Yesterday was pretty phenomenal even by NUFC's standards. Pre game was great, you could feel it in the air that everyone was happy to be out and full of hope. Then the work you guys did with the flags took things to another level. Then the utter snoozefest of a first half. The first half an hour was like watching a team of dementors. They totally sucked the soul out of the ground.

Despite mongs being mongs in the grand scheme of things we were the only plus point on a miserable day at St James'. If it has inspired the bairns to pick us as their team and the fan base to put hands in pockets we can replace those that were stolen or taken by accident. Unfortunately what we cannot take back is the time spent but tbf if that sort of display becomes the norm and we double our volunteers then spending the time was worth it. Was quite moved by it at 14.50. Was proud of what a small amount of people could achieve (work wise) and proud to be a Geordie. Onwards and upwards! -

I think something like 450 of the 500 have been used and dished out. I'm not certain though. The flags didn't come ready made so we had to split them down into size and type then decide of they were large enough for the fishing rod type poles or if they should be okay on bamboo. Then we had to tape them on so they didn't fall off before running through compiled lists of where the 'volunteers' sat. Obviously we then needed to try and avoid putting all one flag type in an area. Sounds obvious and easy but took some graft like. Top marks to my fellow comrades who stuck it out to the end hopefully it all looks great today. -

I suspect of everything gets respected as per the fan groups' wishes then this will be a big hit and can only grow. Inevitably there will be people whinging about all sorts but if they see the greater good and get silenced by the masses then happy days. Over to he players to do their bit now... -

I can nigh on guarantee that there will be loads of miserable fuckheads tomorrow that kick up a stir and the twats at the club will listen to them and we'll be back to a library. -

Half the people that complain probably spent the last 5 years complaining about the lack of atmosphere. English football is crying out for a bit more fan interaction and atmosphere. -

I don't think we should have a 9 this season

I wonder what / when Newcastle really sold itself to him. He must have had a soft spot for us for some reason...

Anyone strangely excited?

Moussa would probably do alright at better sides to be fair to him. He isn't s**** (despite the fact I have probably called him it many-a-time). He's not what I'd call a "good footballer" by my interpretation of the term. He's an outstanding athlete who has average footballing ability and footballing intelligence. He's no good in confined spaces and he's not particularly great at defending. He doesn't make decisions very well generally speaking and doesn't read the game. However, he has pace, power and acceleration that far outweighs many his size (and obviously smaller). He offers something different for many top sides and they'll take the punt on him as a bit part player for when teams are pressing them back or when the game is stretched. For what it's worth he has been a mercenary c*** for the last 9 of the last 12 months and Rafa was seemingly getting him back to his best. The captaincy did him wonders (and maybe the upcoming Euros) but it's too little too late. He'd tear the championship apart for what it's worth but I reckon it's best for his career and best for us that this is wrapped up sooner rather than later. At the end of the day most footballers are mercenary c***s nowadays it just so happens that this one isn't one of the more tactful ones. I suspect that's somewhat down to his agent trying to force his next big deal too. He has no professionalism and whilst I understand all of the players being as disenchanted as we have been if they're really thinking of their short careers he really should have been putting in more of a shift more often. Returning to my original point. Good footballers are technically sound or can read the game. Excellent footballers can do both and world class players do both but have the physicality. Brain beats brawn ultimately. Nolberto Solano was the epitome of that but as mentioned he had the likes of Dyer and Bellamy around him.

That's where I'm at.

If we do win this one I literally can see us going unbeaten

"All the best" isn't the same as "congratulations" like. I wouldn't have said. Ones wishing someone good fortune and the other is applauding their success. I've already expressed my thoughts on Moussa's latest scenario though...
