I was told by someone who worked under Rafa (not inner circle but on the football side) that he’d turned Juve down. Caulkin is suggesting that Rafa knew he would be leaving for a while. Good luck Rafa, I think we all knew what was going on. One thing his statement may do is unsettle the existing players and put transfer targets off. We need Ashley out asap, no mark manager and unambitious/ stepping stone players here we come. What a time ?

Stupid yes but not out of character. Keegan, shearer and now Rafa binned off because they wanted to do things their way. The difference being that Ashley wasn’t looking to sell then.

The only thing that would make any sense in all this would be if Ashley believes the takeover will happen and the new owners don’t fancy Rafa. There’s no doubt Rafa wanted to stay and Ashley pulled the rug from under his feet. Ashley is unpredictable but getting rid of Rafa the way he has would be beyond stupid. The contract offer Rafa had has been there for months, they’ve both been there before and a compromise agreed. Something must have changed and if it was down to an email Ashley didn’t like then god help us all.

Referee should have took control there. It was clearly the correct decision and she should have given them a warning and then starting booking them. This is the World Cup not an U7’s tournament ffs

He’s not going to China ffs; he’s told people in the club that he had the chance to go to Juve and turned it down. If the takeover doesn’t go through he knows what Ashley is prepared to give him and he’ll have to decide if that’s good enough for him to stay. I’ve no doubt he wants to stay. I really don’t think we’ll hear much until the end of the month. IMO if the takeover doesn’t happen and Rafa feels Ashley has been moving the goal posts then there’s every chance he’ll walk.

Been reliably informed that he turned Juve down and that the current contract offer is £50M funds for this season and £50M the season after. The take over has put everything on hold but it would seem his preferred option is to stay.

Strictly speaking you can’t leave the field of play without the referee’s permission so keepers planning on standing behind the goal line should really ask if this is ok. Keepers are going to have to retrain; they’re all trained to move forward as the kick is taken and then dive.
