Yeah it is an assumption, but surely if a player goes and plays first team football in a competitive league then it'll will do him good rather than playing youth/reserve team football? I'd be very surprised if the Preston loan spell didn't do him any good, even if the only thing he did realise was that he perhaps wasn't as good as he thought he was and it helped him knuckle down. How many people actually saw him play at PNE, and how many just look at his goal record there and state "he was crap?"
-
Would be shocked no matter who we sign if Nolan doesn't start first game of next season if he's available.
-
A few teams don't bother with reserve teams any more. Don't think Spurs or Wolves (amongst others) bother with it any more as the Reserve Team league format is so poor. They just host 'friendly' games with other sides/academies instead. Seems an odd decision if true, unless players will either be young enough for the academy, loaned out or involved in the first team. Will wait for Obi to confirm as he seems most clued up with this side of things.

Wasn't he just a Shearer fan? Newcastle fan because of Shearer perhaps - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article365647.ece

Berbatov is a Newcastle fan to be fair so at least there is logic behind this crazy rumour. Would absolutely love him at St James', but in all honesty there is a chance he's past his best. For £7.5m though I'd probably be willing to give it a shot.
-
Amazing, I've been exactly the same
-
To be fair he's on a contract which is too big for a club of our size (now anyway) so it made sense that we'd offer him reduced terms even if his performances have improved. Sadly the same is likely to happen with Colocinni which I'm not looking forward to. If he goes he goes, I don't think he's irreplaceable. Was very solid for us this season and would hope he does stay but won't be losing any sleep over it.
-
Yeah is shit hot on FM, that's about as much as anyone knows.
-
If he goes he goes, would love him to stay but if he doesn't, as always, football moves on.
-
First one he was definitely onside, Simpson just got it horrendously wrong. Bizarrely the second one was offside for the flick-on, before he cut inside and smashed it. Pretty gutted about today, 9th to 12th in a blink of an eye (yes feck you Smith) but really, in our comeback season should be ecstatic with our finish. And however bad we feel, think how bad Arsenal felt after being 4 up.
-
Hate means I irrationally blame Smith for all of this.

Graham Hunter writes absolute tripe 99% of the time so wouldn't worry about it.
-
My Brighton mate had his fingers crossed he wouldn't get a game or would come on and be crap as he's absolutely desperate for him to go back. Very highly rated at the South coast club. Reckon he's got a chance if he gets over his leg break and stays clear of injury.
-
Not surprised by the reaction to be fair, it's amazing how much his stock has fallen since he left Chelsea. Obviously I think he's better than people on here but considering there's not a deluge of quality LB's available on the market would be surprised if he isn't one we consider.

If (god forbid) Enrique does leave, if we could get Bridge in on relatively cheap wages as unlikely as it is, I wouldn't think that'd be a bad signing at all. Dodgy start at West Ham but since then he's been one of their better performers. Would still prefer we kept Jose mind.

There was a bit of talk around Watford in regards to Danny Graham moving. My boss has decent connections at the club and from what he says he's valued around £2.5-3m and we're the highest profile club interested. Not certain of all the others interested other than QPR. Not trying to be ITK, but that's what he said anyway.
-
Colo's plan to make one awful mistake near the end of the season so other teams are put off trying to sign him has worked! Next week expect to see Enrique pick up the ball is his penalty area whilst Tiote will begin tackling his own teammates (and still getting booked for it).
-
If he was a horse he'd have been shot long ago.

I know it's end of season and everything, but I swear we're getting worse. It's just 'hooof' a lot of the time as we're fairly clueless and the majority of attacks just keep coming down the left. Jonas was quieter than usual, but that's because Brum were actually clever and doubled up on him. If I supported any other team in the PL playing Newcastle would be a game I'd dread just because we seem to be pretty good at creating awful football matches. I know we've had some great games this year (Arsenal, Liverpool at home, Villa and Sunderland at home) but since Carroll left we haven't half served up some dross. And Nolan. Fuck me, he drives me mental. I've never seen such an immobile central midfielder. The sponsors should be forced to explain that baffling decision. Only the strikers deserved it less.

Fair play to this

Eh? That's a fake account. Aye, but the plot thickens with this text, 'apparently' from old Smudger - http://yfrog.com/h7aabigj
-
His ex has apparently 'hacked' his Twitter account - http://twitter.com/#!/AlanSmithy17 Such diamond things such as her claiming he stated: "I would love to go back to Leeds and play at Elland Rd and hear them chant my name again, but Leeds can't afford my wages" She also says: "He doesn't care about football he doesn't care about anything apart from his ££" No shocks there then.
-
Not a fan, doesn't look good on a 'larger' player (aka Nolan) as the wide stripes just look even wider. Have to hate the bloody sponsor 'patch' as well. Bit underwhelming to be honest.
