Agree. FFP is completely flawed. It imposes rules that stifle competition. It does little to protect sustainability. It creates illogical incentives that lack economic sense. It is not, however, the primary reason why this Newcastle team lost away at Arsenal.

PIF is a sovereign wealth fund. They operate in a similar way to how a large pension scheme would operate in Europe. They are an asset owner not an asset manager. They couldn't possibly try to actively manage day to day operations of every asset they own and nor would they want to.

I would criticise the entitlement of man united fans in this scenario but I expect Newcastle fans were similar when the club were trying to prise him from Brighton. This is exactly it The lino is not flagging for a penalty and wouldn't dream of doing so. They always sit on fence and leave it to the ref for penalty calls. But the fact he gives a foul means var looks at the penalty through the context a foul has already been given. Not sure that logic stacks up but can't complain as Burn was skinned and continued to foul into the box.
