I reckon if we keep it together we can maybe get a draw out of this. Hopefully they will be rattled by the tottenham defeat but just as likely they are going to come at us like wolves because of that. Losing Taylor and Bassong is a huge huge blow for us, but thankfully one of the games they will miss is one we didn't expect to win anyway... That being said, lets attack! -------Harper-------- Beye/Cacapa Coloccini R.Taylor/Beye Enrique Butt Gutierrez Duff Lovenkrands Owen Martins It's actually quite hard to decide. I want to see Gutierrez play through the middle more but I'm not happy with R/Taylor at right back. Cacapa might provide a bit more strength with regards to Drogba but I think it is best to try and deal with his pace. I know it looks like quite a shit line-up but Owen will provide a bit of finishing ability should we get the chance and, seeing as it's chelsea, we won't get many chances. Come on boys!
-
Ryan Taylor is a right back anyway, so put him in his fecking proper position because he is pretty shite in right mid for us.
-
We can still do it. I was on the edge of my seat for nearly all the arsenal game and I didn't really expect to get anything from it... don't even know how I'll watch the last few games, especially if it's down to the wire. Anyway, enough of the relegation talk boys!

Have to say, it was a very good effort by the lads. I really hope that penalty won't be important, probably will. Why the right foot? Anyway, again Enrique was great, a little slip up with the missed clearance. Steven Taylor played a blinder, the passion he played with might be a major factor in our survival. Agreed with the person who says Martins and Lovenkrands should be our strikers is right, but we need to keep the ball on the floor. Stick Gutierrez and Duff on the wings to provide. -
What a strange comment.
-
Knock the ball down the wings, make Martins chase and hope he does something magical. He's due. I remember the 2-2 game we had with Man U and the stunner from Milner, that was a happy happy day. Needless to say, it almost certainly won't happen this time.

The most annoying thing is that Martins is a player that can really make things happen but with Shola beside him he won't get a chance. We NEED to play Viduka up with Martins. I wish we kept N'zogbia, him on the left with Jonas on the right might have created some problems through pace, but we have fuck all now. -
I want to know if he really said 'a repeat would be rather nice'. Anyway, over the moon he's returning, he's gonna screw the bolton defence into the ground! Shame I'm working and won't see it... Come on lads!

Watched what I could of the the game. The main things I picked up, Steven Taylor seemed incredibly eager to get the ball towards the other teams go and made some smashing surges forward. Needed a bit more help in doing this though. I personally love his attitude and although he may make some mistakes he is still a quality player. Obafemi Martins again showed that he is someone that can make things happen. If he was on from the start it may have been a different result. Bassong was great. Jonas annoys me because he was very exciting when he came but he really needs to work on the final ball and become a bit more consistent. Ryan Taylor is looking good, has a cracking delivery! I do like to think we have somewhat stopped the rot but it's maybe too early to say. However, not at all disappointed with a point. Now we can build on it. -
I stopped reading after the bit in bold. Because again, HTT has said something which is just wrong, wrong, wrong. So how would it be the end of the world? It... it just would. If we went down it would be a LONG LONG time before we could even contemplate being in the top half of the table again, that's if we ever make it back out...

Would it be ok if we just played dutty custard a bit more?

God can't we just buy someone we know is going to be even remotely good. Bring in David Bentley, he's not doing much. -

Beye is quality, in all meanings of the word. Legend.

I like Milner, he was one of my favourites. Consistent, scored a few, tried hard and was always, and still is, gracious towrds the club. He may have lacked quality in some aspects but there's no reason to bollock him for it.

Yeah, there was a potential kit clash. All grey against black and white. Would probably be pretty confusing on the telly. -

Says that Keegan has confirmed he is still manager. There is hope! -
God damnit, I like Milner. Never understood the criticism, always one of our most consistent performers, if not the ONLY one. The money better be well spent.
-
Actually good point. Man, football buisness just goes over my head, it amazes me how they make any money at all with the amount they pump in. How much did a season ticket cost this year out of interest?
-
So, according to th stats in the original posts article, using my microsoft calculator it would mean he would cost a total of £21,840,000 over the three years. The wage increase, 40k p/w, would come to £6,240,000 over the three years. God knows what he has cost since he has been here (wages, transfer fee, signing on fee, bonuses, training, medical expenses). It's total insanity that we are paying that much. My head says 'screw him, if he thinks he is worth that he can get to f***' but sadly it's becoming pretty normal.

James Milner keen to negotiate better Newcastle deal (Other Contracts too)
TaylorJ_01 replied to Stu's topic in Football
It's not that Milner deserves more it's the likes of Smith, etc. deserve less. I totally agree. Although once you pay someone like Smith that kind of wage better players will demand higher and it will go on and on... It's insane that young players are earning this. Hell, I earn £50 a week! I'm at uni though, but still. -
I think of Bassong as a cat. Cut a cat and it will bleed, put it in a microwave it will probably die, but give it a jacket and it won't know what to do with it!
