  1. He's a good player; just not for us. Good luck, hope he stays fit.
  2. Hayden's more important for his pressing and breaking up of play than hurting the opposition. That's a massively important part of a midfielder's game, you need at least one player with a bit of bite in there. I agree; from what I've seen Merino looks like he can do this. He was very good defensively today; he won most heading duels, broke play up and was very disciplined. I think part of the problem here is that we're too used to seeing one dimensional players in our team. We've been crying out for someone like him for years.
  3. I'd have sent him packing based on what we got last year and I still think Murphy would be a better option but he's been a different player to last season. Deserves his place.
  4. Shelvey has become a lot more mobile, looks fitter and more focused than before. He's an idiot no doubt and he could force Merino to be less effective but it has to be worth a go. Hayden is reliable but predictable and isn't going to hurt the opposition. Setting up against Merino and Shelvey is potentially very hard to do.
  5. We can't be advocating Hayden ahead of Shelvey. Merino and Shelvey could be very very good. Merino is a defensive midfielder but is so good at it that you'd think otherwise. If we can get with the option of freeing up Shelvey or creating something on his own then we become so much more difficult to set up against. He has to be viewed as an upgrade on Hayden and a different planet to Colback. His defensive play was outstanding today.
  6. He hasn't got Shelvey's vision; he's a huge upgrade on Hayden. If Rafa can get him and Shelvey working together we'll create teams problems. Merino and Cabaye in his pomp would have been a pair.
  7. Did well today, not match fit but much better than Mitro and Gayle for that matter. Much needed outlet.
  8. Good player this lad I've have him alongside Shelvey to see how they go.
  9. Sky reporting it, if he came we couldn't have Kennedy.
  10. Absolutely, Hatem's wasn't bad mind.
  11. If his plan was to throw the chance of a point and make a public display of how poor his options from the bench are then I'd probably accept that. Diame should never set foot on the pitch for us again. His movement makes Shola look like an Olympic sprinter in comparison.
  12. I'd love someone to get his reasoning for bringing Diame on. Ever.
  13. I said before the season started that on paper we had a good opening set of fixtures and we needed to spend proper money to do our best to pick up early points. After the next 3 games or so we have some really hard looking games, if we go into them with say 4 or less points on the board we will be in the bottom 3 and will remain there or thereabouts all season. I can hardly wait. It's only 2 games but all the signs are there.
  14. Didn't expect anything from today but I expected Huddersfield to play better than they have. We should be getting something from this. Very disappointing.
  15. If you dip it over the wall with any amount of pace and/or the keeper has next to no chance, he's completely blind to the ball's path. Kicking it straight at the keeper gives them more chance to react, Shirley? You would still be aiming to the side of the keeper. Getting the ball over the wall and under the bar from 20 yards or less with any pace is unbelievably difficult

That's one way to make sure you don't for a club again. knacker, especially if he's binning them off for Burnley.
