Isak’s the most expensive signing in Premier League history and he’s not even able to do even the basics at Liverpool. He looks like a Sunday league player. Weird shit happens sometimes. And we’ve been lucky it happened to the rat going there and unlucky it’s happened with Elanga coming here.
-
I’m not advocating blind optimism, I even said in my post that Elanga’s been shite so far. And he might never work out for us. And I was talking specifically about people getting on his back in the ground. They can’t wait to criticise him. Online criticism on a forum is fine. Although I will take issue with people who say “Elanga’s always been shit” because he hasn’t always been shit, he was class last season and good the season before. And he’s only 23. Just like Isak was class for 2 seasons and we doubled our money, but this season he’s been shit.

Slag him at home to the missus or kids, slag him at work, slag him when you visit your nana, slag him in the pub, slag him when you’re wanking the dog, slag him when you’re perusing the shelves at Sven Adults Books. But try and encourage him when you’re in the ground. That’s how I live my life.

Well I've got no idea why that is. I'm just an ordinary member and I already have a ticket in my name for tonight so it's nowt to do with that. -

Still loads of resale tickets knocking about on the website -
Chris Woods who played in goal for Rangers ? Personally I would have been imagining him between his own sticks, with gloves and a goalie top on, not imagining him up front trying to score goals against Barcelona. I'm all for a bit of cosplay and experimentation but I'd argue you've taken this one too far.

Isak was amazing for us, he's been shite for Liverpool. Is he a shite player who can't cut it in the Premier League, Newcastle fans would say of course he isn't. Were Newcastle fans gutted to lose Isak. Yes. Are Liverpool fans questioning signing Isak, the price they paid and his abilities. Yes. All of that applies to Elanga. Unfortunately it's just what happens with transfers sometimes. He might come good for us, he might not. Chris Wood was dogshit here and people hated him, then he was on fire at Forest and couldn't stop scoring. Or have you all forgotten about that ? Will slagging Elanga off and getting on his back when he's playing poorly make him play better. I doubt it.

And full of older radgies, I've got mates who live down south and have young families, so they very rarely come back for home games but they went to loads of aways every season on 2nd hand tickets and were some of the most vocal in our away support. Most games in the south, they'd be there. Since the ID checks they can very rarely go. -

Man City definitely do that, they've had it in place since 2019 -

We've talked about it in Match Atmosphere, but to get younger fans involved in away games we could do what Man City do and ringfence a % of the away allocation for Members / ST's aged 18-25. And I think for that demographic it'd have to be Members and ST's because of the fact they've been completely frozen out of buying ST's since 2021, when most of them would have still been at school / college / uni. So if they have an ST it's likely because they were fortunate that their parents took them to games. Someone 18-25 who starts following NUFC under their own steam has no way of getting on the ladder now so can't go away and is probably priced out of home games. Which is a ridiculous situation for the future support base to be in. -

Seems like a very balanced view and impressive that you've got presumably young(ish) family but still could do Leverkusen, Makems and then go again tonight I think presenteeism is just such a big problem for us, especially at home games. Far too many people go out of habit and are unwilling to admit that they've lost their passion for being there. I think reconfiguring the ground layout to introduce loads more standing and some ticketing reform (home & away) would be simple ways to make improvements, but NUFC seem unwilling to do anything at all. -

Aye, it's daft to have 8.15 on a Weds night and it could go to pelanties, in a competition where cheaper prices allow more school age kids to go. My first ever game was a league cup night match on a school night in the early 90's and it's what gave me the bug. My kids first games were league cup matches in the last few seasons. I think if people are a bit lethargic about going, but then gee themselves up in the ground then that's all good. Have just seen so many thousands of people going through the motions at games recently and it's been discussed a lot on here. Personally, I think it's admirable if people can admit when the fire is dwindling, it happens sometimes and doesn't make someone any less of a supporter just because they miss a few games. I think there's a sizeable % of our home attendance that would benefit from not going to games for a while, because they've lost the passion and they take their lack of enthusiasm with them into the ground. They'd benefit from some time away, see if absence makes the heart grow fonder. Those are just general thoughts, not being made specific to you by the way. -

If you're not that up for going and think it'll be a poor game, crowd will be dead etc etc, why wouldn't you resell your ticket and give this one a miss and watch it on telly instead ? I'm asking that as a genuine question because I'm interested to know the answer, I'm not asking it to be a dick. -

Can we win the league - no Can we win the league cup - good chance Can we win the champions league - almost certainly not Can we win the FA cup - possibly Can we finish high enough in the league to qualify for Europe - possibly So tonight means shitloads. Up there with one of the most important games we'll play this season. If we're not chomping at the bit both on the pitch and in the stands tonight, then there's something seriously wrong with our team and the fans. We need to be like rabid dogs.
