New signing in <24 hours? No; 'over the weekend'
WarrenBartonCentrePartin replied to a topic in Football
they've got the stories up that will be on the back pages of the paper itself... -
2 mates (one mag, one mackem) said they saw Carroll in a taxi queue last night and got talking to him. Called Keegan and Ashley clowns, and said he'd rather have Keane as manager. Also said he picked up the injury on holiday in Mexico. Dunno if this the mackem making stuff up, but he seems like a bit of a cunt if thats the truth.

the SMB to go into meltdown if it is to be. -
found these on youtube - thought they HAD to be posted. Mods delete if not allowed. I remember reading the Black 'N' White with behind-the-scenes pictures of them being filmed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUvAmH3YpRw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kft1DusBIeM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXww0MekZsE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj5hn5-qoqY

It always used to happen when I was playing in teams as a bairn, my abiding memory is the ball getting stuck, and more often than not, sometimes having to climb on each others shoulders to get the ball out, as at 13 years old couldn't always reach, especially if it was wedged right in. However, just to change the subject, I searched "stanchion goal" on a well-known video site to find some crackers. Upon finding one by Tom Youngs of Cambridge United, I then had a link to another down the side of Lionel Perez taking a penalty, and having it saved, during a Cambridge United game. Odd, but worth a watch!

IMO it isn't Bassong or Spear. I feel something bigger. I don't either, just trying to have a dig at some of those on here being pessimistic and preparing themselves for something underwhelming. -

can't see a story like that arising for a 15 year old (or however old he is) who's going to go into the youth team, nor not name the player when Spear agreed to join us a while ago and we're just sorting out a compensation package. -

He's not exactly the most inconspicuous looking person in the world. he could dye it black, and wear a big top hat. Then everyone will just assume Slash is a Mallorca-based Newcastle fan.... -
has this been posted? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/7537039.stm Zenit have rejected Tottingham Hotspuds' bid for Arshavin.

Jesus, this board is going to be in overdrive should/when it happen(s). IMO, its most likely to be Coloccini, what with us being in Mallorca. I wonder if it is him, will he watch us tonight? Again, if so, will Setanta manage to pick him out in the crowd? -
will this result in a ban? Or a fine? If its the latter its just the fucking FA trying to get some money in their pocket.
-
That was the asking price. It's not rocket science mate. An asking price we won't pay.. Skirge, i'll simplify this for you. We bid, they accepted, we were about to tie up the deal when they raised the amount they wanted. I don't think it's a case of penny pinching, it's a matter of principal. I'd rather lose face and get the player in. I can understand why people are annoyed about it but the alternative is to look strong and miss out on the player. That's what it comes down to. as Sir Harold of Norway would say,

what I honestly don't understand is that if Ashley wants to make money from us, we need to win things, or at least be finishing higher in the league. To do that we need better players. To get better players, you have to spend money. An extra 1/2 million for a quality player in an area in which we are weak is key to climbing up the league, thus bringing in more revenue at the end of the season. Just pay up and bring him in. People saying that other clubs will see us giving in, and will do the same - I can't quite see it.
-
I paid £11.99 last year, and it let me on earlier this morning so I could watch enthralling footage of the squad boarding the plane to Mallorca.
-
I'm surprised Ramos still can't speak enough English to get him by at a news conference. He still had to have questions from the press translated for him, then obviously his answers translated back into English.
-
I said pay the extra as we don't know if there is anyone else in the pipeline. I can only hope that if there is, we've already made some contact and could swiftly complete the deal. Ideally I'd like to have them in for the PSV and Valencia games so they have a bit of time to play with us before the season starts, which I think is very important. However I think the deal could well be dead.

"once Tottenham came in, my heart was set" So he was never after Champions League football then?
-
Champions League for wor David then, just as he was after.
-
true to a point, although when we beat them 4-1, we were in the middle of a mini-revival and they were getting beat week in, week out. Admittedly they were the better team in the 1st half and we were rather poor. I know it didn't affect the overall outcome, but even if they're not doing well, I wouldn't put it past them getting quite psyched up for a derby while Keane's managing them.

been watching the mackems. FUCK ME IT WAS BORING.
-
FYP.

they still need someone to cover for Jones. Surprised they didn't go in for Johnson.
