Joselu is functional but if we had a proper centre forward we'd be threat to most teams with the organisation we have. Add a good keeper and proper left back and we'd be half decent. Can't see Soton being that bad in the 2nd half; they have to change their approach.

JDT missed a sitter on his debut and never really recovered; he'd showed in preseason he could play. The injury to Shearer and the loss of Sir Les was pretty devasting and placed far too much pressure on JDT. We really were unlucky the way it all happened. Having said that, agreeing to sell Sir Les was a massive mistake in the first place.

I've been told a good few times that when he worked under Fat Sam that Sam relied heavily on him. Hope he gets the support needed as I've also heard nothing but good things.

Klopp didn't react to what we were doing. It was pretty clear early on that we were trying to direct their forward play through Gomez, we allowed him to be the out ball to their most forward player several times. His crossing was generally very poor. We also allowed Henderson time on the ball just inside their own half as he almost always plays a short safe pass and rarely carries the ball forward. Klopp did nothing to try and shake this up or instruct his players to avoid playing the same balls. Liverpool only really looked dangerous when we lost possession and we were out of shape. I'd love to see a map of Liverpool's forward play which excludes counter attacks. I'd be fairly confident that their game plan didn't include Gomez becoming a focal point of attacking options.

RIP, the club had some great times under him. Like others I'll also remember the not so good things he did to in his own interests. His final years in charge were questionable to say the least, no doubt he got done like a kipper over the sale to Ashley while he was in hospital.
