8s is fine on those pitches especially if folk are particularly unfit

I get the impression that were City to not win the league they'd be desperate for us to nowadays like Like a EPL game of Risk.

I don't believe it is wrong for Man City to get what they believe they are entitled to through the alleged governing body of the league's ineptitude. It is wrong that the alleged governing body has got themselves in this predicament in the first place. Re. The wider state of football. It's entirely shite that state owned clubs will in effect assert absolute dominance through the magnitude of their financial capability. However, that horse has also bolted and what happened with our takeover was that everyone except Man City and one or two others basically said "Ah no fuck that, they'll blow us out the water". I mean, they would. Of course they would. Who wouldn't? We would. However, we are entirely within our rights to say "why does it stop with us?" Just as Man City are allowed to say the same (and others). The rulings may have underlying best intentions (the PL will claim they do) but in reality, it is being proven that they didn't. They've sought to amend rules and adapt rules to prevent other clubs from blowing apart the cartel. Their ineptitude of creating fair and just practices to keep the competitive nature of the league in line has resulted in creating a closed shop with "happy-go-lucky" clubs filling up the spots behind, content with riding the gravy train and being the "best of the rest". How is that competitive? What needs to happen is that a fair and just method of untangling this mess needs to occur. Which, for me, means a different governing body taking control as all trust is lost in the PL. Once that is complete, new rules need to be put in place to enable the growth of said sporting institutions whereby they're protected for their communities (not businessmen or global empires) and can become or remain competitive without obscene financial input designed to remove competitivity. Many will disagree, I am sure. However, I think the Atheltic Bilbao model adapted worldwide would be a pretty awesome thing. Players from their own region representing their own area or team and the investment happens at grassroot level to ensure the foundations are always in place for children from said region to be able to make the biggest stage. That itself wouldn't be perfect with richer regions or countries having better facilities etc. But it'd be far more organic than the current model. Speaking purely as an NUFC fan in the current state though, we should have the attitude that everyone except maybe half a dozen sides are trying to illegally hold us back, so fuck them. Let's blow them apart.

That lasts 5 years.

One thing is for certain, it shows the corrupt nature of the league.

Would the FMV ruling not essentially mean that now the PL must be transparent on its rejections of sponsorship deals and as a result the grounds on which a rejection is made? If so, and there aren't legitimate grounds or a means to define FMV then surely it's a big thing that allows us to splash the cash (but also others admittedly)? Difference being we don't have outstanding debt like the other clubs, or not much of it, by comparison...cheers Mike.

Yep. Formally and informally - make this a matter of us and them now and utilise it to fuel a fire that sets this steam engine rolling.
-
Or offer a time to get their collective house in order, I guess, whilst the rules are rewritten. That in itself would come under fire though by those such as ourselves and City, you'd imagine.

It's just shite and me waffling mate. Don't worry. I have like, 30% understanding.
-
Aye. The rule is bollocks really. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder isn't it. Something could be worth a fiver to o person but worth 50million to another. So for example, Newcastle is worth £600b which is absolutely fair, I think you'd all agree.
-
Me especially and I'm right.
-
What this should highlight to us as a club though is that the intent from virtually all but Man City was to stop us dead in our financial tracks. So fuck the other 18 or so.
-
My suspicion is that as clubs have acted seemingly within the rules of the Premier League they can not now be reprimanded for operating within said rules. So any retrospective repercussions simply won't exist. That means that leaves only the here and now and the future. My suspicion there is that clubs will be advised to fall in line with PSR etc. By the end of the season or face repercussions in the new season. That way clubs have time to respond and tow the line. As for the Man City crack and FMV then I suspect there'll be changes to that ruling that ultimately enforce it in a more transparent and fair manner moving forward so to maintain the existing status quo and prevent those such as our good selves blowing it out the water or extending the so called "elite" to another club. How they do that, would have to be defined and so, it wouldn't surprise me if a cap or period of "closure" was implemented to manage this until they define the new and transparent measures. To someone else's earlier point (Bimpy?) I'd be surprised to see rival clubs back off now. Instead I think they'll double down together and possibly against the Premier League. The only thing that is absolutely certain now is that the Premier League is absolutely and entirely fucked with regards to credibility.
-
Amen to that.

-
Nee idea.

If one of which was deemed to be £80m for the year then that could mean a claim for what? £20m? For just one of said deals to Man City - is that correct? I wonder how much the PL actually has/rakes in once all the competition money is divvied back out to clubs etc. This is just one as well, there could be a multitude of similar claims and the screw also getting turned by the likes of Arsenal et al as they collectively shite their pants. The PL could be fucked.
-
Is that not to some degree irrelevant though as the expenditure made on such developments would have had to be made directly from their "transfer funds" thus not enabling them to spend it on players, etc.? It's all very complicated. The PL have embarrassed themselves...again.
-
What happens if the BL goes bankrupt? I mean, could that be a thing? Would there essentially be no top flight? Or would it just become the First Divison of old?
-
Yep. Absolutely this. At what point did football become as much about the business and boardroom as the 11 on the pitch? Like as a fan, we're embroiled in this absolute shite instead of simply looking forward to the next midweek or Saturday game. Football itself has become too much, extra games, more extra games, more television, more money. The novelty of a midweek European game and a Saturday 3 o clock is long lost and we're all a cash cow being milked by the media. Football requires adequate and uncorrupt governance and to be brought back in line. That being said, let's spunk some money a wipe the floor with all the DCs that chained us back.
-
I mean, I struggle to get most this malarkey but it seems to me the door has swung wide open for us to accuse the Premier League of anti-competitivity with regards to Newcastle United and an unfair and unjust system designed to prevent Newcastle especially from progressing into the upper echelons of the PL. The PL, of course, having bene lobbied by the existing members (as you'd expect). As a club we should really nail the PL and rival clubs now and "stick it to the man". Fuck the whole lot of them. Except Man City, who ironically we may now be able to compete with

Does a lawsuit count as viable revenue if successful?
-
The Premier League have entirely fucked this up. What amused me was Everton singing that to the referee when a) it wasn't a penalty and b) we're the ones being fucked by it the most. We've literally been chained to the floor by any means possible to prevent us from taking off. It's shit tbf, money is absolutely ruining the game. That being said, hasn't money always meant those with greater resource get to the top? So it's just an issue now we could theoretically blow teams entirely out the water? Elon Musk will buy Man United now

What was Everton were singing again.. "Premier League, corrupt as fuck" #LOL
