  3. Triaud told AFP: "We never received any offers for Marouane Chamakh and what is he going to do in Sunderland? "I don't want to insult Sunderland, but I don't even know where they finished last season. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5416515,00.html

  5. "A deal is nearly done, it's very close," said a source. "It could be announced as early as Tuesday or Wednesday next week." Ashley believes he can get a better deal if Newcastle have a manager in place for the massive rebuilding job needed to help the club secure immediate promotion.
  6. MICHAEL OWEN has sent a glossy 34- page brochure about HIMSELF to eight Premier League clubs in a desperate attempt to find a new team for next season. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/359542/MICHAEL-OWEN-FOR-SALE-Newcastle-striker-sends-clubs-brochure-about-HIMSELF.html ;D

  8. Alan Shearer has met Freddy Shepherd to discuss what will happen should the former Newcastle United chairman succeed in buying the club back from Mike Ashley. Shepherd has been desperate to regain control at St James' Park ever since he was ousted by Ashley when the sports retailer secretly purchased Sir John Hall's majority shareholding two years ago. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jun/10/newcastle-united-alan-shearer-freddy-shepherd
  9. The investment group linked to a multi-million pound takeover of English club Newcastle United has refused to comment on reports of the bid which would turn the Championship (second division) side into a Barcelona-style trust. "We are aware of the reports but we have no comment at the moment," John Gaunt, Chief Executive Officer, Profitable Group, told Reuters when contacted at his Singapore headquarters on Wednesday. http://uk.reuters.com/article/footballNews/idUKSP42638020090610?rpc=401&

  18. Another day of talks at Newcastle United's training ground concluded without Alan Shearer signing a four-year contract as the club's manager, but there is quiet optimism that a deal will be concluded by the end of the week. Shearer will not sign a contract until his lawyers have pored over the nuances of every piece of small print and there is consequently nothing unusual in his taking days rather than hours to reach agreement with Mike Ashley, Newcastle's owner. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/may/27/alan-shearer-newcastle-united-contract-negotiations
  19. Shearer and Ashley locked in talks: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/newcastle/5389464/Alan-Shearer-and-Mike-Ashley-locked-in-talks-over-Newcastle-deal.html
  20. How is the situation about Lovenkrands, Raylor and Nolan? Isn't there a rule saying that you can only play for two clubs in one year?
  21. Villa will probable linup like this: Friedel Gardner - Cuellar - Davies - Shorey Milner - Barry - Petrov - Young Agbonlahor - Carew
  22. Michael Owen is set to miss out on Newcastle's survival Sunday showdown. The Newcastle captain is still struggling to shake off a groin strain and manager Alan Shearer has decided not to risk starting his former strike partner at Aston Villa today. And in another gamble, Shearer has decided to start with Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff at left-back, even though his only recognised left-back Jose Enrique is fit. Owen Michael Owen looks likely to miss the Magpies' clash against Aston Villa But with Owen set to start the game on the bench, it is the decision to leave out the struggling former England striker which will raise eyebrows at Villa Park. Owen has gone 11 games without a goal, the worst run of his career. Shearer also dropped him for the defeat at Liverpool earlier in the month. He has failed to train with the rest of the first team throughout the week and is considered behind Obafemi Martins, who has also been struggling with a groin injury. The Nigeria striker is expected to partner Mark Viduka upfront. The decision to keep Duff at left-back makes sense as the former Chelsea midfielder has put in some of his best Newcastle performances in a makeshift back four and Enrique has hardly lived up to his £6million price tag at any time at St James's Park. Peter Lovenkrands will play in front of Duff, with Danny Guthrie taking the right flank. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1187052/Crocked-Owen-set-miss-Newcastles-date-destiny.html?ITO=1490
