  1. I think we can all agree that was never offside and one of the worst VAR decisions ever.
  2. It’s from when the ball was played, he couldn’t have been offside when the ball was played in the box so are they saying he was offside when the keeper fumbled the ball? That can’t be right either. I’m still calling bull shit. It’s definitely a different phase though?
  3. The graphics boys on VAR have got a job on altering those pictures. Do we get to see them?
  4. That 1974 cup final was worse than I remembered.
  5. Had an interesting conversation with a bloke tonight at a family do. He doesn’t like football but is part of the funny handshake brigade and networks. Anyway he reckons Saudia will be running routes from Ncle and that they’re putting 400M into the club. I can’t back any of what he said up, it just came up in general conversation when I asked if he followed the football.

Surely fan pressure to cancel a friendly is a piece of piss compared to stopping a takeover- let’s see how they get on. Can’t wait for the match thread.
  7. I’m firmly of the opinion that the PL were getting pressure to reject the takeover but were reluctant to make an official decision. That would allow PIF to challenge and the PL would have to argue what part of the O&D test had failed. At one point the PL wanted individuals to take the test knowing that would never happen. They hoped procrastinating would make PIF walk away again. The PL didn’t follow their own rules and that was their downfall. At the time everyone seemed to be of the opinion that Legal Counsel must have told the PL that the game was up, tell RSA to settle with BEIN and they could then approve the takeover and get themselves out of a hole. As said, the judge presiding over the CAT case, almost laughed at some of rabbit holes the PL lawyers were trying to lead him down. As hard as it may seem, the correct decision was made albeit in favour of a barbaric regime. But, the PL said early on that separation between PIF and the State wasn’t actually an issue. We should be the last of the State takeovers but I’m not aware of any tightening of the rules so far?
  8. From memory the PL backed themselves into a corner. They’d been sharing info, the Big 6 had been sticking their oar in and the CAT outcome paved the way for a January reveal that the PL didn’t want to happen. The actual approval came very quickly in the. Fans of other clubs forget that the govt petition wasn’t about getting approval, it was about transparency and steadfast refusal of the PL to make a decision. If the PL had gone about preventing the takeover in a transparent way and within their own rules then it wouldn’t have gone through. The takeover had all but been approved months earlier until all and sundry got involved. I’m no fan of RSA but the PL fucked up and everyone tried to do us over.

Don’t know what it’s like now but there used to be 1 bus an hour that passed through Washington to Sunderland, the 638, meanwhile there’d be 1 every 15 minutes to Heworth Metro and more routes and X buses to Eldon Sq. Before that there’d be regular buses to Worswick St (191, 192 spring to mind). Washington had far more links to Newcastle than it ever did to Sunderland. As said it was just farmland east of say Barmston up past where Nissan is now. Strangely, Sunderland Airport was Washington side of the A19 and they built a training hall with a few pitches opposite the bus depot at Concord.
  10. No idea where 7 minutes came from. The ref was expecting us to do everything at a 100 miles an hour after we scored. Willock got the hurry up leaving the pitch despite having jogged a bit already, Pope got booked very harshly imo.

We must have had some serious shit on Peter Withe for him to sign for us and pair him up with a bloke clocking off from the pit. They were a canny double. Anyway, Peter Withe, wtf was he thinking, must have been off his tits.
  12. Haha, Firmino just copied Bruno
  13. Do you not get Sky Sports News abroad? Bruno had done the keeper and then chipped the bar.
  14. Anyone watching Dortmund? Who is the no 25 “playing” right back? He’s built like the big fat lad who is always last to be picked and has won a competition place.
  15. Howe has got a fantastic tune out of these players. January will be very interesting, if we do buy we need to make sure the rhythm and style isn’t interrupted. Longstaff is probably most at risk for an upgrade - though his work rate has been pretty impressive lately. Get it right and top 6 is a real possibility.
  16. Souness can’t see that Miggy meant that. Might have got lucky but Miggy definitely saw the challenge and tried something different.
