The difference is 14 years of the media and politicians stoking division, never has there been such a divide between people, somehow everything is now binary and there's no nuance to beliefs. If this were to happen now it would probably cause the same uproar because the slightest change is seen by an attack and that goes both ways, everyone is so highly strung these days. People are split down the middle about this, but the truth is it was a misguided position and has just caused more anger and division over what, a ridiculously priced shirt that most of us can't afford anyway.
  8. Regardless of whether its a fresh injury or unforseen, there was a feeling of inevitability on this one. I was sure he would end up under the knife at the end of the season and was playing through something, but all that's from nothing but a gut feeling. Lascelles will do a job in the mean time, hopefully summer brings some fresh legs in this area.
  9. Postecoglu is getting relegated then

    Alexander Isak

A better RW in the summer and Tonali back in the team and he'll be an absolute beast next season if he can keep the injuries at bay.
  11. Nice 2 week break, warm weather training, some more players back, some better rested and a semi-reset. We've still got a lot to play for in the league and he'll have us coming back fighting for it. Actually think we'll see a completely different NUFC next season, more akin to last season. So many mitigating circumstances can't just be passed off, could Howe have done better this season? Probably, but he doesn't deserve the sack for failing to swim after having both arms and legs removed.
  12. Can hardly blame Isak for not being more accurate having to take a shot by putting his boot over a half volley Been pretty unlucky with 2 deflected goals but not sure what anyone was expecting against Man City, most of you were predicting 4 or 5 - 0 in the prematch thread, then it's all fume and bluster when we're 2-0 down in the first half?
  13. Perfect tackle, cleanly takes the ball, of course it's a yellow
  14. The same people moaning about a change in formation are the same one moaning about us not changing it up with our poor defensive record. People crying all over twitter, Howe on a hiding to nothing no matter what he does.
  15. Ok he's injured, I think it was obvious he's not 100% and carrying something, but that doesn't explain why he's getting 90+ minutes when others around him are subbed off, that's the only head scratcher for me.

    Anthony Gordon

I don't get why everyone is laying into the physio for a standard ROM test, the only thing you could possibly say is that he was probably a bit aggressive with his test which is why Gordon flinched so hard.
  17. It'll be the sponsorships that close the gap, their new rules around FMV won't stand up in court, individual challenges on a case by case basis is what will bring this tumbling down.
  18. It's too early to be calling for Howe's head, there are a lot of mitigating circumstances that have led us to this point. I'm not going to rehash the injuries, fatigue, confidence thing, it's been done to death though it has played its part. But I think at this point you have to look at mistakes made by Howe and the players, it's an horrific gumbo of issues, uncontrollable, external but also controllable and internal. Maybe an international break and warm weather training can bring us a new lease of life for the run in. Perhaps it will take a summer of renovation to reinvigorate us. Either we finish strong and clinch a European slot or we wipe the slate clean and have an easier season to concentrate on the league, I'm OK with either BUT we have to see major improvements next season either way.
  19. I've backed this team through some rough displays, even held on to the fact that exhaustion can and does take a long time to shake off. But there is zero excuses for what we've witnessed tonight, totally unacceptable levels of ineptitude across the pitch.
  20. I'm done for the night, insipid, uninspiring and discombobulated, we deserved this on tonight's display.
  21. Livramento is trying to carry this game on his own. Don't know how he's still walking with the amount of fouls he's received today.
  22. We look more dangerous here we should nick this
