Can't see Mapou being raped for pace and power like Shane Long has done several times to Colo in recent seasons though. I would Argue MYM has a far better platform to become a top Premier League CB than Colo.

tbf to Haris, we weren't/ aren't playing the type of football that would utilise a second striker at the moment. Goofy didn't do any better there and it did take a while for HBA to get a touch in that role.

Always funny to see Ronaldo put his foot in it With Cisse and potentially Gomis leading our strikeforce I think we need a left footed option at left back just in case we need to change things and get some quality crosses in the box. Massadio has a role to play for NUFC this season.

Gomis would be even worse than Cisse at RW imo. The fact he was caught offside more than Cisse last season should tell you the type of plaer he is (target man, on the shoulder of the defence) rather than a player who is comfortable with the ball at his feet with a range of passing like Remy (who would be fine wide, but still not his best position) Also if your three man midfield was a flat 3 Ben Arfa would get exposed defensively pretty frequently. Good on paper though!

Current situation reminds me of the Seinfeld episode "The Voice". Instead of George Costanza faking a disability, Alan Pardew has faked being a premier league quality manager and now the boss (Ashley) is doing everything he can to get him to quit. May have to climb through the vents to get back into his office after he gets back.

So three new strikers and keep hold of Cisse? ok That would be a sensible amount of strikers as far as I'm concerned. Bent/Cisse/Gomis as the main striker options, with Remy/Gouffran as the more withdrawn option / wingish position. (Obviously it'll never f***ing happen like) That's what I mean though. Sure 4 strikers would be sensible but this is Newcastle. I think people get a little carried away. Yesterday was looking like we potentially might go into season with just Gouffran and Shola and then the Gomis link is announced and suddenly people think sign 3 new strikers aswell as keep hold of Cisse. Cisse/Gomis/Remy/Gouffran/Bent might be ok if we had European football to compete with. 3 of those 5 is far more sensible for a team like us that will only play with 1 striker.
