  1. Everton have been dog shit since the penalty
  2. Exactly , it is not a fatigue issue and so a short number of successive games in a reasonably short time period is exactly what Tonali needed to get up to speed. I am confused by this line up but Eddie has proved me wrong in the past.
  3. Eddie gets it right more often than not, but I am very surprised at Murphy/Longstaff over Tonali/Barnes. We never seem to see our most technical players on the same pitch together and it is highly frustrating.
  4. He is a solid player and decent prospect but he is worth more to Forest than he is to Newcastle at this time and so it makes perfect sense to sell given the PSR world we operate in. Minteh is different because we actually need a right winger and so his value to our squad would have potentially been very high.
  5. At the risk of sounding like Dennis Wise, there is a full compilation on twitter of Sandro's performance and it is very encouraging. So brave on the ball and great combination of power and pace.
  6. The most obvious goal ever. Was just waiting for it before the 60 minute substitute
  7. If pen is given it's not getting overturned but refs don't give these any more as they can rely on VAR as a bail out
  8. From the Forest forum. "We've got one here, one of the first names on the team sheet now. I can't believe Newcastle chose to get rid of him and keep Longstaff"
  9. Like this guy a lot. Strong, good technique and a lot quicker than I had expected, given his reputation as a one-two merchant
  10. Played well but the correct decision to sell him
  11. Credit where its due, class penalty. Never looked like missing
  12. Dirk Kuyt springs to mind

    Marc Guehi

Newcastle's sportswash-driven attempt to sign Guehi rightly thwarted by champions-elect
  14. Definitely one for the unpopular opinions thread but I generally think Hurst comes across ok when he discusses NUFC in the media. The idea that he is a credible interviewee for the i newspaper is completely ridiculous mind!!
  15. Whilst there is obvious logic in improving our 2nd keeper, it is hard to get excited by any signing that isn't decreasing the probability of Murphy, Almiron, Longstaff or Krafth getting extended game time.
  16. Aye. When trying to watch pre season in the app, I got stuck in never ending 'doom loops' and gave up on it and just watched via a browser.

The same logic that Arsenal fans have when they suggest they can tempt Newcastle with a £60m bid for Isak
  18. Douglas is pretty level headed to be fair and I don't think it's entirely disingenuous to suggest there is pressure on the recruitment team to seal some deals to improve the squad , with just over a week until deadline day
  19. Disagree entirely. Whilst there always has been an obvious benefit of buying players on a free, the risks and rewards of such deals are fundamentally changed when PSR is considered. You mention "pure profit" but in a pre-PSR world, accounting profit was largely irrelevant, since all rational financial decision making was based on cash flow and cost of capital (i.e the real world). The risk of putting Tosin on a long (and potentially onerous) contract is high in this context, even if he was free. In a post PSR world, the benefit of crystallising pure accounting PSR profit from deals like this, completely changes the risk/reward dynamics. I.e. clubs are willing to accept the risk of onerous contracts, because the downside is amortised over a long period, whereas the upside (player sale) is crystallised immediately.
  20. Their original plan was probably to do this. Loan for a year , offsetting 50-75 percent of wages , and then sell after one to two years for 100 percent PSR profit. PSR is a joke. Deals that make little economic sense in the real world, make perfect sense in the PSR world. The tail is wagging the dog.
  21. Wayne Routledge being a quality player is a hill I am willing to die on
