Good performance. Could have scored 5 had he not inherited Antoine Sibierski's 50p head.

Always manages to release the ball when you think he might lose it in tight spaces. Such a good attribute.

Top bloke. That Palermo debut was the stuff of legend. Used to see him regularly at David Lloyd gym in Jesmond and he was a friendly guy. I don't think our training ground even had a meaningful gym back in those days which is mental. Ogyuchu Onyewu was with him one time and his training routine seemed to involve bench pressing 100kg+. I couldn't understand how it helped him as a footballer, but there you are.

Seems more likely to me that Isak gets up to full speed over the course of the next few weeks and starts getting goals and playing well. Liverpool are too good and he is too good for this not to happen. The only thing stopping this from happening is if his injury and fitness issues since the Carabao cup final are genuine long term issues rather than him just downing tools and looking to prevent injury prior to his move. Either way, I am going to take no comfort in Isak playing poorly or his lack of fitness, at least until we have both Wissa and Wolt fit and scoring.

AFC Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle United (21/09/25) | post-match from pg. 33

Wolt can lay the ball off for a goalscoring chance if he is not pulled back. -
They were frustratingly good at times second half. But the platform for that was getting the first goal, which was their first shot on target and they could/should have been behind by that point. Credit where it's due though, it's almost impossible to get the ball back from them once they take the lead. Not buying the Rashford hype mind.

The comment was probably tongue in cheek as I agree it's unlikely European clubs are basing their scouting strategy on Twitter reactions. That said, as a rule of thumb, gauging the opinion of the selling club's fans is not a bad place to look from experience
-
He said the Osula deal fell through as they wanted to turn it into a loan and that senior people at Frankfurt were genuinely concerned at the Twitter reaction from NUFC fans in response to the £30m fee. Said £130m was always the real fee for Isak. Confirmed the Isak 'promise' was from Stavely and related to Isak's improved contract and not a promise to be sold. The change in Isak's mood was triggered by LFC buying Ekitike. He got worried at that point that his move would not happen. Was generally critical of PIF in not pushing stadium forward or pushing PSR. Said ASM deal was bizarrely difficult as Al Ahli (PIF owned) pushed hard on price. He talked a fair bit about England as he is England reporter for Mail. He said Tuchel absolutely loves Burn and Tuchel plans to use Burn as a set piece cheat code in USA as Tuchel thinks USA will be dominated by set pieces due to heat. Also said Tuchel is really concerned about Kane fitness in USA -i.e. doesn't think he will be able to run. Tuchel also loves Livramento. He hates Paul Mitchell and Steve Bruce

It was a fund raiser for my local club.

Hope said there was a short period where if Newcastle had met all Brighton's conditions (which they would have ultimately done anyway) there was a high likelihood that they could have concluded the deal as Chelsea were not seriously in at this point despite knowing that is was possible that Pedro would go to Newcastle. I have no strong views on this either way and was just sharing as it was said at the talk in he did and not printed publicly so thought some might find it interesting.

It's been a good window for him and his engagement numbers that's for sure. He was asked that question directly in fairness.
-
Hope said last night that Newcastle had a 2 to 3 day window where they could have completed on the Pedro deal.

Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season

Selling with a buyback clause feels awfully cartel-like behaviour. I would have preferred a Shola arranged loan deal to Falkirk. -

Every chance he has a 15 goal bundesliga season and they sell him for double. His explosive bull in a china shop style might suit the bundesliga. -
This is the only way I think NUFC can justify the deal. Pre agreed to transfer to Saudi league in 2-3 years at a price similar to PSR book value.
-
Yes it depends on the agreement but I find it highly unlikely that a sell on clause features in a sale of a 28/29 year old at a premium deadline day rate. The only thing Newcastle could possibly agree to is something like a 25 percent clause in relation to any profit crystallised with respect to his PSR book value but this seems very far fetched. Not a chance Newcastle agree to a flat 25 percent sell on clause on any future gross transfer fee received.
-
Sell on clauses apply to net profit on sale and so it would be irrelevant for Wissa given his age. Would be amazed if this is true.
-
It's nothing to do with being financial statements champions, it's because an overpay for Wissa now weakens our ability to compete for top players in future, whilst also increasing the likelihood that we have to sell a prize asset in future. Of course, in the short term, not getting a striker now could be disastrous for the season ahead. I have no issue with this deal if we are able to flog Wissa to Saudi for 2-3 years at a price that makes the net PSR hit palatable, but PIF do not seem to want to go down this route so this could be a highly expensive deal.

The refs have no incentive to stick with their original decision as the VAR officials take the flak if it's wrong. The whole looking a the screen is a performative charade to give the illusion that the ref is in control.
