  1. You've put it much better than I've tried to for the past hour. Thanks I appreciate that football should be played to be won, as opposed to not being beaten. However, Football is a sport, not an entertainment business - fans want to win, not to be entertained.
  2. he should have been sent off for his protests over the pen that wasn't given Agreed. So should Drogba for persisting to abuse the referee after being booked.
  3. And likely to end in a good kicking for one or more of them if we do go down. Exactly. They should be far more sensible, I notice Bentdner has just apologised for going out last night after the Arsenal game too. Shame our lot can't apologise...
  4. The main thing is those jellied eel eating, whinging, cheating, Chelsea rent boys got a taste of their own medicine tonight, at the hands of a brilliant, fluent Barcelona side. Come on the Catalans in the grand finale.

    Joey Barton

Being part of a successful team means one has to have more quality attributes than superior footballing ability...
  6. I thought the last 2 were fairly clear cut, especially the third, however the other 2 and the sending off shouldn't have been anything. Nevertheless, it's great to see them bastards get a taste of their own medicine, the better footballing team went through and the final will be more of a spectacle as a result.
  7. At the end of the day they are earning in one week what the majority of people are earning in 2 years, maybe even 3 or 4. When these people save up all season for another season ticket to see their team perform once a fortnight I think it is an utter piss take that these are seen at all in the town drinking. They should at least have enough respect for the fans to say - "I have to show some discipline and show that I am determined to help them get their club out this mess." Fair enough going out for a meal with the missus or a few mates or whatever but going on a "night out" is pretty shambolic. Like previously mentioned - doing it when your performing is fair enough, but when you aren't it is pretty disrespectful.

We are stayin' up, say we are stayin' up!
  9. Crumpy Gunt I cannot see where you're coming from at all on this one. In fact it's quite worrying - it's about time these overpaid wankers got a kick up the arse and shown a bit of discipline. Half the bastards couldn't give a shit and it's that lack of discipline that is seriously effecting the morale, not Shearers alleged spat with Joey fucking Barton. How anyone can blame Shearer in this instance is beyond me...

    Joey Barton

To suggest Shearer is wrong in all of this is nothign short of ridiculous. Joey Barton is a wanker, and for once he has came up against someone who isn't frightened to end this mans career, even if it is only as a Newcastle United player. This twat has had endless amounts of chances, and finally someone has embarassed him in front of the world. He will never even be half the player Shearer was and certaintly not half the man. I must admit I backed him thinking he was our strongest central midfielder and thought I'll give him one last chance, but the fuckstick has blown it now - completely. WELL DONE ALAN SHEARER!!...for you have publically shown your not going to be fucked around and you are going to show discipline is being instilled in everyone at the club. This sends a message out to anyone in football, Alan Shearer won't be fucked with as a manager, just as he wouldn't be fucked with as a player. He wears his heart on his sleeve, his black and white sleeve, and that is something Newcastle need right now, not some jumped up little charva twat getting sent off. This should bring more unity to the players - or I would like to think so, and if quality isn't going to get us out fo this mess then I hope the determination, motivation and dedication does! FUCK JOEY BARTON! FUCK RELEGATION! HOWAY ALAN SHEARERS BLACK AND WHITE ARMY!

Joey Barton always has been a cunt, and always will be a cunt, so it's about time someone treated him like a cunt and fucked him.
  12. Should be good this game like...
  13. We have 5 games left of which all are like cup games, and in cup games previous form doesn't matter. It's about us wanting it on the day now.....

"Geordie" dean? In my experience Geordies are the most optimistic people anyone could meet, and for you to give up on us at this stage is a disgrace! We are still fighting and I and many others still believe we can get out of it. I'm sure Shearer believes, and if the vast majority of the St James' faithful believe I know we will do it!
  15. Aye - complete miserable feckers. That's a great shame.....it used to be one of the most ferocious stands in the country. They still are to be honest, a bit quieter nowadays though. The South East Corner tends to generate the Gallowgate atmosphere. I was just trying to get a bite... Unlucky... God loves a tryer...

