  1. Woody was by far the best defender I have seen in my time watching NUFC. I'm disappointed we missed out on a player we wanted as that is not good news; but I don't think he is quite the player he was & he will miss games through injury. All in all it may not be such a bad thing. Hope we don't waste the transfer funds on Chimbonda. Beye has all the qualities needed to be a quality signing & would be better than Chimbonda imo.
  2. Could be, but that's what the craic was. KK also seemed resigned to the fact that he lost out
  3. A smoggie on another site reckons Woody is believed to be at WHL having his medical.

    Chimbonda

hope it's rubbish - money more important than trophies ffs
  5. I voted for Beardo. Gazza had it all & blew it, Beardsley made the most of the very considerable talent he had. Gazza could have been a World Superstar but for that tackle & the fact that he is clearly crackers.
  6. Quite simply Woodgate is the best defender I have ever seen in a Toon shirt. Hope he comes & stays fit. That's the gamble.
  7. We tried to play football today but couldn't put the players out to do it. Emre needs a right kicking for getting sent off against Stoke. Enrique at one point gave Given a blasting when he was about to hoof it up field. We need ball playing midfield players.

    Fave KK memory?

The day he signed as a player I was in Rimini (16 yr old) & I wouldn't believe my Mackem supporting mate's dad that we'd signed him. First game QPR, queuing in the car park outside the old stand, sun shining, can of beer in hand. Standing in the old stand paddock nearest the Gallowgate & that goal. It was the first magical moment of many more to come. We had been rubbish for a number of years prior to that, were a club going nowhere & were light years away from being any kind of big club. It was THE catalyst to all that followed. Simply fantastic, the best by far for me.
  9. Some useless twat on Talksport (Mike Parry that's you) defeated his own argument about us not being a big club by slagging off the 20,000 fans who turned up for Owen's presentation to the media. He then compounded it by not recognising the shite he was spouting out. Successful we not be; Big we surely must be. The rest of the country wants us to fail it seems as after the last time we got too big for our boots. Yeah right Fuck Off. Truth is most people like Keegan & would love us to play similar football to the last time.
  10. I was 9 in 1974, Supermac was King, Keegan was the enemy & scored two.

    Kevin Keegan

Get in. Just hope he brings Shearer & not Coleman who has just resigned in Spain.
  12. Clearly, they aren't. Good players perform.
  13. He's a coach, clearly shite as a manager. That said what the fuck was Sam doing allowing him to run the touchline during the first half of matches?
  14. Pain before pleasure. Sam had to go; today was just an exageration of the mess he's got us in. Consider the rubbish tactics & performances, the undeserved points against Wigan, Fulham, Brum, Derby & be thankful he left us above the drop zone. Mr Ashley, Mr Mort you have a huge responsibility in picking the new man, Redknapp wasn't right, nor Hughes (we shouldn't have lost there & Coventry stuck 4 passed them) & nor is Shearer. Hiddink, Van Gaal or Houllier for me; Mourinho I can live without.
  15. I think that display shows what Sam had done to the team & that Pearson knows nowt. Decisions didn't go our way but I have to say again in the scheme of things this may be a blessing. Ashley no knows for certain what a big club is, where we are & what needs to be done.
  16. Surely by that linesman's standard Ferdinand was offside?
  17. Why are people getting worked up over this result? In even a small scheme of things it doesn't really matter. All I will really say is how on earth was Owen ruled offside - but I guess we know the answer to that. Kalou yards offside Owen level........yawn.
  18. I can't believe that Mort/ Ashley would be so niaive to have sacked Sam without thinking Harry was in the bag. Big embarrassments to them both. This is a shambles but not a disaster. Harry wouldn't have been my 1st choice.
  19. Too early for Shearer far too early. If I were Ashley/ Mort I would n't even consider appointing him. Too many ties to the old regime at the moment. Al needs to come out & clearly say if he would like the job. Staying silent is no help to the fans or the club but it does boost his sizeable ego. I get the feeling that in Al's world he comes a long way first ahead of the club & the fans but he doesn't half know how to play the sheet metal worker's son from Gosforth line.
  20. Any anger should be directed against Mort. Ashley may have given a shopping list; Mort didn't get the goods. Ashley clearly had a more pressing need to be in HK & it is his other interests that give him the cash to indulge in NUFC.
  21. Ashley will be pleased he's in HK & not in with the crowd at OT today. Wednesday should be interesting if this mess isn't resolved by then.
  22. Sam must be pissing himself this morning; probably already spoken with Harry & will share a glass of wine with him tonight/ tomorrow. Mort needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat now. Ashley must be livid.
  23. Shambles - new regime, same mistakes Piss up/ Brewery springs to mind

    Jose Mourinho

Mourinho will have bigger clubs falling over themselves for his services. We are not in his sights. He achieved wonderful results at Porto & Chelsea but you could also say that his style at Porto was cynical verging on cheating & at Chelsea he became very negative. He'd be a gamble same as everyone else.
  25. It is far too early for Shearer. He was playing golf with Fat Fred when he heard of BS's sacking. Why on earth would Ashley want to bring Shearer in when he is still too close to Fat Fred & a lot of the players yet knows nothng of Ashley & his mob? Give it 5 years & better still let Shearer learn his managerial ropes at a smaller club.
