Every stat nonce in the land is currently in tears as Villa expose their bullshit stat calculations for the nonsense that they are. Goals scored Goals conceded Points accumulated That's all that stats that matter. You can shove the rest up ya hoops.

Is that Villa making a mockery of xG again?

Well that’s the conundrum. Give peak era Mourinho, Fergie, Pep, Ancelotti, Wenger etc a squad like ours plus 5 or 6 world class players and you’ll win things consistently. But Howe isn’t in that elite group of managers. He’s won one trophy in his career and his achievements are doing an amazing job getting lowly Bournemouth up into the top flight and doing a brilliant job resurrecting NUFC. So do you stick, or twist ? If he’s not at his ceiling yet, great. He’s stepped up a level. If he’s at his ceiling, then throwing more expensive players at him won’t make him a better manager and you’re just delaying the inevitable.

Grealish came up to Sunderland to go on the piss and watch the derby with Pickford. He’s a surrogate makem.

If we win the Champions League, but get relegated. Is that deemed as success, or failure ? Asking for a friend

Maybe taking a team to a cup win and regular European qualifications is his upper limit as a coach. Getting beyond that point might be beyond him. He’ll either step up and push on, or he won’t. There can be no doubt he’s one of the best at fixing an underperforming / underinvested side and making them very competitive and greater than the sum of their parts.

You’re right that based on their level of experience, Elanga and Ramsey aren’t rough diamonds and shouldn’t have taken this long to get up to speed. Ramsey gets some slack as he was disrupted by injury though. The interpretation of big bucks has changed a lot due to the insane inflation in transfer fees. We had Minteh leaving for £35m summer 2024 and he’d not kicked a ball in the top flight. Hall came in as an unproven player with a handful of starts for £35m. At £30m Tino was more proven than Hall, but just had a major injury. Gordon for £40m 3 seasons ago with some experience, but not finished article. So buying players with potential from within the Premier League means a £30-40m bracket. Hence why £40-60m isn’t big bucks for an established Premier League player in 2025, which is disgusting and represents capitalism and greed at its worst, but it is what it is unfortunately.

The rationale was that the scouting team and coaches thought he’d be a good addition to our squad and had thought that for a while, so got him on board in the halcyon early summer days before Isak started acting like a cunt and we were forced into a major change of strikers. Anything else is just speculation from amateur keyboard scouts and tacticians.

We also have a lack of leaders in the squad. Trips, Bruno and Burn are our big characters on the pitch and Bruno runs so much on emotion that he isn’t a great leader when we need to stay calm and dig in. Trips has been outstanding as the calm head, but he’s coming to the end of his time here and I can’t see who steps into that role from the current squad.

In my experience, when lads who had a short back n sides decide to grow their hair long, it’s because they’ve got into taking cowies. Makes you think.
-
This is like when you’ve been going out with a lass for a few years and it’s gone a bit stale. The moves you took pride in at the start of the relationship just aren’t delivering the goods any more. Do you keep plugging away with missionary, doggy, reverse cowgirl and hope things improve ? Or do you take decisive action and suggest cosplay and mild S&M with a pre-agreed safeword ? Because something needs to change, otherwise she’ll definitely be signing up for 1 on 1 high intensity classes with her gym instructor.

Fucking hate these cunts. Every fucking plastic manc I’ve had the misfortune of encountering since the 1990’s, arrogant entitled cunts. Kids on the school bus in Northumberland in 1996 taking the piss because “they’d” won the league. Fucking arseholes had never been to Manchester in their lives. Probably couldn’t have pointed to Manchester on a map. Subhuman scum. Let’s smash these cunts into smithereens. And then dance on their broken souls.- 314 replies

Emery walks into the changing room and says ‘who’s used all the penicillin?’ ‘Oh, Harvey Elliott sir, he’s got knobrot off some tart.’
-
New DoF at Villa arrived after Elliot deal was agreed and he doesn’t want to go through with the loan to perm signing that his predecessor agreed with Liverpool, so Villa won’t let Elliot play the 10 games that are needed to trigger the perm move. That seems to be the general view.

I was right in front of Wings for Fulham 1/4 final and was surprised to see it was shut for a relatively high profile night game not long before Xmas, which you’d imagine would be a decent time of year for a corporate doo. The prices they charge for the quality of hospitality facilities is just way too much. It’s hardly a surprise that there’s loads of the hospitality seats available for every game. You’ve got to have some pulling power for tickets at £300+ and we have neither the team or the fan demographic to justify that.

Having been in the Barracks I’d agree with the opinion that’s it’s definitely not worth the money. Getting your ale in a glass, a bit of street food and a Britpop covers band after the game is just not worth the cost versus an ordinary ticket in the Milburn. It’s a rip off. Champagne prices for a lemonade experience.

What’s the goss from the Villa perspective about why Emery wants to send him back ?
