  1. I think its just that he hasnt really had much of a chance to let people see what he can do. Sibierski was coming up to the end of his career and his best had been and gone so people had seen enough of him to be able to make a reasoned judgement. Guthrie is only just starting out so deserves the opportunity to be judged on his performances in a black and white shirt alone. Playing in that Bolton team last year can be no basis for judgement of his ability
  2. True, but it could go either way. Isnt a single transfer in the history of the game that is/was guaranteed to be a success
  3. Couldnt quite bring yourself to admit that Dave was 100% right could you Well, it´s a quote from somebody whose trustworthiness I don´t know (Mallorca´s chairman). You can´t know 100% either whether a club bid 8 million for him in January. I remember the quote as saying they had asked for 8 million from Portsmouth, not it being an offer. I apologised for being wrong and coming on a bit strong.. What more do you want? Nowt mate. Just yanking your chain. There has been a fair bit of to-ing and fro-ing over this whole thread and it just made me smile that it still couldnt be brought to an ultimate conclusion No offence meant
  4. I´ve checked and it appears you may be right. Apologies Dave. Couldnt quite bring yourself to admit that Dave was 100% right could you
  5. Oh no Mick.... you know exactly what is going to happen the first time he comes up against us
  6. I loved the wave to his fans as he walked off the pitch
  7. Arsenal reject went to a lower league club and came here for less than £2 million. http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/4953/andycoleeg1.th.jpg Exactly the type of signing we need to be looking for. We have no chance of getting players that played at Euro 2008 (unless they were s****) and young british players who are already being talked about in the press (like that lad from Cardiff that Arsenal signed). Somehow we have to get lucky and unearth a couple of gems (Rob Lee is another of this type) then we can push on and in a couple of season become an attractive propostion for the better known talent Geez, and they call us, the ones calling for a bit of ambition, doom mongers. After reading that I think we've all got it the wrong way around.. The people in the positive mood camp are not positive at all, they are mentally prepared for mediocrity.. On a more serious note, we are still a very attractive Premiership club and many players would jump at the chance to join us, no matter how much Shitteam will have you believe otherwise. It's just a matter of the people in charge of the club showing the required level of ambition in attracting new players, i.e. ones that will allow us to move forward.. How were Andy Cole and Rob Lee mediocre ? I didn't say that, did I? I refered to your 'we have to get lucky and unearth a few gems' mentality.. Err, we are not Hull City you know, we are Newcastle United. We have a big name, a good reputation and a billionaire owner, hence I think we can afford to set our sights a little bit higher than attracting relative nobodies for pennies in the hope that they turn out to be the next Rob Lee or Andy Cole. Capiche? Capiche ?? I am leaving this conversation now.

  9. How on earth that Platini have handed over a "confidential" document
  10. well so far he isnt due in court on GBH charges so its an improvement. Good luck to the lad
  11. Just seen on Sky there that the Sunday papers somehow have Gus Poyet as being in the frame for Man Utd number 2 job
  12. How you pacify the people on this board heaven only knows

  14. Good shout.. Doesn't seem physical enough from what i saw of him for chelsea That must be why the nicknamed him the canibal in the German league, which is known for being very physical.. Dont canibals just eat people ?
  15. Sadly i wouldnt see Park as the type of player that could come into a troubled club like our and be a major force in turning us around. Neither the ability nor the personality. Decent squad player for Man U but is never going to be a first choice for them
  16. Much better off with personalities like Barton and Smith.. I didnt say I wanted them either. Its because of the likes of Barton and Smith that hammers home the importance of not bringing in those types of people... and Anelka and Diouf are 2 furtehr examples. Dont want any of them here
  17. Personally I wouldnt want personalities like Diouf and Anelka at the club.
  18. My cynicism might suggest his agent is trying to get another club to bite. I cant see Berbatov fitting into Man U's side
  19. I apologise if its mentioned earlier but has the rest of world football been outraged at his comments or just the english as it was liked to the Ronaldo case ?
  20. I agree and I'd like to see us in for him especially if it's a battle between Villa and Spurs. Unfortunately I think he's got ideas above our station now, and will probably see those two as better bets. Yeah. London bound I think
  21. Its unrealistic and highly unlikely but David Bentley would send out all the right signals for me
  22. Doesn't count, unfortunately. See the lack of fuss when Taylor re-signed for proof of that. Fair enough... shall think again
  23. You could have put money on it couldnt you... in saying that its the fucking daily mail... cane see it now in the offices "hmmm. nothing on Arshavin for a few days... I know... Tottenham are signing players".....
