Assumed that they're normally a wing back team given how they started on Saturday.

I wonder how much of a say Cooper is having in some of these transfers, it seems like such a scatter gun approach. I can't see them playing 2 up top and then having Lingard & Johnson in the side as well, so that makes one of Dennis & Awoniyi an expensive bench warmer.
-
Nah fuck that, just play how we do against them, if we’re not good enough then let that be the case but don’t change who we are to try and get beat 1-0 instead of 3-0.

Didn’t think Trippier was that good with the ball, a few times he gave it away but it’s everything he brings that’s makes him so good. Willock, Joelinton, Burn, Schar, Bruno & Targett were outstanding.

Chelsea have probably got 20 youth players they can flog to Feyenoord for £10m with a £15m buy back clause whilst our youth players are wondering if they'll end up being good enough for Blyth or Ashington when they don't make the grade here.

I think our financial situation will allow us to be active in every window, January of this year will be an outlier though given our need to get bodies in. If there's a player available in January who we see will improve us and is available I think we'll go for it (like Diaz & Liverpool).

We've had absolutely no income from transfers for players since the new owners came in either & the only commercial deal of any great value they've been able to do is the shirt sleeve sponsor. It's essentially the same financial income that MA had us penny pinching under but now we've got much higher outgoings in other areas that the current owners are trying to improve to make us a proper football club again. Reading are apparently only paying £6k of Jeff Hendricks £50k per week & I can't imagine Sheff Utd are paying that much of Clark's either.

Possibly, it could be that Cornet was a bit further down on the list of people they like and they didn't feel it was worth it in the end.
-
According to Craig Hope etc at the True Faith talk-in last night there's £20m cash available for the remainder of the transfer window. That's one of the reasons we didn't go further for Cornet as West Ham are paying the £17.5 release fee upfront. That £20m could be used as a big down payment for £40m+ player and a loan or split across 2 signings of lower value.

I'd take both of those players but it's not completely impossible that Almiron improves for playing with a better manager and in a better side, he's certainly done enough in the last couple of months for club & country to suggest it's possible.

Really don't think the 3 players that were mentioned are that much if any better than ours given as I said how much of an unknown quantity Scamacca is. Their depth is miles better like but that wasn't what I was on about. Antonio went from January to May without scoring as well, that wasn't all down to injury.
-
Really don't think there's much if anything between - Bowen, Scamacca, Cornet & ASM, Wilson & Almiron. Scamacca could end up absolutely bombing.

I've got a spare for this if anyone wants it.

Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26
KDT replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
Thought Sancet & Williams Jnr were very good for them. -
£10m on another keeper when there's a perfectly reasonable starter already here is not Mike Ashley. Spending best part of £15m on a left back when we had Dummett, Clark, Ritchie & Lewis is not Mike Ashley. Over £30m on a defender is not Mike Ashley. The extensions I can agree with apart from Longstaff who seemed on his way out under Bruce & Ashley. Cornet would be possible under Ashley but that's about it.

Willie McKay and his persuasive ways.

All very quiet from the local journos on us, expect Edwards to back to his positive self on Monday after he's finished with the Euros.

Nobody knows anything.

Forest are going to be pretty fun on FM24 after this relegation season.
-
If we’re looking at someone to play across the front line and wide we could do worse than looking at Martin Terrier of Rennes.
-
For Scamacca please read Rolando Bianchi, same sort of profile. There's always some hesitation with me & Italian forwards coming to England.
-
Nobody knows what we're being quoted but it does seem there needs to a calculated risk taken at some point. There's a middle ground between apparently us now and doing an Everton.

The all with smiling faces podcast/YouTube is canny but more often than not let down by the audio on the podcast.

His agency have deleted the photo of them in Newcastle, surely wouldn't do that unless either club has noticed and made a complaint.
