    Joey Barton

With everyone fully fit i think the 3 man midfield should be: Geremi Barton N'Zogbia That is assuming that milner is still playing as one of the front 3
  2. 1 Newcastle 20 Spurs - most hated team on the planet
  3. I think Everton could be in that group as well with Blackburn heading the remaining teams.
  4. Why are people picking Geremi in central midfield. Personally i don't think he has particually shone there in pre season and we may as well play him at right back, where i think is his best position.
  5. No i would not be happy. I think Steinsson is useless from the little I have seen him. Martins is a key player for us and we shouldn't sell our best players to fund new players who aren't as good.
  6. sounds like a better version of stefanovic to me
  7. Rather £7 million on Riise than Baines or Shorey though! nah baines is better than riise. i still don't rate shorey atall tho. watching him last night in that friendly he was outdone by unknown korean players time and time again.
  8. van Persie would fetch more on the market than all of those players. And yes he's better than two of them. no one in their right minds would pay upwards of 17 million for him. all three are better than him. van persie has no pace, not a natural finisher and not good in the air. whats goods technique if there is nothing else with it.
  9. so better than bent, henry even luca toni cost less than that. all those players are much superior to him. 10million seems too much for him at the moment. never done much to suggest otherwise
  10. Alan Shearer. And vastly more, as well. Only Asprilla wasn't a better player, arguably Ferdinand as well I suppose. mackems.gif mackems.gif shearer?? so Shearer has the vision and creativity of Berbatov? NO So shearer has the passing ability of Berbatov? NO So Shearer has the touch and Control of Berbatov? NO So Shearer has the link-up play of Berbatov? NO Beardsley may be closer to the truth, though i still feel Berbatov is the overall better player. Link up play, yes. Berbatov is nowhere near the finisher Shearer was, he's got nowhere near the shot from distance Shearer had, he's nowhere near as good in the air. Shearer at his peak was quicker too. If you really think Berbatov is a better striker than Shearer in his prime then you are, without question, the stupidest human being I've ever encountered.Bar none. Shearer's link-up play consisted of him using his upper body strength to protect the ball and wait patiently for a runner from midfield to help. To me that dosent show he has good link up play, just means he was strong. As for your last sentence, i never claimed Berbatov was the better striker just that he is a much better player overall to Alan shearer which most neutral would agree with tbh. If you play as a striker then you are judged on how good you are as a striker. link up play is about being strong, not all about poncy flicks n fannying about with stepovers.
  11. Would prefer Berbatov to any of that lot tbh though Shearer and Ferdinand in their prime definatly beat the rest. The biased football fan at his peak
  12. when you think of the modern fullback you think of players like Dani Alves who are quality whether it comes to attacking or defending. However the amount of times he is caught upfield put the team in jeopardy. a player such as finnan is excellent defensively and will give more stability to the team. A fullback is first and foremost a member of the defence so that is what the player should be mainly assessed on.
  13. He's asked for 80k apparently and we've offerred 60k. Edmilson?
  14. Essien would get in ahead of Lmapard every time

    Favourite goal...

    I love that Ramage goal
  16. App (Gls) 162 (28) yeh but recently he has been much better
  17. That is exactly the kind of attitude that has stopped us buying players like Ashton & Andy Johnson in the past "not good enough for us, we need to buy Adriano, he is class on Pro Evo" blah blah. When SA first arrived everybody was saying lets build a sensible squad etc etc, now Mr Ashley has taken over the freaks are saying we should buy only the best. Which is exactly the road we have been trying to go down the last few years and faild. Jesus wept, let SA do his work and lets see what happens. WhereTF did I say lets sign only the best, Adriano, Kaka, Villa, Torres or whoever the **** else? If you read my full post I said he's nowt but a trier that's good at harrasing defenders for the ball and holding the ball up better than Ameobi (although I credit him to the odd special goal his scoring record playing up front is far from great) doesn't mean he'd be 10000000!!!!!!! x better than Shola. All I was saying was I really don't rate him, IMO I'd prefer signing Harewood as a squad player for the same money or just give Carroll a chance, Viduka can hold the ball up, Shola hasn't even done that bad the times he's played up front by himself in the past couple seasons in that role. Barton and Smith will add more bite yes but how many games would we finish with 10 men, not to mention the evidence of the match 2 nights ago when plenty of the England U21's showed they have "bite" and a poor Dutch team knocked them out due to us lacking in technical ability and good positive tactics, regardless of the 'pride', 'fight', '110% effort' and 'determination' that most of the English players showed. Smith is the exact match of all those 'qualities' and evidence how the game in this country is so wrong where players are coached in this mentality of determination and effort over skill and creativity like the European way. Take your point that he may just be backup and a squad player which is fair enough but I can't see him leaving the ManUre bench to sit on ours.... he would be a good squad player due to his versatility - but I'd be bitterly disappointed if he was to replace Owen/Martins. Marlon Harewood is a waste of space who is more suited to league 1. He had one good season and last year was a true representation of his complete lack of ability. 5 million for him would be unbelievably bad. Premier league needs players like Smith and we want a team not a group of individuals who are playing for themselves. smith is a team player and would aid us in creating the close knit unit that we need right now.
  18. All 100% true and everything said in there sums it up!
  19. Not true imho. He plays in a position that England are already well off and theres also about 8 defenders that are currently ahead of him in the pecking order. Young, NRC, Huddlestone and onyohu are all more likey to get call ups imo. Huddlestone??? he has so many players ahead of him and even if it is gerrarg/lampard and a holding player huddlestone would be nowhere on that list either
  20. if you think this about taylor then what are your thought about edgar, ramage and huntington All s****, get rid. Lets sign Terry and Rio.
