I don’t really like both our players on the left flank being right footed.
-
Took a dizzy Schär and a wondergoal to beat us. Can’t really complain. Pedri was absolutely phenomenal. We beat those on another day.

That is an outrageous decision.

Atmosphere in Manchester absolutely electric.

Mental! Wor Tonali

A lot of learning curves in this window for us. We tried competing for targets with Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea and City which failed massively. Difficult to say if they were ultimately better organized in their approaches, offering more money or if their “legacy” status simply has that bit extra of magnetism to sway players their way. We gambled on a certain strategy and it failed. Shit happens. To make matters worse the Isak saga was so toxic it probably sets an international precedent in terms of player power, honoring contracts and transfers in general. In the end we fetched a PL record fee for him which shouldn’t be baulked at. But it all hurt the club massively. The backroom has looked in disarray for a while now which put the icing on the cake. Somehow, through all of this, the club navigated through it admirably. A solid PL goalkeeper, a young centre back with bags of potential, a versatile young midfielder, one of the league’s best wingers, one of the world’s most exciting young forwards and a PL proven goalscorer. We’ve probably massively upgraded Dúbravka, Lascelles, Longstaff, Almiron and Wilson. Now we can put the drama behind us thank fuck. 8/10.

This is genuinely one of the worst matches of football I have ever seen.
-
We have no idea how to move the ball up the field.
-
Bill Osula hasn’t been bad, not at all. Bruno however needs to step up and Murphy needs to make way for Elanga.
-
Why on earth is Tonali and not Trippier on corners?
-
We’re naive in possession.
-
It’s a 3-5-2?
-
Such an incredibly badly drilled team.

This window has officially surpassed the Anita window as the worst in my lifetime.

I’m very unsure Wissa would want to come here to play second fiddle to Sesko or Isak. Not at this stage in his career and Brentford can probably match what we offer him in wages. How we are not being linked with some young strikers from abroad or the championship is beyond me.
-
One of our most valuable assets at the moment is Howe’s ability to improve players. If us and Man Utd are both in for Sesko this definitely factors into his decision. On one side he sees the trajectories of Isak, Gordon, Bruno and Livramento. On the other he sees Sancho, Höjlund, Zirkzee and Antony. I think this gives us more edge than most people realize. I’d be very, very confident of Howe making an exceptional player out of Sesko.

Lewandowski’s contract runs out next summer. He might just be the highest earner in world football so that should leave Barca with some money to spend and a no9 spot to fill. Real might be tempted to move Mbappe back to left wing which means they might need a striker. Kane will be 33 next summer and Bayern will be eyeing up a replacement in the near future. This is all pure conjecture I know, but all I’m saying is the market right now consists of one club. In any case that’s the wrong circumstances to sell him.
-
In my view this all boils down to two things: - He’s got three years left on his contract - In all likelihood there will be a better market for a striker of his calibre next summer Keep him for the coming season and then let him leave. Even if he’ll be unhappy what can he really do? Feign injury for the full season?

Joao Pedro too. The club has clearly been preparing for this since the season ended. We were absolutely never going to buy Joao Pedro or Ekitike as back up striker for 60 odd million or suddenly changing tactics to play two up front. We’re in deep shit now and this sends a troubling message internally and externally. Being a bit of an idiot I am however clinging to the hopeful notion that offloading your best player can sometimes improve the squad. Liverpool did it after selling Coutinho and PSG look miles better without Mbappé, Neymar and Messi. Villa improved after selling Grealish as well. This is probably quite rare though. I sincerely hope the rest of the players are resentful towards Isak.
