  1. Man United making Berge one of their big signings would be hilarious.

I understand the clamor for a RW (obviously long overdue), but we'd be close to a similar situation this time next year at CB and who knows who would be available. Schar - 33 at end of season (contract expires June 2025) Lascelles - 31 (contract expires June 2025) Burn - 33 (contract expires June 2025) Trippier - 34 (contract expires June 2025) Krafth - 30 (contract expires June 2025) I imagine there will be at least a couple of extensions, but we're one season away from a necessary overhaul across the backline. This also gives us flexibility to not give extensions where we don't want to. Some of these players will start to decline even if they seem fine right now. This could all be a next summer problem except two of our CBs are out with ACL injuries and they likely won't be themselves at any point this season, so that has probably caused us to consider this just as urgent as RW.
  3. Given Trippier Albert Schar Bruno Ben Arfa Ginola Robert Solano Isak Shearer Manager: Keegan Bench: Pope, Woodgate, W. Barton, Lee, Cabaye, Speed, Beardsley, Les, Bellamy Bruno would die trying to support that midfield

One day we won't even be able to keep track of the money coming in from sell-on clauses and youngsters we're moving on.

Reading through Swiss Ramble's review of their 2022/23 finances. This made me chuckle: Another reason for the growth was a significant increase in headcount from 273 to 319, though 40 of this came in lower paid administration/operations. Note. The employees section in the accounts does not add up properly, so a black mark for the auditors there. It is absolutely wild reading the accounts of a Championship / L1 club after mostly looking at PL clubs. Their amortisation charge for the year was £2.7m, which is like a couple months of Isak.

Literally nothing has happened yet (including this if it comes off) that disputes the "mutterings of the accountant types."

He definitely still has Ornstein level authority in terms of thread titles and he really shouldn't.

  9. It's petty, but I will never forgive Miggy for not using his right foot when Tomori made the goal line clearance. That was the moment I was done with him.

The PSR / financial discussions get all the flak, but the real stain on any transfer thread is the constant smokescreen comments.

To be fair more than half of the content on this forum is people worrying about things which are completely out of our hands. Part of the ride, unfortunately, is figuring out how to compete within the financial regulations when others have had a huge headstart. I'm enjoying it more than if we were able to just buy the league to be honest, but it's going to have its frustrating moments.
  12. According to reports it’s 20-25% of the next fee.
  13. I keep forgetting that Atlanta has a sell-on clause with Miggy. I'd really love some rumblings on outgoings -- Dubravka, Fraser, Lewis, Miggy, Targett (in a dream). Anything please.

I have no ill will towards Sean. I just don't think he's good enough, though he's honestly fine as a 5th/6th choice CM. The only thing I can't stand about him are his attempts at diving.

He didn’t. You may be confusing it for him saying we likely just complied for the period ending in June 2023.

Yeah, we really need to get rid of Dubravka to make this tolerable.

Guessing he ultimately wouldn't have been much less than Thiaw. Guehi is probably like a £6-8m annual premium on Thiaw. Seems worth it to me.

If this gets done we’d have the option of a pretty intriguing back five (with Botman still to return)… Hall — Kelly — Guehi — Schar — Trips/Tino In theory that would also allow us to remove the weak RW position, though I don't know exactly what that front 5 would look like.
  19. I can’t tell if you’re just making up a number or not. Seems impossible and believable at the same time.
  20. Going to make a world of difference in ~5 years.

It is funny that we created chances and scored goals at rates on par with all but the two title challengers while leaking goals for fun at times, but we mostly all want a RW first anyway. There's plenty of good reasons for that as well as the fact that a new, shiny forward is just more fun, but there's definitely a case to be made that this could be more impactful.
  22. My based on nothing at all theory is that Gallagher was as appalled as many of us at them moving on from Poch and he's probably made it known how he feels.

I'm sure this board would handle the 34 year old CB duo of Sven and Guehi with complete patience and understanding.

He has two years left on his contract at Crystal Palace and has been valued at more than £70million. Chelsea, his former club, are due 20 per cent of the profit on any deal. Guéhi joined Palace for £18million three years ago having come through Chelsea’s academy, and the west London club have the right to match any bids from other clubs. Fucking Chelsea.
