Just been in Grand Old Team to see what their supporters are saying about the game next week.... my days, they really don't like us do they? First clue, thread title "The Horse Punchers....." 2025 and still calling us Horse Punchers, what in the Mackemland is that? It's obvious they're desperate to be the ones that stop us from earning CL football next season but the forum is split on the result, most are saying it'll be a beach performance and a simple win for us, but plenty thinking a draw or a win for them. Now I just want to beat them to shut their supporters up!

They already have one against us, that 2022 game when they beat us 1-0 with 10 men, still haunts me to this day.

Callum Wilson: offered 'incentive-based' contract extension (Ornstein)
Mattoon replied to Strawberry's topic in Football
If Wilson was a pet we'd be done for animal cruelty for not having him put down. -
Would love a full team for this, middle 3 of Joelinton/Bruno/Tonali and a front 3 of Barnes/Isak/Murphy. Everton will try and make it tough on us with 2 banks of 5 defending and Pickford loves to up his game against us, so this will be a tough game to win, but I cannot see us losing it. Nervy end to the season but we have enough quality even without Joelinton and Isak to win comfortably if we play like we can.

I echo the statements, I don't think it's any kind of knee jerk, I think it's just the attitude shown today has brought a lot of what has been bubbling under, up to the surface. There's no denying his talent, we've seen it last season, however bar a patch of 9 games mid-season he's not been great at all this season. He looks half-hearted at times, sloppy and off the pace and his diving has become much worse, compounded by his petulant rolling around on the floor when the whistle doesn't go and the ball is still live, get up!! One of our best players by far when in form, he needs to work hard to get back to where he was and he needs to bring the arrogance and petulance down a peg and realise that right now Barnes is the better option.

It was all about Arsenal before and during the match too, sly 6 privileges. I've taken to turning it on 1 or 2 minutes before the game and turning it off as soon as the final whistle blows, especially after a loss, no one needs that extra blood pressure.

Frustrating game this, another day and we'd won the game in the first half, been a poor 2nd half and nothing has really dropped for us today.

Today we go 2nd

City are pony

Offside, got to be

Honestly, if we finish 7th from the position we're currently in then we don't deserve any kind of European football next season.
-
They've got Southampton last game of the season, there's nothing for them to worry about and we don't need to count on them not showing up, we'll win.
-
This is where I am right now, after tonight's results and the fact a win puts us 2nd, we will be well up for the battle tomorrow and I don't think Arsenal will, their only motivation now is not to get beat 4 times on one season by us.

As great as it would have been to book our top 5 position last night, Villa and Chelsea were never gonna lose to relegation fodder. We will beat Arsenal tomorrow and be responsible for our own fate, a couple of extra days of hope was all that was achieved yesterday, let them fight it out for 4th/5th.

There's levels and they're far beyond what we get away with and a multitude of their players do it, not just the two.

Honestly I'm all for the Sky six getting ripped apart by some new names but I just can't bring myself to back Villa to be one of them for a multitude of reasons, most recently from their play acting when we played them "most fouled side in the league" nah they just dive around a lot and get their own sly little digs in they get away with. Anyone but them please 🙏🏻

United beat them 2-0 last week
-
Fwiw I'm from the North West also and anyone referring to "United" is instantly retorted to with "Which United?". I have never and will never refer to ManU as united, they are A United but not The United just because they're the media darlings.

If Eddie and his team thought for one second that playing Isak through an injury was even a remote risk to his long term fitness he'd be nowhere near a pitch. Injured Isak still offers goals and amazing link up play, sure he can't take a man on or press as much as usual and he's struggling to create anything for himself but his ability to create for others and get into positions means he's still a better choice than Wilson and Osula.

Been checking the Arsenal forums to see how they're feeling, not entirely confident tbh. One thing that stands out across all the forums is a deep seated hatred for us and some misplaced feelings of injustice. Win and they cement 2nd place, but looks like they aren't confident with their current injury woes, up front being the major issue.

Can't see them getting past Sheffield, but if they do they'll spend next season getting pumped more times than their own sisters

Been saying this for a week, I'm more bothered about the season closer vs the scouse mackems than I am of this game, they're our kryptonite
