I think because most of the players at one time or another and when allowed to and put in the correct positions have shown their qualities in the past. Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Sissoko, Marveaux, Cisse etc. So I assume people have more believe in the players if they were directed correctly rather than the manger. Add in the fact that when a whole team is under performing and getting bad results the manager should take responsibility. If it was just two or three players that were performing badly then of course blame the players but when they all struggle then there is a much bigger problem.

I'm not saying I feel that way but that seems to be the view of the club.

Bit worried about Hatem. Pardew came out at the start of the summer and said he was back to full fitness and looking back to the player he was 2 years ago but from what i've seen and also heard from other people he looks no where near. I know he barely played a minute of pre-season last year and then started as our fittest and best performer but this year he is getting more minutes and not really shown anything while still looking a little bit heavy. Just hope he can't be arsed in pre-season and will turn it on when it matters.

It was my understanding this thread was started because he stated there would be "no excuses this season" so if he does come out with them he will be going against what he has said. If he hadn't said that then fair enough you could argue it's a bit silly to make this thread as he has been deflecting criticism since the day he joined so why now. But since he has stated "no excuses" I don't understand how anybody can have a problem with this thread.

Only time I remember Sissoko starting in a midfield two with Cabaye was Fulham at home with Gouffran upfront also. We started that game well but then someone got injured (santon?) and we reverted back to the original line up. Don't know why it hasn't been tried since.

I feel you are worried that when you get into your Pardew debates with people they will just point to countless examples from this thread and it will make it harder to defend the sometimes indefensible.

People giving the Berbatov example realise he cost £30m and a few seasons later he was allowed to leave for £4m. On our budget we obviously cannot afford to lose that much money according to Ashley. So even if Maloney cost about £4-5m we wouldn't get any of that back and therefore the club would never be interested in him.

There is nothing embarrassing about this thread unless you have a blind loyalty to Pardew. He comes out with ridiculous amounts of bullshit and people want to pull him up on it. What better way than documenting contradictory statements from the man himself.

It's baffling that he can't see it, it's so clear. This. Starting to wonder if we'd be better off with Kinnear. It's splitting hairs as to which one I hate most atm. Despite his size Sissoko is probably one of, if not the worst headers of the ball in the squad. His timing, jumping and direction are all awful

Ah atleast he wasn't being shoe-horned into right mid like I feared/we were told. But does still sound like Pardew has no idea where to play him still.
