and Belgium has both. Argie-US will be a repeat of Iran and Switzerland matches.
  12. It wasn't. The US was incredibly negative for 110 minutes and Belgium were very, very wasteful. I'm extremely pleased Belgium won, but I still doubt them against Argentina. Im extremely pleased you all lost too big man. Belgium might actually try to play football against Argentina and after the Yank ref yesterday the choice was easy. If you feel the same, it's alright, tbh.
  13. It wasn't. The US was incredibly negative for 110 minutes and Belgium were very, very wasteful. I'm extremely pleased Belgium won, but I still doubt them against Argentina.
  14. Belgium's wastefulness in this match has been extraordinary. Nonsensical that needs 120 minutes.
  15. Belgium's right back is very slow for someone in that position.
  16. OK Man, I am too angry and sick right now. I had to leave the party after Yobo's calamity. How is it after 25 years, we still cannot defend set pieces? The useless Yankee ref was scared to get out his red card for Blaise, so Onazi has his leg broken and there is punishment. Keshi refuses to bring quality depth, so we have to stick on a clubless guy that couldn't hack it at Kilmarnock, the midfield collapses and France dominate. Also, all the known strikers from our country and Keshi has no one to bring on to get a goal for the same reason. Good chances in both halves wasted, every corner poor. Always the same. 2nd round would have been accepted before the tournament, but I am seething right now. Four years is a long time and we had serious chance to win today. Up Brazil and Algeria I suppose.
  17. I really wonder how much he paid.
  18. Good lord... Can we stop inviting Africa? Do these unproven allegations regarding Cameroon represent the culture of an entire continent or something? Bit unfair to tarnish 55+ countries with same brush is it not? If this turns out to be true I'd like to see Cameroon given a long ban, even if it does affect innocent parties. It's incidents like these that fuel negative stereotypes on Africa like above, and as an African it's frustrating to say the least Given the recent Ghana match-fixing scandal reported by Dispatches, the players going on strike over money, the Nigerian team missing training over money and now this Cameroon issue - you can understand where the stereotypes come from. That's without even mentioning this... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23412227 Or this... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AS_Adema_149%E2%80%930_SO_l'Emyrne Of course I can understand where the stereotypes come from- it still doesn't change the fact they're lazy assumptions which are unrepresentative of a developing continent. Essentially you're extrapolating the actions (some of which are unproven) of a few nations into the standard operating procedures of over a billion people and 55+ different countries, sorry I don't like that. Do you think all Africans are the same or something? Exactly! I could easily turn around and say that it's endemic in Europe (and therefore we shouldn't invite European countries to the WC by your logic), as allegations have been proven and acted upon (custodial sentences, relegation and long football bans have been handed out to the guilty parties) at the highest level. I don't, however, tar Europeans with the same brush- Italians are inherently different to British people, French people are different to Polish people and so on. This ill-informed popular belief that Africans are leading the way in corruption breathes pure arrogance in my opinion- sort your own house out first before commenting on the state of others. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-27939919 If you want to see stereotypes in motion, look how quickly people believe this story that would probably be the biggest scandal in the history of football. See how quick they believe it if you switch Cameroon and Croatia or replace Cameroon with England.