Conversley, Fulham appear to have a very non-intimidatory atmosphere at Craven Cottage yet they have had a much better season. What helps you attain anything close to success is having a good manager and its NUFC's lack of focus on this that has got us where we are. I agree to a certain extent, hwoever I am of the opinion that the lack of self belief on and off the pitch is contributing to our current plight equally as much if not more.

I was referring to everyone involved with the club, but the players in particular. E.g. When we as fans lack enthusiasm and belief (who should probably have it more than anyone else due to our loyalty to the club, passion for our area, etc) and when our players beleive they are useless for whatever reason. Just everyone. It's just the players are the only people who can massively make the difference, but as supporters we can do our bit too as (in) effective as we may be.... Look at Stoke - their home form has driven them to safety because teams fear going there - the atmosphere seems great most the time...

A capable set of indivuals would have the self belief that they wouldn't get into such a mess....which is what I believe has been our flaw - both on and off the pitch.

I appreciate that many comments made will be accurate to date. However, the fact that relegation was in our heads so early in my opinion has been a contributory factor in where we are now at.

I agree, I just meant the timing that it was actually began, and the amount of responses it had recieved within such a short time. To even begin thinking your going down at the end of November is disgraceful. But they were right though werent they ? I would just call that being very aware of our deficiencies and having seen it all before I would call it building your own coffin.

This thread is quite embarassing on reflection...
  23. First game of the season, away at Manchester United - everyone ruled it out as 0 points for us from our first game - yet we came away with an unexpected point in a well fought game. The optimism continued for a few games and the football looked decent although we struggled to pick up consecutive wins. Our signings looked fairly decent and everyone appeared to be happy despite limited funds being made available. Then... Keegan gets f***ed around by the board members, they go behind his back signing players who he normally wouldn't have (?) and Keegan spits his dummy out - Which was the snowflake thats now caused an avalanche. Now, not to get in to a debate about who was at fault i.e. the board/Keegan/The fans/etc, but just to discuss the emotions and performances from there onwards: What enthusiasm was there had been stripped from everyone involved at the club. A massive debate split the "faithful" support of Newcastle United and opinions strongly divided various sections of our support. The problem slowly faded into the background as we began to pick up draw after draw and struggled to pick up wins especially at home..where fans have become increasingly frustrated. Newcastle as a result were no longer United, and 8 games from the end of the season we finally as a club put a plug in our quarter-full bathtub of hope, we brought in Alan Shearer. Hope was restored in many, us being football fans we do suffer from a degree of fickleness. But on the other hand 3 games later 90% of us appear to have resigned to relegation. My point in this being, if you look at the remaining fixtures for the bottom 5 or 6, we are far from down yet, our games against Portsmouth and Middlesbrough could well seal our fate however. How many of us expected anything today? I bet there were only a few who 'expected' but we all 'hoped'. There are 5 games left this season 2 against the top 5. As ridiculous as it sounds should we really be writing these games off? We beat Aston Villa at SJP, we drew with Man United away, we pushed Arsenal and Man United at home for a good hour or so and we drew with Chelsea away. I know we have taken our beatings off them too, but to write off any game this season is foolish. This same attitude of resignation to defeat is what has got us into the problem we are in, in my opinion. I'm actually going to check the "Relegationometer" thread to see when that started because I have a feeling it was around December time. Which shows just how ridiculous we as a club have become this season. How many clubs in the bottom 8 or 9 thought they were down at January? I bet not many and I bet alot of them still don't believe they are down. Alot of it is down to the self fulfilling prophecy in my opinion - if you believe your going down you will go down, if you believe you can do it and avoid relegation you will, and I believe our biggest downfall more than anything else this season has been a flaw in the psychological aspects of absolutely everyone connected with the club. The only way we can redeem ourselves and possibly survive now is if we as supporters back them at home and constantly encourage instead of getting on their backs. 9 Points WOULD keep us up I don't care what anyone says and I personally believe we will get at least 7 - if we just BELIEVE we can do it. So a rather typical post by your resident Toon Ultra but this time I mean it more then ever - Bring Back The Noise! Get behind the lads! and lets get ourselves out this shithole called the relegation zone!! EDIT: Just for the record it was November 30th when we began discussing relegation - :-[
