Other clubs won't stand still while we're out and about in the transfer market- they'll look to improve as well. Man City, are really improving, with a Psychopathic Chairman, Liverpool, Will definately suffer, with thier boardroom carry on, Chelsea, have a good chance of sacking their manager, Arsenal, got problems at board level, There is plenty oportunity for us to progress, i'm talking about our immediate rivals,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the one's challenging us for the uefa cup spot next year (spurs, villa, everton, portsmouth and fair enough you've mentioned man city). 4th is a bit out of our reach at the moment, i'd be ecstatic if we finished 5th next season.

You are simply wrong, 91-92, we were dreadful, avoided relegation to third on last day... (keegan wasnt there at start) 92-93... 11 wins at start....Champions 93-94.... 1st season in prem...3rd 94-95....Team rebuilding....6th 95-96....Eric Cantona robbed us the Tiltle.....2nd 96-97.... played over half a season under KK....2nd thatl be, 1st, 3rd, 6th , 2nd 2nd, seasons began with KK as manager, And it was F-king great, i was there home and away. anybody thinks we are finishing half way down the league next season, is wrong. Anything is possible for sure and you are right in highlighting the fabulous record KK has at managing us. However the PL is a completely different ball game now, you really need huge amounts of money to compete with the big 4 in the league. Even if Ashley invested of 100 million in the summer, I don't think that would be enough to close the gap, it's that big. The problem is that in order to compete with the big boys, we have to be one of the big boys.. if that makes sense? Money's being thrown around like confetti at a wedding nowadays, so now, much more than before, we have to rely on our 'attractiveness' to potential stars since other teams are willing to pay-up as well. Unfortunately, however season upon season under-achieving ahs taken its toll and we are no longer an attractive outfit-- teams like tottenham now have more allure-- and in order to attract the stars that will help us break into the top 4, we need to be finishing as close as possible to them. Im under no illusions as to keegans managerial prowess- he's a great man- but to bridge the gap in 1 season regardless of how much we spend (who can we realistically attract that'll help us get into the champions league?) is ludricrously far-fetched thinking. Paddock, although i enjoy your optimism and hope that you're right, i just can't see it happening tbh...

Are you needs? R*d should never come anywhere near St James and that includes that Sports Direct sign on the top of the Gallowgate. Its the colour of the devil and all things bad. Better dead than R*d Ffs get a grip man its only a colour. A green and yellow one would be pretty nice imo

west brom above man city?

Why would we want Vukcevic's agent?

Knowing keegan's ambition and the calibre of players we're targetting, i think we're in a for a rejection-riddled summer. [/pesimism]

He's so good that the guy on the right concedes defeat and offers to kiss his hand as a gesture of his unworthiness. Probably has a mountainous list of clubs he'd rather go to than newcastle unfortunately.

Yeah, and let's all wear chelsea shirts with 'pat' on the back as well.. Sweet sentiment but i think refraining from hurling abuse at him would be sufficient. we could all stand and do Frank Butcher impressions too. "PAAAAT, PAAAAT. What 'ave you done to me PAAAAAT!" Or we could all dress as postmen..

this went down well

This thread has swiftly become a spurs gloat(if you're kd or mj)/slag-fest. It seriously needs to be locked.

So i take it you would rather have Taylor and Cacapa over him ? I think it would be a great buy Man city fan surely.

Wright-phillips would've been a jump up and down on my sofa signing a week and a half ago... now its more of a "meh, but look spurs bought modric". We need a "Extremely hopeful summer targets thread" (although it can't be much different to some of the posts i'm seeing here). harper beye faye dunne a. cole/ enrique bentley l.diarra joe cole owen martins huntelaar There's my never-gonna-happen team for next season
