Teams that don't respect the poppy appeal?
wrightstuff83 replied to wrightstuff83's topic in Football
I did not single out Celtic man, I mentioned celtic&sunderland as 2clubs who did nothing for the appeal last year, the thread was then shaped by other posters to become a sectarian aspect! My question was why a club would not wish to respect it? IMO it is extremely disrespectful of a club not to respect it! Perhaps I am naive in thinking it is natural to want to, but I cannot understand why people would actively speak out against it! It is for people like dan and his situation that I feel sorry for, and as for this poppy facism, I just find it all to be a mentality I will never understand! -

1. Where in the thread are rangers even mentioned? 2. It is not a matter of sectarianism, it's a matter of respect 3. It is clear to me from this thread that it is infact the Irish who have lost what the poppy rememberance is all about and made it sectarian, and is also clear that many, many English dont give a fook about what our forefathers fought and died for, broken Britain, to right! -

If the Celtic fans wanted to comemerate 1916 you lot would have a lot would have a problem. If the Celtic fans don't want to support poppy day they don't have to. If you want to support it then do. they DO commemerate the Easter rising, not only annually but in the songs they sing each and every week! Again though, you are missing the entire point of the thread! I am not expecting each and every individual to respect the appeal, what I do expect is every single British club to honour and respect those men and women who died fighting for their country. Do those who are fighting the Irish corner for that Scottish/British club Celtic, not realise how many Celtic fans have died fighting in the wars, from ww1 right up to our current one? PS: apologies admin for text talk last night, it was late, I'd had a beer and was being lazy! You have officially spanked me! -

Understand, but again, why would you not? Plus this is getting away from the initial point I was making, was not asking for individuals opinion, rather why would a British football club not respect it! (although is interesting 2hear individuals views!) -

[quote author=The sportsdirect.com@burnip Username link=topic=65540.msg2058283#msg2058283 And all this politics talk is a sack of s***, it's about showing respect for people who have died in the past, and in the last few years, for Britain. correct that man! -

Now who's making it political? I haven't mentioned anything to do with being Irish or Republican. It seems to me that you can't accept that a British citizen (or otherwise) may not care enough about this issue to wear a poppy. no politics here frm me my man! (in the sense u are thinking of!) but I would ask why would a British citizen not wish 2respect the men& women who died2make thus nation what it is2day? Perhaps it is simply a sign of the times, but I believe in respecting what our forefathers fought(&died) for! -

i am not going to presume what they thunk, as that's an awful assumption! However, IMO they should realise they are both Scottish and British, however in essence I would expect most 2think they are Irish(bt yet never bigoted!) my point is no matter what they call themselves, I cannot see the justification in not respecting the poppy appeal, Scottish, english, Irish and welsh, along with many other nationalities, died in past wars, and continue 2die in the current war, hence surely it is the most nautral respect in the world 2pay? -

Not at all coco! If an individual counts themselves as Irish/republican as I expect neil Lennon/Roy keane may do, they may not wish 2respwct the appeal. However if these men play 4a British club who respect that tradition, they must go along with said respect. What I really mean is individuals may not respect it 4whatever reason, but surely every single club in Britain MUST respect those who lived(&the many who died) their life fir this nation! -

Individuals coco yes, but surely any British club with an ounce of respect should honour the men & women who died for this nation? -

good edit decky! ;-) right from world war 1 there had been a strong link/ number of Irish fighting for the British army, so why would the fact Irish are fighting for the cause deny a respect from a British football club? Are Celtic Irish or Scottish? Even @that, you are bringing politics into it, there are many current and fallen heroes who not only support Celtic but are also "Irish" , hence, hence why would the club(&their supportors) not respect the poppy appeal? Perhaps I am wrong, but it is the bigoted amongst us who would not respect those who have volunteered thenselves 2fight for this nation, it's queen &all it stands for! -

I ask the question why wouldn't they respect it? If you are playing your football in great Britain, playing your football for a British club, surely you should be expected to respect our fallen(¤t) heroes! Why I ask is what mentality does a club have 2not respect it? Surely it's the most natural thing2do? If I remember right, last year only Sunderland and Celtic opted against respect! -

Just heard on football league show Plymouth didn't hold a minutes silence. Plus last year celtic didn't respect it, infact their so called fans protested against it. After listening 2radio all wk understanding it's about respect not religion, and after watching the rememberence service(as I always do) I just cnt understand why a British club wud not respect this! -

First instinct is to stick with adidas, especilly if they could go with the retrol look as stated above! If not then for me its gotta be umbro. As its been said, their new gear, particularly with city and england, is first class and are of simply design and top quality. Also their lesiure wear is quality, I work for Irish Football Association and Linfiel In northern Ireland, both of which are produced by umbro and I love. The off field wear is also way cheaper than adidas or nike, and given the cheap umbro tat sports direct sell, there may well be a natural link to this brand! NB. Nowhere near enough ock ups/photoshop in here yet, experts lets get some designs out!

fat, spite filled c*nt is laughiing at us every step of the way on this one, perfect timing after our last three performances! Really doesnt seem about money anymore, hope the fat b*stards arteries clog up soon and finish him, before he kills our club!

gotta mention big G too mate, he was immense but let his inexperience show for their goal, shame as it was his only mistake of the night. Couldnt believe big laf, he was on fire last night and really hope he makes wed night. Patterson must be beating himself up a bit today, this 1on1 miss was bad enough but the decision to shoot when we had 3 other options either side was terrible, simply cannot waste those chances at this level! I really cannot warm to worthington though, he is a negative twat and this was highlighted by his 'celebrations' at the final whistle last night. As costly as it was losing laf, the team clearly were under instruction to sit back when he went off and it really was a matter of time before they scored. We have beaten better teams than the poles with two 'wee' men up front (healy and feeno played in 3-2 win over spain) so it should not have stopped us attacking them, especially saying how poor their defence was! Saying that, a point would have made me happy pre-kick off so bring on Wednesday night, I'll be in the North Stand of Windsor as always singing me heart out! GAWA!

Killgallon and vaughan would be two great signings imo. the latter has bags of potential, and I could see MK striking up a good partnership with saylor. Add those two to lovenkrands and a couple of loans and we would be in decent shape. wonder why we havent hit any of the free agents? I really think michael ball would be a great signing. Would like to see us try for Damien Plessis on loan from liverpool, would be just what we need in the middle of the park. My scouse loving mates also rave about jay spearing, although I think he's right on fringe of first team so may be a non-starter

SSN usually shows the goals after 10 of all the football league games. Is there anywhere this game can be watched live btw?
